“No Gamble to stay here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

We stayed here for four nights and had a great time. The beauty is, it is connected to the Silver Legacy and Circus-Circus via covered overpasses and anything you want is at hand. Several really nice restaurants or quick little food stops, what ever you want. Our room itself was great, it was a standard room with a Kingsize bed, very clean and good service. The Casino was OK but seemed a little smokier that the Silver Legacy where we did most of our gambling, the dealers as well as the other players seemed friendlier. We were told by another couple that the Eldorado was the only one of the three that had safes in the room, which was a big factor. The one problem we found was the bed, lumpy mattress which should be replaced. You actually have to show your room key to the security gaurd before you can enter the elevator, that's a good thing I think. Nice place and would have no problem recommending it.

We rented the Players Suite and highly recommend it....Excellent views, wonderful room, very impressed...Always love the El Dorado and their wonderful staff and service!! Did the room show package pretty good value can upgrade to dinner as well, but we just did that on our own.

I had been to this hotel back in 1998 and my husband in 1992. We both said the same thing...it looks exactly the same. We had booked this hotel via US Airways vacations as it was cheaper to include the hotel room with our airfare than book the airfare and hotel separately. We arrived around 1 p.m. and were able to upgrade our room to the Spa Suite Room 107 for an additional $100/night. The room was beautiful, with a whirlpool spa, bar, separate living and dining room, steam shower and two bathrooms. However it is so outdated, I definitely wouldn't have paid more than what we paid for the room. The gold fixtures and 80s round bar with all the gold just completely dated the room. The hotel guide provided some details on the restaurants, but nothing on the locations/hours etc. We did quite a bit of gambling while we were there and were able to apply our comps to our hotel room checkout and in the end we paid $8 for two mid-week nights. We didn't do great at gambling but enjoyed ourselves although the drink service was definitely hit and miss. One day we got one drink and then had to go to the bar ourselves to order us a beer because the cocktail waitress disappeared. Definitely understaffed in the department. The casino played 80s music the entire time we were there...which I love 80s music and it definitely fit the hotel decor. We ventured over to the Silver Legacy and received much better drink service while playing slots there. We did eat at the buffet at the El Dorado for breakfast one morning and for dinner both nights we were there. We enjoyed the selection offered and dinner was different each night. The service was spectacular at the buffet and the staff was very helpful and friendly. After we returned home to Houston, my husband and I both said we would not go back to Reno and would return to Vegas. Reno is definitely for the older crowd (we are mid 40s) and catered to the over 55 scene. The El Dorado is a tired, outdated hotel that is in need of some serious updating.

Room Tip: You get a better discount if you prepay for your room and then upgrade. The spa suites are nice but...

Value great for weekday stay. King room good size though bed was lumpy and not too comfortable. Room was very clean. Restaurants were very good. Martinis at Roxy's were great. Casino area stinks of cigarette smoke but we don't gamble so no biggie for us. The show Grease was fantastic! Would stay again.

We will still keep the Eldorado as an option, but some details are lacking. How about directions for the tv keyboard, how to order a movie and where in the hotel will we find the restaurants? Lots of info regarding menus, etc. but nothing on location. It's a hotel casino so maybe they want you to wander around searching. And no directions for in room tv maybe because they don't want you in your room?

Was here a week during street vibrations 2013. It's a great old school casino and hotel, clean good security. Good choices. For food. Room was good sized. Bead fealt great. Room service not overpriced. And was good. Little bit of a maze if not used to place. Would stay here anytime. Staff all seemed great.

I am a small rancher in Wolf Creek Oregon, having retired from US Army, We decided to go to the El Dorado for Carol and my 14th Wedding Anniversary, as we had been there before...The hostess Linda Siedel offered us a tournement to play in and a free room for a couple of days to enjoy our stay. The atmosphere was lite and fun, the food was most excellent and very hard to choose between Restaurants as all were excellent...Needless to say we had a great party and wonderfull times...We used to go exclusively to the Reno Hilton, but followed Grant Wellington and Linda from there to the El Do as we call it, kinda a family thing with us, so now We Irish are Italian by choices..So give it a try my friends great fun and great people to adopt in your life...See You there sometime as Carol & I will definately be going back again and again..

Room Tip: get up in the clouds as the views are really special at night..
