My first stay at the Peppermill and I loved it. What a great casino! Big, noisy, neon galore and fairly loose slots. I found all the employees and casino dealers to be friendly and the drink service was frequent with good strong drinks.

Check in was very quick even with a large line. The room was in the Peppermill Tower 4th floor and it was fine. It was kind of French Provincial meets Tuscany. Nice artwork. Muted yellowish/gold colors. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The shower was fine with good water pressure. The aircon was very good and quiet. Don't touch anything on the minibar tray unless you want to buy it! There was a coffemaker, but I went downstairs to get fresh coffee each morning. There is a large flat screen TV. The only negative was that the carpet was stained in several places and should be replaced and there was no safe in the room, so you had to leave valuables in a safe deposit box at the front desk.

I ate at the Chi restaurant and was a bit disappointed. The shrimp were very overcooked. I liked the buffet and the rainforest thunderstorms with birds cawing and the cascading water. The food was varied and good. Delicious tamales, fried chicken and very good pizza. I had a very good chicken salad sandwich at the Deli next to the sportsbook. The Terrace Bar and the Biscotti area is really beautiful. Very impressive. I liked the Fireside Lounge and the entertainment in the sunken casino lounge.

The pool area is great. Two huge pools with a smaller pool only up to 4 ft depth and a jacuzzi pool. Beautifully landscaped. The airport shuttle was right on time. I loved the airline check in computer stations. Can't wait to return to the Peppermill!

I don't want to reiterate what has already been said. Some of the standouts of the Tuscany Tower:

1. Call for Turndown Service. We received two 50 mL bottles of Bailey's nightly, three chocolates, and the ice bucket renewed--and the bed was properly turned down, shades drawn, and towels removed/replenished.

2. The coffee shop on this side "Biscotti" is only a little more expensive than the Peppermill Coffee Shop and light years better.

3. If you want a late checkout, call for it the day before. They won't give you later than 12:00 Noon if you call the day of checkout. Friends that called the day before were offered 2:00 PM.

We didn't have time to use the whirlpool bath. I previously enjoyed staying at the Grand Sierra in the Summit...however this room is far superior...if only the Peppermill had a bowling alley! Unfortunately I will probably continue staying at the GSR because the card table area at the Peppermill is it's worst attribute: claustrophobic low ceilings and too much neon.

When we walked through the door, we were hit with a stench of stale smoke, it was overwhelming. The stench was all through the hotel, not just in the casino areas. The personnel were not very friendly, we walked by numerous employees and were greeted with scowls instead of smiles, the whole 3 days we were there only 2 employees smiled. The pillows smelled like body odor and the carpet was disgusting and smelled like smoke even though we were on a non-smoking floor and a non-smoking room.

In your feedback, it does not say if you tried to get a hold of anyone at our Front Desk to get you a room more to your liking. We stayed one night in a corner Tuscany suite. It's not really a suite, as others have noted, but still very spacious. The bathroom is huge with a smaller plasma tv than the one in the room. We have stayed at the Peppermill before in their older tower. The only disadvantage to the Tuscany tower is that it is a long, long way from the main part of the hotel. There are restaurants in the Tuscany tower and it is close to the pool. To get to your room from check-in you have to take an elevator or escalator then walk up a long marble ramp then get in another elevator. For someone in a wheelchair or who has trouble walking this is a major hike.
We had dinner at Chi, their new Chinese restaurant, located in the older, casino part of the hotel. The food and service were great and reasonably priced.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a valet female who told us we could park our truck w/ a trailer on it in a particular lane while we checked in. We were there for a motorcycle event that was booked at the hotel. When we exited the vehicle, another male valet told us we could NOT park there, and had to move about 100 feet away from the check in doors. I was a bit irritated about that, having to drag my luggage over to the door after a long 9 hour drive. Upon check in, which could have been quicker (they had a large group of 'trainees' working), we went to the room, which was supposed to be non-smoking. The room needs a re-do, as the 80's decor is outdated with hues of days gone by, and mirrors making it look a bit cheesy. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and the staff brought us a small refridgerator at no extra charge. We had two friends with us, and one requested a rollaway, but the hotel didn't provide them at all, which I thought was odd, for a large resort of tis size. So he had to sleep on the floor, but the staff brought him enough bedding to make in pretty comfortable. The in room coffee maker was a one-cup device, which worked well, and the coffee tasted good. There was also a lighted make-up vanity mirror and hair dryer available, as well as a telephone next to the vanity. The bathroom was clean, but didn't 'smell' clean, if you know what I mean. It could have used a maintenance touch up, caulking and such. The shower head was useless, sprayed loud but no pressure to speak of. The amenities in the bathroom were plentiful, as were in the room itself. A nice desk for your laptop, and a table by the window with two comfy chairs. When I went to sleep, however, I could smell smoke in the curtains and headboard, which was pretty gross. We were already settled into the room, and didn't want to change. Our air conditioner, although on the coolest setting it could be on, didn't seem to cool the room past 74-ish. But we dealt with it.

Before arriving, I had booked a one hour massage at the Spa Toscana. This was not a mistake, my massage therapist was great. The attention to detail makes this spa stand out from many others I have visited in the southwest region of the country. The staff is incredible, and I really enjoyed my experience. In the treatment room itself, I could choose my own music based on my preferences. The lighting was very calming and there was a large flat screen tv in my room. Although I wasn't able to see it, it would have been nice if I was getting a different type of treatment. The rest of the spa facility was top notch. There was many kinds of teas and juices available along with fresh fruits and trail mixes. You could take as much time to use the facility as you needed to, and it was after 7pm, and there were still clients coming in, so that was a plus for me. The sauna didn't seem to be working correctly, so I used the steam room, which was great. There were private multi-head showers, and this was a treat right after using the whirlpool. In the regular shower, all necessities were provided in each shower. And in the vanity area, everything you needed was there, and if it wasn't, the staff would get it for you upon request. I will definitely return to the Spa Toscana. The only thing I didn't like about it is it's in the new Tuscany Tower of the hotel, and it's quite a jaunt from the old tower in the hotel.

The Terrace Lounge by the pool provided a nice escape from the casino for me. Since we are from Las Vegas, it was nice to find an intimate style bar with a few slot machines that was quiet. At night, they had a three person band, which I didn't get the name of, but they were GREAT! They played Motown hits from many genres, and were outstanding! I didn't want to leave but had to go to bed!

We didn't eat at any of the resort's restaurants, as we were out riding around Lake Tahoe and Virginia City the entire time. But many of them looked nice. We stopped by the snack bar early on a Saturday morning, right by registration. They only had two ladies working and were a bit slow, considering the time was around 0830. The selection of pastries and such was abundant, but could have either displayed the typed of beverages available, or listed them all on the sign not just "Arizona Teas", as there are many types.

Overall, a very nice place, a bit dated on the decor in the casino and rooms, but we would definitely stay here again, especially for the value and service overall.

My husband was going to Reno on a business trip and wanted to bring along our family. Since he would be working all day we researched hotels online in Reno to find the best one. We choose the Peppermill in Reno because it their website showed this beautiful hotel with beautiful swimming pools. The number one reason that we choose this hotel was because it appeared to have the best swimming pool. Since my husband was going to be working all day and leaving me with our two little girls ages 6 and 4 at the hotel all day we wanted a nice pool for the them to swim in.

We arrived to the Peppermill hotel on the evening of July 26, 2009. It was almost midnight so we went straight to our room and went to sleep. In the morning I arranged all of our luggage in our room before going downstairs to breakfast. I specifically placed my camera bag in on the floor in between a dresser and a large luggage bench so that it was in a somewhat safe place since our room did not have a safe. My camera bag contained $1500 of camera plus equipment and lenses.

Our breakfast at the coffee shop was terrible and I could not even eat my food. I kept wondering where this remodeled Tuscan hotel was that I has seen in their beautiful website because so far all I could see was an outdated casino with tons of bright lights. After we ate I went with my girls to seek out the pool. I was very happy once we found the pool to see that is was everything that we had hoped for and it looked just like the photos online. As we entered the side of the hotel that had the pool I felt as if I was in a different world. No longer were we in this old outdated casino but we had entered the Tuscan feel that they show on their website.

Since our hotel room was in the outdated side of the hotel and far away from the pool I went to the front desk and asked for an upgraded room in the new Tuscan tower so that we could be near the pool for our daughters. I also requested a suite with a patio so we could fully enjoy the atmosphere of the pool setting.

One hour after leaving to breakfast we returned back to our room. I was really surprised to see that our room had already been cleaned by he maid service. I started getting all of our luggage ready for the bellmen so that he could help us move to our new room. It was at this time that I noticed that my camera bag was gone. I started crying and immediately called the hotel security. Security arrived to our room several minutes later to take my report. I let them know that I left my room for one hour and upon arriving back an hour later our room had been cleaned and my camera had been stolen. The security officer let me know that they would interview the maid, go over the key card records and review the video surveillance. He also told me not to contact them for 4 business days that they were really busy dealing with other things such as slips and falls. To me this was unacceptable! They had that prime hour to investigate and telling me to contact them in 4 days seems like they just wanted me to go away!

I did no take no for an answer I wanted this matter resolved before I left the hotel. Finally The head of security (Dean) told me that "We talked to the maid and she said that your door was left ajar however our video surveillance shows that she is they only one entering your room at that time" He further told me that since the video did not show her visibly taking the camera out of our room there was nothing that they could do since she denied taking it. Since the hotel was allowing their employee to steal from me I contacted the Reno police department and made a report. They were extremely helpful and I am still waiting to see what comes of it.

In the midst of all this going on we found a bed bug on my 4 year old daughter's head and it was drawing blood from her scalp in several places. I removed the bug from her head and put it in a glass. I looked it up on the internet, it did look just like a bed bug so we took it down to the front desk and gave it to the manager. My daughter also developed a rash all over one of her legs that we believe was from bed bugs.

The next morning I took my girls to do a little shopping in the morning and told them that we would go back to the hotel and swim and their dad had promised to do some night swimming with them when he returned from work. Upon arriving back to the hotel we discovered that the hotel had closed all of the hotels to a private party. My poor little girls were in tears to find out that all of the pools were closed for the rest of the day! To top that off they had set up a hug buffet for 500 guests right smack in front of our patio. The only way for privacy was to close our curtains as we had a mass buffet set up right in front of our patio with people starring into our room. Not only did we not have any privacy but we could not use our patio. We were paying for use of the pool and they had no right to close all of he pools. They state on their website that the pool is open 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. I was so upset that I called he hotel manager Michael Ford. We spoke for about 30 mins and he seemed to understand all of my issues that we had had with the hotel and upon conclusion of the conversation he offered to buy my daughters ice cream, YES, Ice Cream!! I think that after what we had been through that to offer ice cream was offensive!

-The shower was terrible

-The claim to have a hertz rental car on site but they actually have to drive you to the company to get he car so plan for lots of extra time!

-I ordered a fruit cup for my daughters from the hotel and as my daughter was eating iy she spit her food out and said it tasted bad. I look at he fruit and saw that it was MOLDY, I have photos of the moldy fruit.

We just got back and we loved this hotel. I have told some friends and they are going to Wendover and will stay here.
