“Great place to stay in south shore Lake Tahoe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

This was a first time visit to Lake Tahoe and was as a result of a Groupon deal. What a wonderful experience! Each of the huge suites have 2 FULL bathrooms!
The casino at Harrah's was a bit smokey however going through the tunnel to Harvey's proved a bit better. (A little smaller and much less smokey.) All the staff at Harrah's was terrific! Many options nearby for activities and dining. We enjoyed our experience and may return when the weather is a bit warmer. The Concierge was very helpful in offering assistance and guidance in our desire to make a trip around the lake.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view of the lake and mountains.

“It was just "Okay"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

I felt like I had stepped back in time when I walked into the lobby. It has a 80s maybe 70s decor. The beds were comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The Zenith tv (do they still make those) was awful. The plus were the his and her bathrooms. It's a casino, so it's very smoky. They have a Starbucks onsite, arcade for the kids. Beware of the people that will try and get you to take a 90 min tour( you'll get free starbucks ). Of course they want to know if you make over $50k- umm thanks but no thanks, I'm not interested in a time-share.
Do not and I repeat, do not eat at the restaurants there, they are over priced and not worth it. Save yourself some money and walked down to heavenly village and grab a bite to eat or go to Hard Rock cafe across the street. Don't spend a lot of money on breakfast, walk down to Carrows. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. They did not have any snow when we arrived. A guy said it hadn't snowed since June. If you take the gondala to Heavenly they have man made snow. Heavenly village has ice skating, shops and restaurants, and a movie theater. It's okay, after a day or two you'll be bored unless you love to gamble.

“Two bathrooms, one room with a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011 via mobile

Great place to stay while attending Big Table with Loral Langemeier and Live Out Loud. The rooms are spacious - two king size beds, a dressing room and two bathrooms - very luxurious.

“They Don't Know They are Terrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011

Harrah's Lake Tahoe is an aging but generally well-kept hotel and casio with panoramaic views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas. The rooms are spacious and tidy. Everyone on staff is pleasant and does their best to be helpful and professional.

Several factors work against such a promising location, however:

(1) General: the facility targets people who have no sense of taste, nor would they know what upscale meant if it hit them in the face. This is common in many casinos and is not unique to Harrah's. If you believe you have taste but do not, you will fit right in.

(2) Food: Harrah's adheres to the simplistic "bigger must be better and damn the quality" rule. Their premier restaurant serves steaks labeled and priced as prime cuts, but the $50 filet turns out to be a $5 rump roast. If you love huge portions of food made from inferiour ingredients which taste like sawdust you will love Harrah's.

(3) Smoke: NV does not ban smoking in public places, even hallways outside of non-smoking rooms. This means everything smells like stale cigarette smoke. My nose will take months to recover.

(4) Housekeeping: while the beds are maintained well, you must ring down to get them to bring toilet paper or any bathroom essentials like shampoo or soap. I thought at first this was an oversight, but after the second day it became apparent this is policy.

I cannot recommend Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.
