“In your face advertising and terrible customer service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

We stayed here for a few nights after staying at circus circus and were extremely disappointed.
After approaching in a taxi we were mobbed by half a dozen time share sellers who wouldn't take no for an answer. While in our room we had flyers for pizza and food put under our door and advertising messages left on our phone every day.
I expect this kind of thing in vegas but not when paying large amounts of money for a room.
The gym was satisfactory but having to walk through a smoky casino and 3 or 4 bars made it more of a task in the morning.
The location is ok, but would definitely prefer to pay more for something that accommodates its guests better and also no wi fi in the rooms is ridiculous.
Possibly ok for a night or 2 but you basically get what you pay for in this place, and we won't be returning.

Room Tip: Fill up your water bottles in the gym to avoid paying 3-4 dollars for a small bottle at the store

Stayed here for 6 nights, Nov. 17 to 23rd. The room in tower 2 was fine, clean, a little aging, but very acceptable. I had the breakfast buffet 3 times, not a lot of variation from day to day, but OK. Lots of fresh fruit and the omellettes are very good. Had a couple of good dinners at the Camelot Steak house. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The people pushing the time shares are a little annoying, but not overly aggressive. If you are looking for a decent room for a reasonable price in a good location, this is it. If you want 5 star, pay the price and go to a higher rated hotel, but if you wand basic good accommodation, this place fills the bill.

We stayed here for 2 nights after spending 3 at MGM grand. The price was good and the location was terrific right opposite the MGM. Room was clean, a little dated but roomy. If you get a cheaper room, ask for odd number in tower 2 for a view. There weren't any left so we had even number but was still really good for the price. You also need to book online for a better price than going in direct. Would deff stay again.

There are three hotels owned by the same group: Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and Excalibur. They are all connected by walkways and tramway. This is the least expensive. When you are attending a convention at MB, why pay $250 a night when you can stay at Excalibur for 25% of the price?

Having said that, this is a tired "theme casino/hotel", built during the failed campaign to market Vegas as a family destination, complete with video game "dungeon" for the kiddies. In their rush to be affordable, they used the cheapest stuff they could find in the rooms, including plastic mobile home sinks. The Internet is old, wired Ethernet in the rooms--wireless only in the casino. The website conveniently fails to draw that distinction. (Who the devil uses wired Internet connections these days?)

The rooms are about $35, plus tax, plus a $15 resort fee, plus a tax on the resort fee. (Hey, they gotta find a way to finance Clark county's huge entitlement-dependant population.). And the fee allegedly pays for things like cutting-edge wired Internet. LOL.

The bed was very comfortable, and the room amenities were nice (if you don't count the huge 12 available tv channels). Of course, you have to put up with drunks in the hall at 3 am, but that is everywhere in Vegas.

You can stay here for about what it costs to get a room off the strip, and still have access to three casinos, bars, etc without having to drive, which is the only reason I go back.

We stayed at the Excalibur for 3 nights in November. We got a special rate with our M Life card it was under $200 for 3 nights including all taxes and resort fees-one night was a weekend.
We were upgraded to Tower 2 which is the remodeled tower. We had a 2nd floor room with a view of the air conditioners but who stays in the room while in Vegas! The bathroom was nicely remodeled-the showerhead however was too low for me. I am 5'6" so a little difficult for a tall person. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. I must speak to the elevators however-very dirty and disgusting! It looked like the threadbare carpet had not been vacuumed in ages and the walls were filthy. I realize they cannot have housekeeping patrol the elevators to clean up from some slobs who use them but they did not look like anyone ever makes an attempt.
The casino was nice, the food choices good and the location was great. The resort fees that all the hotels in Vegas are now charging is ridiculous. Wired internet in the room? Really who brings a laptop to Vegas? Wi Fi would be better for I Pads and tablets. I think we were supposed to get a newspaper each day also-never saw that. Just a way to get extra money from people who are getting free or reduced rate rooms. But such is the way of Vegas.
Overall if not for the disgusting elevators I would have rated it 3.5 stars. It is not a luxury hotel but certainly not a bad place to gamble and have fun. For the right price I would stay again.

We stayed at this hotel in October. Firstly, I need to make a comment on the communication(or lack of)from the hotel. After booking our rooms online, we found that friends we were travelling with at the same time had booked very similar rooms(when I say similar, I mean better) at the same time for a much cheaper price. Upon trying to call the reservations department to ask why, I had no success, instead being asked to send my concerns via email. Two emails later, still no success or even response. So we decided to wait until we got to the hotel to raise our concerns face to face. On arrival, after speaking to a Manager we eventually sorted something out, but still ended up paying more than our friends. To be honest, by this stage we were so much over the whole thing that we just accepted what we could.
Now, onto our actual stay. The casino itself is ok, although a bit smelly(smoke stained). But I guess you would have to expect that from an older Casino. The rooms also were ok, although my wife got zapped by a faulty lamp(just a little zap). the rooms were very spacious, which was good and were joined. Housekeeping was good and the boys loved the swimming pools.
The Casino needs to get with the times and supply free complimentary high speed Wi-Fi. Overall, apart from paying more than we expected to pay for accommodation in Vegas and having a hard time communicating with the reservations staff, we were happy with our stay at the hotel.

Very satisfied with the casino. I didnt have free wifi in the room. Overall stay was very good. The casino was well located for the start of the rock and roll marathon. Had a problem with the valet parking on Friday night but I think it was due to the fact it was the on the weekend of the marathon and there were many guests arriving on that day.
