Several family members and I have stayed at this hotel 3 years in a row, and have had problems every year. We have relatives very close by and that is the ONLY reason we continue to stay at this place. Our reservations have been a problem every single year. The hotel consistently screws them up; either they didn't book a room, booked the incorrect room, or couldn't find the discount coupon we gave them. A word to the wise - check your reservation frequently before arriving and whatever coupons you receive in the mail, make a COPY of them because they will conveniently lose them and won't give you the discount until you get several managers involved. And be sure to write down the name of whomever you talk to, and especially the person at the front desk.
Security? When you did see them they were walking like ducks in a row. They could learn a few things from Vegas.
The rooms are dirty; toilet, sink and shower never function properly. One year we wrote "clean me" in the dust on top of the armoire on the day we arrived, 5 days later it was still there when we left. This year we unfortunately had a poolside room; we had the thermostat off and it was still 100 degrees in the room, and that was with the a/c supposedly running; and who wants to open the window and listen to the pool racket and smell chlorine? Room service dirty dishes and glasses sit in the halls for days.
Food is nothing to write home about; Cassidy's resturant is extremely expensive. Buffet is typical of all buffets, kind of bland. The cantina will never let you down for a dirty table and the waitstaff act like you are bothering them by ordering food. When requesting something we weren't sure if we were going to get it because they didn't even acknowledge they heard us.
The entertainment is the same all the time, they typically book one or two groups for a year or two at a time. And believe me, they sing the exact SAME songs every night; no variety.
Machines are tight; I wouldn't go there to get rich.
With the exception of the older lady at the help/information desk I would say the rest of the staff is rude and very uncaring. Either the staff is underpaid or overpaid because they really don't care. My mom accidentally tripped in the lobby and fell down; (several employees witnessed it) she was ok and was laughing about it and jokingly said "I think I broke my hip" well you should have seen the reaction of the employees then!! Not one of them bothered to ask how she was or even came over to help her up but yet got all excited when they sensed a law suit. Our motto is "yet another "friendly" boomtown employee."
My advice - stay downtown.
