I had a craving for Chinese food and this place was located only feet from the dry cleaners where I just dropped off some clothes. I checked it out on line and decided to give it a shot. Glad I did! Ambience is retro traditional Chinese restaurant with red leather booths and / or chairs with quite traditional artwork on the walls. It was pretty QUIET but it was also a Tuesday. My waiter was very attentive. A GOOD sign was that there were NO crispy noodles NOR duck sauce on the table (TOURIST TRAP) although there WAS a full service bar.
I got the Assorted Won Ton soup but was SHOCKED to see $7.95 for the SMALL!?!? The waiter said DON'T order larger if I planned to eat ANYTHING else and he was right. A pretty deep BOWL of light broth contained won tons, shrimp, shredded pork, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage, bok choy, scallions and other ingredients was served. Pretty tasty and hardly ANY SALT or MSG!
Main dish was Shrimp and Scallops with Vegetables in Spicy Sauce; lots of sautéed shrimp and scallops with water chestnuts, red peppers, green peppers, carrots and few other vegetables in a slightly spicy brown sauce. It was just right spicy for me and the rice was NOT overly sticky. Didn't offer brown rice which was slight disappointment. Price only $15.
The portions were substantial. On any other night there would have been a white take home box but I was hungry and the food was good. I believe you will enjoy the place.
