My wife was adamant about not staying at a casino in Reno, which severely limitted our choices. I booked this hotel with trepidation after reading the other reviews. We were not going to be spending any time in the room so I wsa looking for a decent hotel, breakfast, good location(northern Reno and close to freeway) at a good price. We booked one of the kitchette rooms because we wanted 2 queen beds.
o Some people said the parking spaces were too small. I thought they were regular sized. Maybe the number or parking spaces is too small when the two hotels on the property are full? During our stay the hotel looked to be only lightly booked.
o Some people complained about old, stained carpet in the hallways. We were on the 3rd floor and the carpet in the hallway appeared new and also the carpet in the room was as well. Maybe they updated them?
o Someone was saying the beds were not queen. The ones in my room were.
The breakfast was adequate. In addition to the normal oatmeal/cereal/toast and make-you-own waffle, they also had some hot egg and sausages. The space to eat seemed small, but it looked like they had more space across the hallway.
The location is in sort of a semi-commercial area. It is not on a main street. It is one street off the main street. It was not the kind of place you would go for a walk-- not because it was particularly dangerous but because it was just not very interesting.
The room itself (kitchnette version) was large and the beds were comfortable and looked good(no threadbare linens). They had a wall mounted LCD panel. The furniture seemed pretty new.
In the kitchen/bath, the counters were granite. The kitchen had a full sized refrigerator, 2 burner electric stove, small sink and microwave. They provided pots, dishes, etc. The bathroom had a sink outside and separate toilet/bath room. The bath area was a little small but nothing unbearable.
When I checked in clerk mentioned they also had some kind of happy hour, but we were never around to even investigate what it was.
This place is by no means perfect, but it did seem to be hotel which provided good value and pretty decent accomodations.
