“Careful of that minibar!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Really nice stay here from 22-28 November. Cannot really add much to previous reviews, except to say be VERY careful of not just the minibar but the water and peanuts on the stand above. We knew about the pressure sensors in the minibar from posts on here, but this applies to everything available for purchase. I lifted up a packet of cashews to take a look and had USD13 added to my bill!! This was taken off when I reassured the desk guy that I hadn't actually eaten them.

Another tip - if driving and to avoid the queues on the strip (which added at least 30 minutes to our journeys if at the wrong time of day) use the highway! Only two junctions from Tropicana to Spring Mountain Road (for Mirage and TI) and takes about 5 minutes.

Obviously the resort fees of USD25 per day plus tax add up as well - very annoying hidden cost for just free wifi, and we may well consider one of the non resort fee hotels next time to avoid the extra USD170

It’s great to here that you had a really nice stay with us and I wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! I am sorry to hear of your frustration associated with the mini bar in your guest room, though. I'd like to assure you that we have three notices in each guest room about the mini bar. (One is located on the actual tray with the cashews - one of my personal favorite items. The second is located in the mini bar and third is located on the menu. The notices in these three places are to let our guests know that the mini bars are equipped with sensors and any time an item is moved, the guest will be charged.)

I would also like to take a moment to share some information about out Resort fee. They are common in most major tourism destinations in the United States and help keep our guests from having to pull out their wallet every time they need an extra service or amenity. The fees are stated on our hotel reservations websites, prior to a guest making a reservation. Information about the fees is also stated by our reservation agents when a guest makes a reservation over the telephone. In order to add value with our resort fee, we decided to add the top requests we have received from our guests. This includes in-room internet access, complimentary access to our Fitness Center, daily newspaper, complimentary notary services at the Business Service Center, boarding passes printed at the Business Service Center or Concierge Desk, copies and faxes through the Business Service Center and unlimited local and toll-free calls. I would be happy to correspond with you via tripadvisor@mirage.com, if you have any questions or if I can assist in any way. Again, thank you for sharing your feedback and I hope you find this information helpful for your next stay with us.

Sincerely,

Candice Cordery

The Mirage is nowhere near the best, most exciting hotel or casino on the Strip. But the services and amenities they offer are consistently done well. The pit is for 40-somethings, not 20-somethings. The pool is busy because it's a nice pool.

If your expectations are right-sized for this hotel, I think you'd be pleased. Only concern is that it is at the north end of the modern Strip so casino-hopping isn't very convenient.

Spacious comfortable rooms, and I slept well despite the jet-lag. These are quiet rooms that are truly non-smoking. Great location.

The wi-fi was free, but it wasn't so reliable and had dial-up speed, which should be improved for business travellers.

Beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking.

Stayed at this hotel from the 17th of November for a week and its was great! The room (that was overlooking the strip & the volcano) had two very comfy queen bed and was spacious the only bad point about the room was the stupidly overpriced minibar - I'm not joking they wanted about £4.00 for a twix!!! The location is great, right in the middle of the strip - perfect for exploring Vegas. Two mornings my partner and I did the buffet restaurant called "Cravings" there was a endless choice and all drinks were free (this is the same in the evening as long as its not alcohlic) At the time of booking we were not advised of the $100 security deposit needed at check in - this was not either in the brochure or on the hotels own website, however it was refunded within a couple of days of checking out. We found the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful as were the waiters and cleaners, who did a excellent job around the hotel as in the room. I would without hesitation stay at this hotel again - I had a great time in the hotel and Vegas was excellent in every way

Room Tip: I requested a strip view room at check in but they had none left with a king bed so we had two queen...

Best location on the strip. Easy walk to other venues - even for 60+ retiree in fair shape. The beautiful pool was open in November and not crowded. The pillow top mattress and deluxe bedding made for a great well rested vacation. We stayed 4 nights so that was very important to us. The air quality in the casino at the Mirage seems better than other hotel casinos we visited. None of that fake chemical deodorant smell. Not as smokey either. "Blizz" frozen yogurt place, near the pool entrance, has very good (& fast) breakfast crepes. I almost hate to say that here, because now it might get too crowded when the word gets out. Sweet fruit crepes and savory crepes were both delicious. (try the spinich, mushroom, cheese) We also loved the coffee drinks from The Roasted Bean just across the walkway from Blizz.. We will be staying at the Mirage again on our next trip.

Great hotel! Would recommend at any time. Costs $10 a night to obtain a room with a view. Resort fee = $25/night which is costly especially if you don't use those options. Have stayed here many times though.

we the volcano eruption show very much. Our room was facing it and every time we heard the rumble we got up to watch it. Rooms were clean, and great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would stay at the Mirage again.
