“A tired old hotel, waiting for demolition.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

The only praise I can give the property is that the staff are very friendly. There has clearly been no investment in upkeep for quite some time, and the property is bedraggled. Dirty carpets, peeling wallpaper, broken fixtures and fittings, and in room air-con that is as loud as an idling truck.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

My husband and I had the great luck of being checked in by Nichol at the front desk, she was genuinely welcoming and gave us a great start to our stay.

She remarked that my wedding ring was really beautiful so I mentioned that we’re spending the night there for our honeymoon. When Nichol gave us the room keys, she thanked us for choosing the Riviera as a part of our honeymoon memories and gave us a complimentary upgrade to the luxury tower as their gift to us. I was literally about to cry I was so pleasantly surprised that a huge hotel like this still has a heart. It was a really nice room, high up and overlooking the strip, we were so happy.

My husband’s birthday is in early December and we’ve already booked 4 rooms (in the luxury tower) so that our family can hopefully have great experience at the Riviera as well.

Thanks again, Samantha Lopez-Marcs.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the luxury tower facing the strip, it's worth it.

Just checked out of the Riviera been they for 5 night what can I say , arrived on Saturday check in was very quick and the lovely Nichol was pleasant and upgraded us to Monoco Tower the room was very clean with twin kingsize beds and a great view if the strip. Room was clean with fresh linen and towels every day, although this hotel is one of the oldest it still has great buzz about the place I want to thank some lovely people who made our holiday even more special firstly the lovely Terren what a beautifull lady and a fun cocktail waitress and Michael T and Nick to very great bar tenders with such great tales of old Vegas all are a credit to the best Old hotels on the strip Long live the Riv

So I arrived and found that my reservation had been cancelled. Portia and Traci assisted in finding out why (will not go into details), they then found space for me in the Hotel and things have been great since. Their work is to be commended.

The food in the Queen Victoria was great. The machines that take your money were not as greedy as I thought they would be.

The R Steak and Seafood restaurant is truly a diamond in the rough. The Riviera may be on of the older hotels on the strip, and yes, a bit out of the way from all the fun of the strip, but we were pleasantly surprised when we took a recommendation to try out the R Steak and Seafood Restaurant. They exceeded all of our expectations. Absolutely great customer service since the moment you walk up to the waiter and meeting the chef. My husband ordered their rib eye and I ordered the filet mignon. They prepared it not just to our liking, but the presentations was absolutely a piece of art! One of the best steak house meals I have ever had and we have gone out quite a lot all over the country. It is an ala cart menu, so do be prepared to spend a little bit more than the average restaurant but the experience and the food are 100% worth every dollar!

Room Tip: Ask for the renovated rooms. Quality rooms for a great price!

My husband and I have been going to the Riviera for years. The last couple of years, my husband has been using an electric scooter when we visit and it is very easy for him to get around the gaming area. The handicap rooms are spacious (and the beds are very comfortable). We've stayed at other major hotels on the strip in so called handicap rooms where the space was tiny and no where to park the scooter. No problems at the Riv - they look out for all their guests! We send many thanks to Addy Coco and Dave Pate (our host) for making our visits enjoyable. We know our reservations are always input correctly and we are always greeted with a smile. Going to the Riviera is like coming home!

The Riv is a older hotel but all area (and I was everywhere it seemed) was clean and maintained. The beds were comfortable. The housekeeping staff friendly and helpful.
My prior recent visits to Vegas were at a hotel in the middle of the strip. That was good for getting around but I enjoyed my stay at the Riv much more this time. The strip is a walk but a short cab ride away.
