We had visited a week earlier to see a cabin before booking. The one we received was different. The Love Birds cabin is set away from the others and previous guests have carved their initials on every available surface of the balcony. Some may find that romantic. I saw it as graffiti. The furniture and maintenance of this cabin was also below the model we had seen. By 4 pm in April it was too cold to sit outside, so we moved inside.
The cabin was freezing. We lit the gas fireplace, but it seems mostly for decoration. We started the wall heater, but it took a couple of hours to heat the space with large ceilings.
Upon check in we learned that there was no TV service, or WiFi, or reading lights. We didn't opt to rent old movies on dvd.
The shower head is located in the hot tub, so to take a shower you have to step up two feet onto the hot tub deck, walk to the back of the tub and step down without any grab bars available. We're retirees and didn't find the charm of this arrangement.
The awkwardness also included the ridiculously high bed. A small step stool was required to get into the bed, but we opted to use the ottoman. It was higher, but also slipped on the hard surface floor. I have to wonder how many accidents this place sees.
I did bring home a souvenir. I grabbed the hand rail while carrying my bag back up to the parking lot and got a good sized sliver from the weathered wood.
Overall I was not impressed. The one night stay was a gift from a relative and I was sorry to give them our report when asked. We've stayed at the Resort on Mount Charleston in the past and prefer it by far.
