We stayed here for 1.5 days as part of a company trip. This is actually like a village (20 or more acres in land) and run by the SL Army. The houses had been the swedish engineers quaters whilst they were engaged in the Kukuleganga Electricity project a decade back. The place seems to be very popular with the locals and foreigners are rare (no special reason for tourists to come about this way). Place could be rated in the caliber of a 3 star hotel.
They have 3 types of houses / apartments of categories: A- for 2 people B- for 4 People & C - for 6 people. Rooms are air-conditioned and includes a living room with a sofa and cable TV (80+ channels), small dining table, small kitchen with pantry cupboards, large fridge and stove / water heater etc, small bathroom with hot water and a bedroom. You can park your vehicle near your apartment as a road network is available.
They do not have full board / half board / room only sort of concept here. You have to pay for everything separately (but you can NOT take room only... anyway its not logical as you are sort of in middle of nowhere so you have to eat there :). Room rates are lower than usual, for the caliber they offer. You need to purchase tickets for your meals and present it at the restaurant when you go to eat (which is a bit awkward as you give the ticket and take the plate and dont know how it will work if you want to discard your plate and get a new plate :D)
There is a mini mart where you can buy most things you would need including swim where.. prices i suppose, are more than outside.
Swimming pool is small but seems to be well maintained, and a very small baby pool is also there. However the changing room is unisex!!! very very uncommon in sri lanka.
Food is usually good.. similar to the quality and variety that you will find in any good 3 star hotel in LK. There is a barbeque night every Saturday with live band playing.
There are a lot of sports you can engage in. There is quite a large cricket / football ground at an elevated point :). Badminton / Tennis / Voleyball & Basketball facilities can be used free. You can pay and obtain a mountain byke for 4 hours and ride around... if you want you can ride outside the premises, on the main road also.
You can pay and play the following sports : Archery, Air Riffle, Air Pistol, Pool
Other activities you can pay and engage in : Poney Rides, Boat rides, Swarn Boarts, Karoke.
The tap water at the hotel is drinkable. It is the same thing they provide you at the restaurant. It seems it is not normal tap water. Perhaps its treated water.
