“Nothing Special, but the right price for just a room need for a long weekend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

When you check in at the Casino....it is VERY smoky (expected for a casino). The Hotel rooms are separate buildings and all non-smoking rooms. VERY basic rooms.....so if you are in town to not spend a lot of time in the room for a cheap price.....this is for you. No refrigerator, have to pay for ice ($3 for 10 lb. bag), not the best lighting, no elevators, no hair dryer, no ironing board, old style TV (but it did have cable) and no Wi-Fi. Air-conditioner was GREAT and not that loud. We were mostly there to scuba dive at Lake Mohave - so this was perfect - we just slept in the room and it was just for a long weekend. Shower was good and mattress was super soft. There are pet friendly rooms but you have to specify....we ran into people walking their dogs in designated areas. We had a cooler - so we stopped in town for ice and water/juice/iced tea in Bullhead City, AZ (there is Circle K, Safeway Grocery a little further down or if you are really adventurous - there is a Wal-Mart way down the strip).

I saw security walking around the parking lots and around the hotel - so they seem to be present all over.

It is not connected to the river walk.....you can start in by the river out back, but you have to walk to the front of Colorado Belle.....once you get to Colorado Belle, you can take the river walk all the way down to the other casinos (Edgewater, Aquarius, etc....). You can take the river walk to other restaurants/casinos/views. We had dinner at the Pioneer Boarding House restaurant Saturday night for all you can eat ribs ($12.95). Only 2 of the group got the rib special. Food was OK. Friday night we walked over to the Aquarius for dinner (Outback).

Tropicana Express was right across the street - our friend would walk over every night to meet the 5 of us. We would all meet at the back bar by the river view (less smoky) called the Sassy Suey and make our plans. It had a pool table and beer pong table. We passed the pool/Jacuzzi and it looked inviting.

We will be back to Laughlin. If it is a longer stay – I may choose a different place.

Room Tip: To check in - don't bother parking - just pull right up front to the casino because you will hav...

Parking was good and the restaurant was good, all else fails miserably.

There was no cable TV and no wireless internet as advertised. However I had friends stay there at the same time just a few doors down from me and they did have cable so it seems that some rooms are much better than others and it is just a gamble on whether or not you get a good room. Also, our shower did not work right, hot or cold but no in between.

The Boarding House Restaurant on the premises was good and the service was good. The location is nice, it is right on the river and my son brought his fishing poles and fished along the bank of the river right there at the hotel.

The room was nicely furnished and everything was clean. It was very quiet in the room, but there was entertainment at the Tropicana Hotel outside that was very loud and lasted very late, not a Pioneer problem, but very annoying. You and park your car next to the room and access from
Casino Drive is quick. Check-in was fast. The king sized bed very firm and compfortable. Good value for the small price.

Room Tip: The eating places in the Casino seem to be second rate. We ate elsewhere.

I have stayed at the Pioneer several times over the years and enjoyed the fact it was "quaint", sadly it has reached dive status. The dresser was broken, the room wasn't very clean including the shower. Also the security guard was just downright rude to us several times at the pool although we gave him absolutely no reason to be. The location and parking are good points, however I will never stay here again.

This hotel is right in the middle of Laughlin so the location is great. The Place was clean for being pretty cheap hotel and it looked like your Grandmas house. But how long are you really in your room anyways. So if you are on a budget and you dont mind grandmas house. its perfect.

Room Tip: dont expect anything fancy...

I just returned from the Pioneer Hotel and Casino. I stayed in room 145 and wish I had'nt. Let me start with the room . Mold in the bathroom, peeling wallpaper, toilet was broken when I arrived but I fixed, warped foor molding, 25 inch tube tv with a whopping 13 channels, broken security lock on door, terrible beds. You get what you pay for and for 25/ night is way too much for this place. Oh, pool closed for two days due to the wind? too dangerous?

Room Tip: don't bother

The Internet connection was terribly weak, so after 2 hours of trying to use it, I checked out and moved across the street to the Tropicana, where the Internet connection was just fine. I had not used any of the sheets, towels, or toiletries at the Pioneer, but they still declined to refund my money. Their advertisement of "Free WiFi" is just plain false advertising, it should be "Unusable WiFi".
