“Our room was a real mirage in noisy Vegas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2011

If you want peace and quiet at night, ask for a quiet room: you won´t overlook the Strip but the mountains in the distance and maybe you´ll hear the traffic in the highway (not really disturbing) but, most important, you´ll get a good night´s sleep.
The wi-fi in this hotel is free for guests in the rooms and that is a plus because most (good and expensive) hotels in Las Vegas charge over $10 for 24 hours.
A piece of advice as for meals: pay for the 24-hour-all-you-can-eat-buffet in a group of seven hotels in Las Vegas: breakfast at The Lago buffet in Caesar´s Palace (a very short walk from The Mirage) is really good (the scrambled eggs are really that -in many places in the US, asking for scrambled eggs means you´ll an omelette - and the choice for breakfast is really wide and good). And when you are thirsty during the day, you walk into any of the hotels, get something to drink while you recover from the heat outside, and you´ll feel great to go out again (and remember buying fresh water in Las Vegas is expensive and you tend to drink a lot, so the price you pay for the buffet is worth any cent of it)
At the Mirage, you get a free paper for guests at the gift shop.
The situation of this hotel is very good, too, right in the middle of the Strip, in front of The Venetian and next to Caesar´s Palace.
We went to see "Love" by Cirque du Soleil at the hotel theatre: we loved it! Not cheap but two hours of joy for your eyes and ears

Room Tip: Quiet rooms face the back of the hotel

Good News! Clean Hotel. Comfortable rooms/beds. Nice pool. Clean casino. Good restaurants. The Love show was good and the Terry Fator show was great.

Bad News! I was overcharged for 2nd consecutive stay and had to spend a lot of time in line to correct billing errors. Couple very unfriendly Paigow dealers in casino. (but others were nice)

Overall - I'd go back. Too many nice things about the Mirage to not stay there! I recommend breakfast at BB Kings, a sandwich at the Carnegie Deli, an afternoon by the pool, dinner at Cravings buffet, and the Terry Fator show. Sneak in a little casino time in between and don't forget an "All Nighter" shake at BLT Burger!!! If you get an unfriendly table dealer at the casino, just cash out and move to another table and you should get a better one.

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T JUST LEAVE OR USE EXPRESS CHECKOUT WITHOUT CHECKING YOUR BILLING STATUS !! (You can check it on your tv)

Room Tip: Like all Vegas Hotels - 1. Get a players card from casino to get online offers 2. Southwest.com pac...

The Mirage is in a good location towards the top end of the strip. The pool is large and the area in a very nice setting, though at times was very busy, with a bubble pool set in a secluded area. During the mid day it was too hot to sit even in the shade round the pool, and sunbeds were difficult to fine, after about 4pm it was a little more comfortable and less busy. The hotel and casino areas were fairly busy most of the time, I wouldnt recommend here for a relaxing holiday, though lots going on for busy evenings! The rooms are ok, comfortable beds though not much else to impress. Bathrooms adequate though fairly tight for space. Everything was reasonbly clean but not as much as other hotels visited in USA.
Having visited the buffet on a previous holiday we were looking forward to breakfast, however our table server was quite ignorant and the food was a bit of a let down after eating at Rio's buffet. Staff here were generally not that polite.
Be aware of the rip off 'resort fees' which the MGM group has started to add to the room costs ( bad enough at $15 per day but they tried charging $20!+ tax)- which is not optional, and had nothing any of us used - and would expect to be included anyway - gowns in the bedroom, Wifi and the gym. The hotel is nice with some good features, but no longer offers good value for money.

So far I've stayed at the Planet Holleywood, Mandalay Bay, Treasure Island and now The Mirage. Definilty a step up from some of the hotels on the strip. If you like to lounge poolside than consider the Mirage. Great Pool! No problem bringing you're own drinks in and lots of water and chair space (although there are many 'reserved chairs by towels" which kind a sucked.) More of a hotel for couples there to relax. Not a tonn of younchloud people and proabbly not the best hotel for anyone with kids... (Mandalay Bay had a great river pool and wave pool)

Overall very great location, clean hotel, decent value....Only complaint I had was the check in and out sucked! Had a resort fee we were never told about (although some other hotles have this as well) Felt like forever to check in and got a crappy room (view) the room was great but we looked out eye-level at some ventalation ducts. Oh well more reason to go sit by the pool.

Make sure you see the dolphins and the erupting volcano show at night.....

Room Tip: This was our only issue...so can`t provide advice...not sure... but try ot get one facing the pool!

We stayed there in the Christmas of 2009. Gotta love the Mirage. I have been to Vegas 4 times now and this is the 3rd stay at the Mirage. We got the opportunity to see Mr Las Vegas when we were here. Yes Wayne Newton is getting older but hell for someone who has performed so many times I was still happy to see him. It was one of his last shows before he retired.

On to the hotel, We stayed in 2 Deluxe rooms. Since we are Mlife members we did not pay for either of the rooms for the 7 night stay we were there. Our casino host too was awesome. She let us stay in our rooms until 5pm without an extra fee because our flight was leaving late in the evening. We had the buffet and it was awesome. I guess I should mention that we were there at Christmas time. The other food choices were good also.

We went into the Secret Garden and got to see the twin cubs. They were so cute and cuddly. The dolphins were out and playing also. We didn't stay much around the Casino though. We played in the mornings and then again late at night. We toured through all of the other casinos and spent most of our time down on Freemont Street.

The beds are very comfortable and the room is spacious enough. I don't understand why people complain about the room being small, the bathroom being tiny and the view being not very good. Honestly how much time do you spend in the bathroom ? Its supposed to be a vacation so get out and see things. The view well honestly when I get into a room I look to see the view and then that's it.
Long story short Mirage is awesome. Make sure you sign up for a card though wherever you go since the little amounts of spending add up to comps down the road.

Check-in at 3:15 pm was very easy as they had opened extra windows on the north side of the lobby. Staff was not overly friendly but nice. We had to call twice because our TV would not work. Service man finally came and unplugged TV and plugged it back in again. It fixed the TV but why couldn't someone had told us to try it ourselves when we called. There were 3 of us in the room. It was big enough for all of us without feeling cramped. We had a non-smoking room that smelled stale when Air Conditioning was not running. Maids would turn off A/C after they cleaned the room. We would return to a stale and hot room. A/C cooled off the room in10-15 minutes. We did not use the pool as it was too crowded.
The location on the strip was fantastic. Easy access to Caesar's, TI, Venetian, Palazzo and Harrah's.

We stayed at the Mirage for 3 nights and it was terrible! I have been to Vegas a few times in the past and this was by far the worst hotel. We went for a 30th birthday party and they stayed at the Encore which was definitely the better choice. I have stayed at the Paris and Treasure Island and i would pick those over the Mirage anyday. They have a resort fee which was $67 for 3 nights. For that extra $67 you could stay at a way better hotel without resort fees. We had other friends staying at the mirage as well and they had Champagne delivered to their rooms (we did not) and had a comp ungrade. When we first checked in they "upgraded" us to a better view. Total lie...we were stuck on the 12th flood overlooking the pool at the end of the hallway in a smoking room. Worst hotel EVER. We will never stay here again. The hotel staff was rude and watch out for the cleaners they like to steal make up, watches and electronics which of course the hotel staff did nothing about! Our friends went back to their hotel room one night and found another guest in their room....and yes of course the hotel staff did nothing about this either. Next time if we go we will be staying at the Bellagio or the Venetian.. you can stay there without resort fees for basically the same price of the Mirage. Definitely recommend Treasure Island if your looking for cheaper but classy.
