“Great Business Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

I have stayed at this hotel many times and have always had a great experience. The hotel is quiet and convenient. Best of all, the staff is great. It is nice not having to deal with a casino and all the stuff that goes with staying at one of those places.

The hotel was located in a nice area, near plenty of retail such as Meadowwood Mall, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Barnes & Noble, etc,. The breakfast and evening food options while free not the healthiest. All rooms come with a refrigerator, stove, microwave and toaster.

Found out after checking in there are smoking rooms in this hotel. Could not sleep due to smell of cigarette smoke from adjacent rooms. Hello? This isn't the 70s anymore! Ban smoking from your hotel completely! I will never stay here again. Free dinner provided during stay but it was Salisbury streak - I didn't know that still existed! Looked like mystery meat to me. So I just went out for dinner.

Stayed with friends and was very impressed by the size of the room. The staff was WONDERFUL with my early check in and late check out requests. Excellent accommodations, quiet, great breakfast- well worth it and highly recommend it to anyone in the area. I will be looking very closely for all Homewood Suites for future stays. If you stay during the week there is also an evening meal provided. Only thing to be aware of it does NOT have a stove- only a cook top but it was just fine for our needs. Even the hide a bed couch was comfortable.

I've visited here in Reno twice this year for a good get away. I've never found a hotel to even beat this one in terms of value. I prefer Homewood over any Embassy Suites, Hilton, or Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at.

Pros
- free wifi
- location (nearby Walmart Supercenter, mall, Kohl's, and other stores)
- free parking
- kitchen (Homewood Suites standard)
- Very clean
- free breakfast (not great, but ok)

The only slight negative I had was on my second stay, the occupants in the room above us were arguing, however I was still able to sleep well.

We needed a place in Reno that was not smoke-filled or casino oriented. Homewood Suites filled the bill admirably. We arrived late on a Friday and were met by Jenny, whose big smile made us feel welcome. She got us checked in efficiently. When we got to our room, discovered it was not the type of room we had reserved, and called the front desk, Jenny switched us into the correct type of room right away.

The room was clean, spacious, and, from the fourth floor, had a lovely view of the foothills. We had a full size fridge, a two burner stove, a microwave, a sink, a dishwasher, and dinnerware for four. This was particularly helpful as we were able to visit with family over dinner in our room. We were pleased by the performance of the AC and the inclusion of a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The design of the hotel suite allowed for a quiet bedroom and uninterrupted sleep. Our room was located down the hall from the elevators so we never heard them. However, having stayed in several other hotels in rooms near the elevator, we were impressed to see that the design of Homewood Suites made sure the rooms rooms surrounding the elevator were storage or ice rooms with a wall separating the door of the elevator from the nearest hotel room. Thoughtful architecture is good to see!

Breakfast was standard fare, not exceptional but certainly acceptable. My spouse was pleased by the waffle option. The breakfast area was well-appointed with plenty of tables for the guests in residence. Coffee and tea are available all day long. The small gym is adequate, with two treadmills, an elliptical machine, and a few weights. The pool room was clean with a warm (not hot) spa.

The entire staff was courteous, from the maintenance man polishing the elevator in the middle of the day, to the lovely woman who served and cleaned up after the breakfast crowd, to the front desk staff. The housekeeping staff did a great job. Our room was sparkling clean each day.

Complimentary taxi service is available with prior notice, although the close proximity to the airport means the cost is only about $15.00 without a voucher. We recommend scheduling the taxi with the front desk the day before your arrival/departure.

The only reasons this hotel did not earn a 5 was the water pressure on the fourth floor and a few cosmetic issues. Hot water required about a minute and a half to two minutes to run at full warmth at our level. In the bathroom, two of the cosmetic covers were loose - one over the end of the curtain rod (which was secure!) and one over the shower head (again, secure with no leaks) where it meets the tiled wall. Considering how comfortable our stay was, these very minor issues merited mention only to explain the rating.

We will certainly stay here again and recommend the location for families or business travelers who want to be within a short drive to the airport, want a safe location, and and want to avoid the casino scene.

Room Tip: Upper floors facing on the front side of the hotel have a nice view.

Great Homewood in Reno. Location is good, not too far from the airport, not too far from anything else in Reno. Staff are always very kind, rooms are always very clean. I've stayed there three times in the past two years, and it is always very consistent.
