“Needs to be cleaned and updated!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012 via mobile

Front desk was very nice. Hotel needs to be cleaned and updated. Cocktail waitress never came by. Had to call security for loud neighbors. We stayed 3 days and they only cleaned the room once had to call for towels.

Please allow me to personally apologize for the less than professional service you received from my housekeeping team. I will ensure that they are made aware that you were not satisfied with the service you received at the Riviera. I wish myself or one of my managers could have spoken to you so and turned your stay around while you were still here.

Thank you

From the moment you enter the lobby and casino this is clearly an out of date, smoky smelling hotel that needs a lot of work to make it somewhere you'd like to stay. After waiting on a long line at check in we asked for a specific type of room and when we got to the room it wasn't what we asked for and then wound up having to go back to the front desk and try again. The room we had was supposedly "partially" updated but we couldn't tell what part was updated. Old carpet, old wall paper, bathroom completely outdated with no drain stop in the sink etc. Walls thin and could hear every word the people next door said. Stayed a few nights and the second day the room wasn't even cleaned...no apology when we called and told them this.

I was certainly distressed to hear of the difficulties you encountered while our guest. I will be sure to follow up with my housekeeping management team and let them know that this cannot happen. As for the rooms we encourage our guests to book in the newly remodeled Monaco tower as it is our flagship room product. With any service issue we highly encourage our guests to please reach out to a member of management so that we have the ability to make things right.

Thank you

I was flying alone and meeting friends there for a H.S. reunion so i was kinda nervous but it was really nice to be greeted by an island girl from Hawaii. Her name was Nicole and if there wasn't a line, i could have talked to her forever. She told me about the 2 ABC stores in the hotel (they're like 7-11's to us Hawaiians, one on each block) so it was nice to get some snacks and they even had sushi. I think all of the ppl in the ABC stores were from Hawaii too so it really felt comforting. Nicole also told me that the Society of Seven was playing there with Jasmine Trias so yeah of course i had to get tickets. We usually stay on freemont street for the "Local Atomsphere" but it's really nice to know that at the Riviera there's a real welcoming sense of "Aloha".
The only con I noticed was the housekeeping service. I had to call housekeeping to have them make up the room on the second day and even then the maid just left the dirty towels on the floor.

Thank you so much for the Fantastic review of your stay. It is so good to hear that our efforts in customer service are working. The Riviera does its best to offer each and every guest a level of service and value that can't be beat on the Strip. I will be sure to let Nichol know that you appreciated her efforts.

Thank you

after arriving at the hotel and checking in we went to our room and slept. Next day we needed toilet paper and called housekeeping only to be told we'd get it when the room got clean. The room got cleaned between 4-5 pm. Really? The vents were FILTHY and we had to call to get those cleaned as well. The veiw was awful and the employees not terribly friendly. The buffet was'nt bad, but when we went to get more food, they were cleaning our table off. We had not even been there 30 minutes and it happened to another person as well. We spent most of our time and money at CIRCU CIRCUS. They were friendly and food was GREAT. We chose Riviera for history of the old Las Vegas, but WE would not recommend this hotel to anyone. On a 1-10 scale we give it a 4.

Room Tip: no tipslook at rooms before giving an ok.

Rooms are nice mini frig is a rare thing and much needed. We won more here than the dozens of cainos we stopped and and played it this whole trip. Players Club people were friendly as was cashiers and waitresses. Maybe park of the off beaten strip path but worth stopping by to play. Besides this is where most movies are shot at you might become an extra on the big screen.

Room Tip: non smokeing is always cleaner

Overall for the money it doesnt get much more affordable then the Riv. We upgraded for $45 extra a night for a junior suite in the south tower....cig stains on the carpet, rotten sofa, broken toilet, and a broken TV that was easily from the 90s (TV was no biggie because who comes to Vegas to watch TV anyways?). My husband tried to see if we could switch it out but the unhelpful lady at the desk shut him down quick advising him of what a "deal" we were getting (skinny middle aged with glasses) It had a great view (despite the dirty windows you could barely see out of) and the bed was awesome so all and all not horrible but I wouldnt stay there again. Casino is fun and the food is amazing. (R steak house is a must- fabulous food and service!!!) I had the most fun on this end of the strip and its a short trip on the deuce or a 20-25 min walk to the main part of the strip... If your on a budget or just dont care about things like broken toilets and stains id go for it but we wont be going back...sorry Riv.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experiences at the Riviera. I am glad to hear that you appreciated some parts of your stay but I was saddened to hear that you had some service issues in your room and the front desk. We encourage our guests to speak to a member of management with any questions or concerns. We have an excellent team and we are able to correct almost every issue our guests may encounter. We also recommend to our guests to request the Monaco tower our most recently upgraded room product.

Thank you

We stayed at the Riviera for a conference that was booked there. The conference room rate was below low, so we never considered staying anywhere else. The room was completely adequate and completely unremarkable. Clean room with a fridge and flat screen. Inside corridors even on non smoking floors had that stale smell of decades of smoking. Not overpowering, but noticeable. Lots of black and white photos throughout the hotel with images of past celebrities who graced the stages there. Felt a little sad, honestly. An okay stay in an average hotel.

The Riviera strives to exceed all expectations and offer each guest a great stay at an above average value. I am sorry to hear that you felt our hotel and casino were only average but I was glad to hear that you appreciated the value. As for the smell of smoke in the hotel we do offer the Monaco tower this newly updated tower has is completely non smoking and we encourage all of our guests who are looking for a non smoking Vegas experience to try it.

Thank you
