“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Stayed here in Aug. '12. Rooms are comfortable, and clean. Loved the location, on the corner of one of the busiest intersections in town. From here were able to enjoy food, drink, and gambling all within 10 minutes of our room. we enjoyed the pool area, ate at a couple of the hotels restaurants, and every morning enjoyed the Starbucks conveniently located inside the hotel, just past the casino. Will be staying here again.

Room Tip: We stayed as part of a package deal with WestJet. After booking I called the Trop to upgrade to the...

My husband, brother, friend and I stayed in 'the Trop' last October, I am not a Vegas fan (prefer to holiday in the great outdoors) but we were invited to Vegas for a family wedding and wanted to make the most of the experience. I spent a long time looking at hotel options as we didnt want something too loud or too big and were on a tight budget however we still wanted to feel like we were 'in Vegas' - the Tropicana was perfect. Quite simply the hotel just isnt as dark and smokey as other hotels on the strip - after wandering through the other casinos the Tropicana seemed so light and bright and the whole placed smelt of coconut which was really refreshing! The pool area is good and large though a little busy at times and the breakfast buffet on the balcony of the outdoor restaurant was wonderful. The rooms are large and clean and although are all tropical themed arent over the top. The location is also good for exploring the South End of the Strip (opposite Excalibur, next to MGM) and I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who is holidaying in Vegas (and although I had several reservations I would also recommend a short holiday in Vegas - just the once!).
I must also recommend the Mix Lounge Bar which is located across the Strip in 'the Hotel'. It is definitely not a bar for those afraid of heights as it is located on about the 60th floor and has an open air balcony with spectacular views across the Strip. We were amazed that it was fairly quiet, no cover charge and we were able to quietly enjoy the view from an outside booth - definitely worth stopping for a drink if you are close by.

Room Tip: If you are in the Palace Towers ask for a room with 'a Strip view' they cost the same (unles...

I would definitely stay here on my next visit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was absolutely neat and comfortable. Even the hallways had a nice and soft scent. If looking for a nice place to stay this is the place, it is affordable and has a good location.

So it was my girlfriend and mine first Holliday together and BOY what a great time!!!!
This hotel holds it own with ease compared to the others!! We found that it was so relaxing and refreshing compared to the rest of the strip. It has its own design and ambiance.
We found it to be one of the quieter hotels which you really do need in Vegas, but when the Niki Beach Bar opened its first night (white party) it was off the hook!!
The pooka areas in both the hotel pool and Niki Beach were very hot, sunny and 'cool'

I am heading back to Vegas in June for a mid life crisis visit with the guys and I hope that we will get to stay there again.

Room Tip: Stay high and face the pool not the airport!!

We were able to get a US Air vacation package. It included flight, room and three breakfasts ( $120 value). If this is available when you go, it is a good deal. On the flight out a fellow passenger suggested using the shuttle service to the hotel. Not worth it. You wait for the bus to fill up then wait and hope yours is the first hotel on the stops. As close as the Tropicana is to the airport the taxi fare is $12-15. That is much faster. One other bad thing about the shuttle. They suggest buying a round trip "token" for your trip back to the airport. They never showed up at the hotel. So we caught a taxi so we would not miss our flight.
The package specifies a room in the rear tower. We upgraded to the front tower for a small fee. Plus you get a view of the strip instead of the airport.
We did see one show during our trip.We chose "O" at the Bellagio. It was pricey but featured world class entertainment. It was truly amazing to watch the stunts performed by the cast.
The weather was hot. 104 degrees on some days. Because of the dry desert climate we could walk around and not sweat. Something we were not use to in North Carolina.
Most of our days were spent walking around visiting the other hotels. In Las Vegas, the hotels are the attractions. One tries to outdo the other.
It was a great trip and I look forward to returning again.

Room Tip: There are two towers. The front tower is the best for accessibility to the strip.

Thank you for your review, 797mbtp. I agree and would recommend a taxi over the shuttle. Just ensure the tax knows to take Tropicana Ave to get here. (will save you $10 from going the long way). We hope to see you on your next vacation. --Nicole Marshall nmarshall@troplv.com

A decent hotel in a great location. On the plus side: easy quick check-in, helpful courteous staff, 24 hour room service that gave us the best meal we had during our entire stay, windows in the room that opened for fresh air, local bus stop right outside the hotel, comfy beds and pillows, a good in-room safe, common areas kept quite clean, non-smoking floors that really were non-smoking. On the down side: bathroom showed signs of wear that were surprising given how recently the hotel was renovated (peeling wallpaper, corroded taps, tub re-finish that was flaking off etc.), we would have liked more on-site plain food options, and the casino was a little dull. Given LV's many hotel options, we might choose another location next time, but would do so for variety, not because we found anything seriously deficient about the Tropicana.

I stayed in the Tropicana last week for a couple of nights. I was there for meetings and CES and while this was not my choice for a hotel (someone else made my arrangements), I was very pleasantly surprised. Tropicana is in the process of a complete renovation and they have done quite a nice job with it. Rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable, but the service and friendliness of the staff were incomparably wonderful. Very polite and genuine -- consistently from the front door to the housekeepers. When the construction is complete, I bet it will really be nice. I'll definitely return!

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk a great distance to your room, choose one in the Paradise Tower at the...
