“Would stay here again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

This was our first trip to Vegas so we didn't know which hotel to choose. We took a gamble with the Mirage, and overall we really liked it. There was a snafu with checking in (Travelocity and Mirage didn't communicate with each other) that we had to resolve twice - that was kind of obnoxious. BUT they gave us a $75 food credit for our trouble, so that was satisfying.

The major PROS: we had a non-smoking room and it did NOT smell like smoke. Excellent! GREAT MEAL at BLT inside the Mirage - delicious burgers. Man, it was good. Starbucks was in the hotel, too - nice. Right across the street are McDonalds, Chipotle, Subway, Outback Steakhouse, Panda Express, etc. This saved us a TON of money (every casino's restaurants are expensive) and was SO convenient. There is also a "Tix 4 Tonight" booth (discount show tickets) across the street in the Casino Royale building. Very convenient. Great location overall -- we hung around the Bellagio, Mirage, Caesar's, and the Venetian mostly so it was perfect for us. We took a long walk down to the MGM Grand one night and it was a l-o-n-g walk home. There's a tram but we didn't want to pay for it. The Volcano was cool - we could see it right outside our window but it didn't wake us when had to go to bed early. Casino was fine; nothing amazing but we enjoyed it. Very easy to get cabs outside.

CONS: The room fiasco, which was eventually made right. Doors are really thin and you can hear everything in the hallway. Pool was closed - 72 degrees is perfect swimming weather for an Ohioan, but not so much in Vegas. :) The Buffet wasn't all that great -- wish we had eaten at BLT again instead of trying the buffet, but oh well.

What a great experience to stay right on the strip in Las Vegas. We had a nice clean room with a great view. The location was ideal with easy access to everthing. Downside was the wait at the front desk on checkin and checkout. So Slow, and cigarete smoke everywhere!

Different in a great way from the last time we stayed here. The casino however did the same damage to the wallet which is why I'm sure their carpet is in perfect condition. The pool was a little dead but considering it was a little chilly it was better than expected.

My husband and I were just there in May and booked again for later this month. The location is excellent and the rooms are clean and updated. I especially liked the tram connecting to TI and then just a short walk to the fashion show mall right next door. The BB King restaurant is a lot of fun; great food and entertainment.

Room Tip: Ask for a compliementary upgrade when checking in - they always seem to give it.

I haven't stayed at the Mirage in few years, but from I did enjoy the stay. The rooms are very nice and clean... If you get a forward facing room with a room of the volcano, be aware you do hear it go off depending on where the room is located. It used to go off every 15 minutes, this was quite a few years ago so the timing may have changed, but I am certain you'll still hear it. It didn't bother me at all, but some it may so be sure to inquire upon booking-should you want more info on that.

The volcano is pretty cool. It rumbles and comes to life and as long as its not too windy out it goes off starting at dusk at 15 min intervals (timing may have changed). Definitely make sure you check that out.

You have Ceasars and Treasure Island Hotels on either side of you, and Venetian is somewhat across the way. So, the Mirage is in a good location to other places and somewhat central.

If you are into eating meat (some aren't) there is a very good Brazilian type restaurant located inside the Mirage-Samba Steakhouse. I enjoyed it. If you aren't familiar with the concept its pretty cool, you basically order your sides and then waiters come around with all types of meats to carve in front of you. You have a paddle or a card at your table with a red side (stop) and a green side (go) and they will keep coming around as long as your paddle is green. If you want to eat whats on your plate you flip it to red and they won't bother you until you're ready.

The rooms are not overly expensive, it all depends on when you decide to book so you may want to compare prices during different times and against different hotels to see if it works for you.

Enjoy.

We had a great stay at the Mirage. It is in a terrific location. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a very enjoyable time. I do not smoke and the casino did not seem too smokey. That was a real plus.

Dear Jean W,

Thank you for your positive comments. The Mirage has been a proactive leader in acting to aggressively keep our property comfortable for all of our guests. We have state of the art air filtration and circulation systems in place throughout our property and we have taken an active role in eliminating smoking in our main walkways, lobby area, restaurants, restrooms, guest room hallways, and convention areas to name a few. In addition, we converted several smoking floors to non-smoking status during our last room remodel, for a total of 96% non-smoking rooms. We are so glad to hear that our pro-active measures have not gone unnoticed. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Best,
