“Too expensive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Why should Mexican food be so expensive? After all it is mostly beans and rice! Why do you need to charge $10 for 2 cheese enchiladas and beans and rice. Maybe $2 in food cost, if that. Gimme a break Juan, I am not a stupid yankee.

“Great Pazole”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Rainy day, cold wind, hot Pazole. Lunch was fast and well and fairly priced. The Pazole was one of the best I've had. The bowl was plenty of food for lunch and stayed with me all afternoon. The corn is not paleo but on an 80-20 this was worth being part of the 20.

“Regular visits”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

The location is what encouraged the first visit, and the great food and wonderful staff keeps us coming back regularly. The food has some unique spices, and while we stick to certain meals, when we have ventured to another meal, we have not been disappointed. The staff are fantastic, they recognize us when we walk in the door and take great care of us. We normally go for dinner, and have only experienced a wait once. It was packed on our one lunch time visit, which we were excited to see. We want this little place to stick around!

“Nice clean place, average tasting food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2009

We had dinner on a Friday night. Good crowd but no wait. We just beat the evening crowd. A nice, clean and cozy place. Good prompt service. However, the food is average at best. There is something about Reno and the Mexican cuisine: It's always plain and bland tasting - there is no any way to explain it. Like I said before, it's depends on the chef. Southern Cal has the best, period. The chips and salsa - so highly said of - was average. Chevy's has better chips. My carne asada taco was again, bland. It does not compare to a carne asada burrito in Cal. In fact, I have yet to see a carne asada burrito on any menu in Reno. That is very strange. Anyway, not to put the place down too much but if you want a quick bite at a fair price with good service, then this is your place.

“Friday night ritual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2009

Our favorite mexican restaurant in the west (or south, east, north) - hands down. The margaritas, service, and food are all incredibly satisfying. The owner is the most hospitable person I've ever met, even when the place is hopping - which is often. The fish tacos are the best. The guac is the best. The ceviche is the best. The camarones diablos are devilish (order them hot if you can handle it). And the best part is that the restaurant is CONSISTENTLY good, which is difficult to come by these days. We love it, every week.
