“If you can't afford anything else..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

The Excalibur isn't the worst hotel on the strip, but it's definitely not great. The hotel itself is very dated, and not just because the theme is medieval. It feels very run down. The rooms that aren't renovated are very old, carpet worn, old beds, old furniture, old tube TV's, but those still seem to be rampant in Las Vegas. The property itself is very crowded with kids and families. Be weary of the rates, they do have a resort fee- and I'm still not clear on what I "received" from paying it. Even with the fee, they still have very low rates- so if you can't afford anything else..

we spent 5 days in las vegas at the excalibur on the strip , the view from the window was of the garbage and beer kegs each time they took the garbage out or changed a beer keg out it sounded like they where in your room , they add resort fees even when the pool was down for the winter , $12.50 that was $14.00 per Day with tax the room was not that great for the price I would not stay there again

Room Tip: check to see if your hotel charges a resort fee only some do ,

I planned a trip for 6 girls to stay in Vegas for the weekend and picked Excalibur for the price, the service and how close it was to the monorail. Our trip started out with check in that was a breeze. I had emailed them and asked for adjoining rooms and initially did not get it but it was soon rectified. We had awesome views of the mountains which is what the girls wanted and the rooms were huge! We had three girls to a room and everyone was very comfortable and had more than enough room to put their stuff. The staff was amazing, they were very helpful and our room was always clean. This was my 4th time in Vegas and I will definitely stay here again, our only problem with the hotel was leaving it!

Room Tip: Girls...make sure to check out Thunder From Down Under!!!

Second time here - the cheapest casino on this end of the strip, and fine for what you pay. We were upgraded to the widescreen room - as we were the last time we stayed, and room was fine. Free internet was a plus - so often not available in casinos, but it was wired, and I have wireless!!! The feature was never mentioned on the hotel website, would have been helpful to know. I agree the resort fees as a problem, but not limited to this property. I hate smoke in the casinos, but again, par for the course. Beds were hard.

Room Tip: Hope to get the upgrade to widescreen room.

Booked a Winter Promo which allowed us ti get 2 free tickets to Viva Elvis by Cirque. 3 months before the trip we found out that we could no longer get those tickets as the show was closed. We were not offered anything comparable (In my opinion their Medival Feast is NOT comparable to a Cirque!). Managed to negotiate a small amount off the room, again not comparable to what we had booked. (Would have cancelled altogether but our daughter really wanted to stay at the castle). When we got there, guess which show was not closed!!! My heart felt like we had been duped. After discussing with the manager, we received tickets to the Medival Feast (again not comparable). I commend the working staff on trying to make it right but the managerment and promotions staff need to be held accountable. This promotion was sly and slimey and I feel there was never any real intention of giving customers free Cirque tickets.

The room/hotel was great! The view of New York New York was awesome! We watched the roller coaster and the wonderful bright lights of the strip. The room was clean and comfortable, and aside from the booking concerns, we enjoyed our stay. However the booking concerns would prevent me from staying there in the future. Something was fishy about the entire promotion.

Room Tip: If it sounds too good to be true it probably is!!!

las vegas is a must for anyone who enjoys nightlife an site seeing combined. the hotel and casino excalibur is one of the best on the strip with four excellent pools and one of the busier casino's with well mannerd staff an a high level of cleanlyness. we also did a trip to the grand canyon and hoover dam which are fantastic sites our tour guide cowboy dave was very well educated about thewhole tour and very entertaining he made the trip.

I recently stayed at Excalibur (Jan 2012). I had booked a trip from Thursday evening to Tuesday evening. The primary hotel I was planning to stay at was ridiculously priced for that Thursday evening. Knowing that I was not landing in Vegas until 10:30pm and having to check out by 11am, it didn't make sense to pay over $149 for that evening. Instead, I decided to book the first night's stay at Excalibur. I had booked a Widescreen room.

It was nothing fancy. A comfortable bed, decent bathroom, and a flat screen TV. For those that have never stayed at the Excalibur previously, the widescreen room are the newer/renovated rooms. I wouldn't recommend staying at the older rooms. For $55 a night, there's nothing really much to complain about. If you're looking for fancy, this is not the room or hotel for you. If you want a decent place to crash while you're checking out the Vegas strip, then this is a great rate and decent stay.

The staff is very nice and friendly. You barely had to wait in line before you're attended to.

If you have an MGM player's card, you can use it while gambling at the Excalibur (as it's an MGM property). The casino is not as smokey as some of the others at night. There's lots of slots and table games for the people looking to gamble. I believe the daily poker tournament buy in is only $30 or $35.

If you want to grab a drink, Dick's Last Resort within the hotel is a fun place to grab some food and/or drink.

The hotel has a walkway to the Luxor hotel so you don't have to go outside. There is an overpass to go to the New York New York hotel. From New York New York, there is also an overpass to go to MGM Grand.

The vending machines in the hotel typically charge a ridiculous $3 for a bottle of water or pop. What I typically do is walk to the Walgreens (on the strip) just past the MGM Grand and get my drink/snacks for the room. Much much cheaper if you're staying a few days.

For those who want to explore the strip without cabbing everywhere, there is a Monorail within the MGM Grand. You can typically purchase single ride or all day passes.

The hotel is very close to McCarran airport. So, you don't have to leave too early to head to the airport. You can typically get there within 10 minutes by cab.

Overall, I have no problem recommending this hotel to someone just looking for decent to cheaply priced stay on the strip. I would sooner recommend this hotel before the Luxor (as its rooms have been aging). The Excalibur renovated rooms (Widescreen room) are more than decent for the less picky. If you're looking for a luxurious/fancy hotel/hotel room experience, then you need to look at other options towards the middle of the strip. It really comes down to expectations when staying on the strip.

Room Tip: Make sure you look for a widescreen room.
