We stayed here one night around March 14th, based on reading this website. Our only other experience with Laughlin ratings would mirror the Riverfront Hotel reviews based on our stay there last year.
The Golden Nugget has some nice touches. There is a pretty tropical rainforest you walk through at the street entrace to the casino. They have a steak house and a Joe's Crab Shack overlooking the river. A Starbucks right next to the river walk entrance. It's also a good location for walking along the river to all the casinos north of it.
The room was pretty average, but clean. The pros -- bed, shower (with adequate ventilation exhaust), bathroom vanity lighting, maybe a dozen channels on TV (including Weather Channel). FAST check-in and elevators. Parking garage only a 50' walk away. The cons -- not much of a view from the room, and the thermostat adjustment between full heat and full cold was tiny (could be our unit).
We did go to a new restaurant for dinner that had great food, yet reasonably priced, unpretenious, and uncrowded. It was called the Tropical Cow -- a 5 to 10 minute walk north along the river to the Reagency Casino (small 2 story structure on the north side of the Colorado Belle). The full rack of pork ribs was $13.95 for dinner -- outstanding smoking results with sauce on the side, and $8.95 for a thick juicy cut of Prime Rib.
We will go back to the Golden Nugget. We're convinced that it is probably the best in Laughlin.
