“Pleasantly Surprised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I went to lake for a quick weekend get away. After reading all the other reviews we were a little worried about staying at hotel but didn't want to pay $300 for other casino. So we went for it... Yes it definitely needs to be renovated, but for the price it worked. Only complaint doors are very thin, party group next to us they were loud. Other wise room was comfy, food and service were great.

My husband and I spent the first night of our honeymoon at this hotel 32 years ago, when it was the Caesars. It was amazing then with a fantastic pool and great rooms. Over the years we visited many times. Unfortunately, we were up there 2 months ago and were horrified to see how the property has become run down. I suggest that you steer clear of the MontBleu until they renovate the property. There are other, much more enjoyable lodging venues in Stateline and in other places around the lake. Try the Hyatt at North Shore. They have the FABULOUS Lone Eagle Grill, one of our favorite places for Sunday brunch at Lake Tahoe. Visit Lake Tahoe, but skip MontBleu until they get their act together again!

Room Tip: Skip all the rooms and lodge elsewhere.

We were in Tahoe for a week with family. We were renting a house on Calif side but wife and I stayed at Harrah's Sun June 29 till we got house Mon . We came to casino area about four days and nights. My son recommended Ciera Steak House and we got the fix price ($30.00 ) a piece for our party of eight on July 3 . Great white tablecloth service and lovely Martines. Salad , main course , huge desert. Great value and professional staff make a good choice for that special occasion. Anyway, we gambled after dinner and teens went to arcade . The drink service slow ; I was the driver even for cokes and water very slow . There an hour and only approached in high roller room twice. Fun rock music and a bar with a firepit. Compared to slick Vegas , fun to people watch ; the uniform for the 21to 30 year old girls was a little black dress combined with jeans or Daisy Duke Shorts and plaid country shirts! I got a Trop Players Card to get the $30 free play. Their casino rewards desk person not too friendly. The Mont Bleu has Trop Cards not affiliated with Tropicana in Vegas but some casino in Aruba and the South in US. Would go again for restaurant and gaming. I won $100.00 for $20 put in and stopped. The mid century decor is bright and retro and fun.

Hotel is the old Cesar's and still has the pink marble look al over the place in the room. There are adjoining doors between the rooms, First night there were at least 20 people in the room next door and a fight broke out, people screaming, and banging on the adjoin door. Called front desk, they did nothing. Second night a new couple was in there and they were fighting and screaming and pounding on the door. Called the front desk and again they did nothing. The third night a couple with a children were in there and around 12:30am the kids were banging on the door and crying, more arguing. Called the front desk, they sent security up, and it the noise stopped for about a half hour and then started back in. When any of the ran the shower it in their room it sounded like an alarm going off in our room. Needless to say if you want to relax, this is not the place! We complained to the front desk when we were checking out and they asked the room number, we told them and they asked how we survived the first night with the party that was going on. LOL they really do not care. The only positive thing I could say is the food is really good there. That's it.

Stayed there June 20 and 21 2014. Rooms were below average. Broken tile worn carpets and dismal halls. Nearly 245.00 per night and not worth it. The bartenders were slow when playing poker at the bar. Other hotels were better. Got the play card but wouldn't go back even for free. Staff was not as friendly as other hotels either. Had a free 30.00 slot play on your first visit. Had to make three trips to the play office to even get it on my card. Then it took an attendant to get it to work. Think the machine knew it was free money and it was gone in just a few minutes.

They advertise renovated rooms but we got a suite which was partially furnished with what appeared to be left over odds and ends.... Holes in the wall... Filthy vents... A rotten mini frig with no hot and smelled awful. The bath had a spa and steam but it was from 3 decades ago ! The restaurants were closed except one... They only have an indoor pool and a few chairs out back on a dun deck that backs to the service driveway. Underwhelming at best...out right bad!

Stayed for a week. Bartenders slow and not friendly.
Pool closed one day, staff at pool desk rude.
Toilet ran, levers broke, remote for tv didnt work. Went to move shower head and it came out of wall. I work hospitality/cust service so it takes alot to bother me. When i kindly told lady at desk issues she seemed disinterested. We come to tahoe 4 weeks a year and this is worst place we have stayed.
