“Good hassle-free hotel accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

My standard room was fairly basic but spacious for one person, a good place to come down from the Burning Man festival the week before. A standard TV, no fridge, with a large picture-window view of the mountains. The free Wi-Fi required userID and password each time one entered the zone...when the sign-in screen would even come up. Other than that, everything was fine. Access was excellent, with none of the frustrating key-card-entry or casino-maze features of some other hotels just to get to one's room. Elevators were adequate, with minimal waiting to go down or up. Parking was adequate and convenient; each wing had its own lot. Circus Circus was the most convenient hotel to I-80, along with a handy little combo of Starbucks, Subway and a couple of other eateries on Fourth Street, and was also was a quick walk from Rancho San Rafael Park and plenty of trails in one direction, and the Truckee River and some nice walking trails in the other direction. A 10-minute walk to Save-Mart supermarket complemented the choices. Reno has a lot more to offer a non-gamer than a lot of visitors think.

It was my first visit to Reno, NV. I liked the ambiance of old town feeling and enjoyed my stay there. Unfortunately, the hotel staff seemed not motivated. I did not receive any welcome feeling to any staff who I spoke to, there was no sense of hospitality and I did not hear the "Thank you!". What I saw was Housekeeping staff sitting on the chair watching TV rather than to be cleaning the room, visible to all guests walking by as they kept the door wide open. Maintenance crew decided to paint the Cashier Station at 8:00AM, when the restaurant was busy with guests and guests had to accommodate the Maintenance crew to do his job while the Restaurant staff complained to each other that he is disturbing while no effort to call the Manager. There were a few good Dealers at the Casino who tried to talk to the guests and make the guests feel welcome but majority seemed not interested. Overall, I had the impression that the Hotel/Casino staff forgot that these guests are paying their salaries.

One of the best values in reno, they renovated there sports book its nice I got my room for under 40$. I also enjoyed the all you can eat sushi at smoking gekos , and had fun playing blackjack. Check this place out if your going to reno the location is great it clean and safe, you will enjoy your time here they have 3$ craps and for the value its way worth it the food tastes great.

My wife and I are almost what you could call "regulars" at the Circus. We have been there three times this year (2013), four or five times last year..... for at least 11 years.

I hate this expression! "Back in the day" it was a good deal. So we kept turning up. Our last visit was a bit of an eye opener. The bathroom lino was coming up at the back of the toilet and the bathroom smelled like piss.

There was no new soap one day and the bath mat was still on the floor after the room was made up.

We are going to try another downtown hotel next visit.

The hotel at Circus Circus is kind of old and tired, but we found it acceptable given the bargain price we paid for our room. Our room was somewhat overdue for refurbishing, but it was clean and neat. The reception desk is a long way from the parking garage and you need to drag your bags down a short flight of stairs or take an even longer walk to an elevator - not a problem for us but Circus Circus might not be a good choice for someone with mobility issues.

We have stayed at the Circus Circus twice now and love it. It is more affordable than most of the others which is a bonus. They have always treated us well , and always addressed any concerns we had very quickly. The rooms are comfortable and clean. We will definitely stay here again.

Interesting smell to the hotel. The TV is a small, tube tv. If you're in the Sky Tower, the train to get there is literally half as fast as walking yourself. The food options close pretty early, so if you have a late ending meeting, you better eat earlier, or you're stuck dealing with everyone trying to eat in one restaurant. Glad I didn't actually pay for this. Not good.

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel.
