Lake Tahoe is beautiful...it takes some pretty terrible sevice to cause bad feelings in a place that great. Well, Caesars Lake Tahoe can provide you with that level of service. When we arrived, it took 3 sets of keys and 3 trips to the front desk for the staff to give us keys that worked for our room.
The day before arriving, we reserved and paid for 4 tickets on the hotel's sunset cruise. When we arrive to pick up the tickets at the activities desk, the extremely rude concierge could not find the tickets or our reservation. Instead of offering to look up our reservation in the computer, he insisted he printed all of the tickets himself and said we obviosly had not called in a reservation. He then tried to charge us for 4 tickets. Luckily, we had a faxed receipt for the tickets. When he bothered to look in the computer for our reservation.... voila, there it was. He confirmed we were supposed to meet out front at 6:10 pm for a bus to the boat and wrote on the tickets in big red letters "Valet 6:10 pm". We sat outside from 6:05 to 6:20 pm confirming with the valet attendant that we were in the right place and at the right time. Finally, when it became obvious something was wrong, we returned to the activities desk where the rude man told us the the bus had left on time at 6. With the tickets in hand and the big red letters stating "Valet 6:10 pm", the man reluctantly refunded our money and attempted to give me a lecture on being on time.
Not wanting to argue, I accepted the refund and promptly went to the front desk and asked for a hotel comment card. The front desk clerk informed me that the hotel does not accept comments. ?? Interesting.... I asked him about the purpose of the big box on the counter with the openning on top that says, "Thank you for your comments." He said, "I don't know why that is there. This is my first day." Ok.... So, I asked if I could please speak with a manager. He says, "I am the manager".
In short, I would never stay there again. Life is too short to pay to be treated like that. At $220/night I am sure there are better accomodations in Tahoe. I hear Harrah's and Harvey's are excellent. We visited the concierge at Harrah's a couple of times after this incident and they were happy to help us book arrangements for other activities.
