We very much enjoyed our stay. We especially enjoyed the swimming pools.
Luckily for us, we only stayed 3 nights at the Excalibur prior to leaving Vegas to tour some of the wonders that the South West has to offer. The Excalibur occupies a pretty good spot on The Strip, yet offers little or none of what you might expect. Very average.
Rooms: We had one of the 'new' Widescreen Rooms....it's basically a room with widescreen TV. The decor was awful, as was the sound proofing.
Casino: Dark and dingly, and a horrible musty smell.
Dining: Apart from the usual food hall, it pffers very little in terms of fine, or even just plain good, dining.
I personally would nevert use this hotel again!
We went to the Sema show in Las Vegas and decided to stay at the Excalibur for a number of reasons. It wasn't close to the convention center, but the location of the Excalibur is good because there is so much to do in that area of the Vegas strip. We had an upgraded widescreen room. Our Sema room rate was $61.00 each night, which I found was better than if I had booked the room on the internet where the rate fluctuated from day to day. For the most part, the room was fine. We had a good view of the mountains. My only complaint would be the shower grout which could have used a good dose of bleach. A friend of ours booked the standard room and had to ask for an upgrade because he said the room was really nasty. The hotel had an all day buffet for $29.00. It was a good bargain. There was also a food court with a good variety of places to eat. Access to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay were very convenient because of the tram and walkways. Excalibur could use a facelift. Given the choice I would probably stay at another hotel for our next visit. But the total experience was not bad.
We booked our trip with Expedia and got a really good deal for 5 night's staying at the Excalibur. When we arrived we had no problems checking in what so ever, the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. We were in Tower 1 had a Strip View, Room was quite some size, King size bed VERY clean. Bathroom was a good size aswell, huge shower ( No bath ). I couldnt believe how happy i was with the hotel , i was expecting maybe a few problems as the reviews i red wasnt great and the fact we got it so cheap, but wow i cannot explain what a deal your getting. PERFECT location. Nice chinese upstairs i'd recommend. Go in all the hotels, you have to visit them all, so beautiful and so much to see. New York had lovely bars and we ate in there most nights. We didnt eat at the hotel buffet as i didnt see what the point was, your there to experience all sorts of food and restaurants so in my opinion i wouldnt bother. Round the pool was great, loads of sun loungers, weather was lovely, not too hot. Go on the Rollarcoaster at New York New York Very fun!! We visited downtown to see the lightshow, apart from that there isnt much there, but was on the last night and since we were shattered from all the others nights we'd had out. Las Vegas has some fantastic clubs if you like your partying scene, of all ages aswell so dont be afraid, I'd recommend, The bank at the Belliago, PURE at Caesars Palace, LAX at the Luxor. DONT buy any tickets from people on the street, most of the time you can get them free from workers in the hotel. Also go the Paris hotel up the effiel tower, Me and my fiance went, was very romantic and you get a fantastic view of the Strip. We were there for Halloween and we had the BEST time ever! Very sad to be home. I would definitly stay at the excalibur again, why pay all that money for a top notch hotel if your hardly in it? EXCALIBUR ALL THE WAY!!! Oh and bring comfy shoes, there's a lot of walking!!! Have fun x
This review is 4 years late. My apologies. Only now I find time reading other people's review and wanting to give my two cents. This was a hotel I can remember very vividly. It was Hell on Earth!
-- We just got off the plane at 9am from a 14-hour flight from Hong Kong via Tokyo, heavily jet-lagged, tired and yes, they refused to give us a room even though they had one available. "Hotel policies" stated it is 3pm check-in time. Then she walked off as if refusing to discuss with us further
-- Furnitures were old - chipped, scratched, written on - the table legs were crooked
-- noisy outside of the room. The rooms were not very sound-proof
-- noisy INSIDE of the room. The damn, old and cranky air conditioner, which was about to break down refused to shut up. And you really don't want to turn it off with the 44 degrees Celsius blistering Summer heat outside. Either you live with the noisy air-con or you live with the noisy corridors, either way, you are screwed!
If it wasn't because of the discounted convention price that the organizers offered, we wouldn't have stayed there. Out of a total of 12 days we spent in Las Vegas, we had to stay for 5 nights in this hell hole. The other 7 night we booked at Luxor. We almost cancelled Luxor as well thinking the quality would be much the same because both Excalibur and Luxor were owned by the MGM group.
Overall quality of service of this hotel is appalling, not because I was heavily ticked off of the other finer points but rather comparing with other hotels in other major cities around the world, this hotel is shameful to say the least.
