We were far away from family this Thanksgiving, and I wanted to give my kids a special memory, so we spent 2 nights at the Monte Carlo so I could take them to Cirque du Soleil and Adventuredome. I chose the Monte Carlo because of their pools! Yes it was 66 degrees outside, but my kids (ages 12, 9 and 7) couldn't wait to get in the nice warm Lazy River pool. Quite a sight. The lifeguard was wearing a hoody with fur trim, watching a bunch of kids splashing about!
I found the hotel very agreeable. Comfortable room, great location. The buffet for Thanksgiving was really good, although wasted on my typical American kids who wouldn't try any of the varied and delicious dishes offered! Our second night, we asked for a rollaway bed so my son wouldn't have to share a bed with me, and it was delivered promptly; boy, have rollaway beds improved since I was a kid!
My only problem was with how very easy (and FAST!) it was for a 9-year-old to find porn previews on the TV -- wow!!! I'm sure there must be a way to block that stuff but it was too late for me. Also, there are absolutely NO kids' channels on the TV so warn the little darlings that they'll have to miss iCarly.
Vegas can be great for kids if you're diligent about the "adult entertainment". I can heartily recommend "Mystere" as a family show; we all loved it! And I was a little reticent about Adventuredome at Circus Circus, but it was great. This may become our new Thanksgiving tradition!
