“Buffet had poor customer service!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We went on a family mini vacation for my son's birthday. We had no problem checking in. We got there later in the evening and the kids wanted to go swimming, due to them closing at 9pm they weren't able to. We just felt for it still being summer time that they should allow the kids to stay in the pool until 10pm like the adults. The pool had a lot of dead bugs which the kids complained about. Overall they enjoyed the pool. The only real issue we had was the Buffet, we went there for brunch and it was pretty much lonely in there and they still gave us poor customer service. Our waitress was not friendly at all. The selection of food was not great during that time. Even tho the establishment was not busy the customer service should have been extreme.

I usually stay at Harrah's in Laughlin but thought I'd try someplace else this time. We visited during the National Karaoke contest which was held at the Tropicana and it's sister hotel the River Palms. The eliminations for the contest were held all week and was truly entertaining (free admission). I found my(comp) Resort room clean and comfortable but not really what the name implies. Newer furniture and plantation sutters than the classic but not much more...not worth any up charge, save your money. Very nice visit at the Tropicana Express with helpful staff and decent accommodations.

Stayed with a friend who had a comp room. It was very clean and bed was comfortable with nice sheets. Plain and simple - no frills. Whole casino seemed a bit worn, but it's not Vegas after all. They had $5 blackjack tables, which I liked, and they played double deck instead of a shoe.

When you read the website it promises views and nice rooms. When you get here the rooms are run down and there is no view at all. We upgraded to the casino tower because my wife can't walk far...they gave us the last room furthest from the elevator...umm thanks a lot. That really helped my handicapped wife.

Having stayed at this hotel twice before ( the last time being June 2011 ) we drove to Laughlin to book in. The receptionist ( I use the term lightly ) was so unhelpful, surly and downright rude that we walked out and booked into a different hotel which was delightful.

I've stayed here many times and have been pretty satisfied in the past, but this time I was disappointed because the elevators were acting up the whole time and it seems that the hotel should have had an engineer out to fix the elevators. They were stopping randomly and very erratic.

Plus, they gave us a coupon book with a "match play" coupon but was invalid on holiday weekends (we stayed Labor Day). I felt a bit cheated.

I also was disappointed they didn't have more black jack tables open. I went across the street to the Colorado Belle and they had twice as many tables open as the Tropicana.

My wife and I have stayed here many, many, many times - always in free (comp) rooms. It's OK, but if your looking for anything other than standard accomodations - this ain't the place for you. We always have a great time and enjoy our stays, but as some other reviewers have commented, the staff (especially at the check-in reception desk and at the Trop Advantage Club ) are pretty "who cares" about the patrons. We're used to it and pretty much ignor it, but then again we're not paying for our rooms and we're merely there for the relaxation and semi-slow pace of Laughlin, so we don't let these "gloomy souls" lack of hospitality get to us.

As for the casino. it's Ok too (no glitz or glamour in it either). It's very slow-paced. If you're retired, have gray hair and go mid-week, you'll love the company.

Room Tip: Definitely stay in the "Adult Tower" if you don't have chidren with you.
