I traveled to Vegas for my 50th birthday vacation. I chose the Monte Carlo because of the value, location and the free room I earned playing MyVegas. It turned out to be a great decision.
The front desk staff were nothing short of amazing. I had a credit card issue and it quickly became a non-issue. The comp'd room was a deluxe, while my paid reservation was High Floor. Upon arrival, I was offered an upgrade to the free room, so that I would not have to change rooms afterwards. I ended up on the 28th floor with a strip/mountain view. The room was clean, quiet and in a perfect location on the floor. I was even asked if I "minded a non-smoking, one bed room"--would I mind? Ha! Heaven!!! The hotel was not so big that I spent half my time walking to the elevator. I'm not a room service person, so it was very convenient to hit the food court each morning for coffee and breakfast. The first night, I ate and drank at the Pub and it was awesome. Had drinks at Brand during happy hour and enjoyed the Blue Man Group procession.
The room was cleaned completely every day and each member of the housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient. I never smelled smoke on the floor and it was generally quiet--even though it was Superbowl weekend.
I've read other reviews and was originally worried. Could the furniture and decor use some updating? Sure, but this fact did not negatively affect my stay. I slept in my room and occasionally ate--not a deal-killer for me. My room was clean, functional and the bed was SUPER comfortable.
I enjoy the "themes" of Vegas and have a feeling some of the newer hotels take away from this--and maybe I'm rare and that's why it's happening :-) I appreciate the novelty of MC, NYNY, Paris, Caesars--love it!
All of the great stuff being said, my only negative comment is that I must have said over 50 times to 50 people that I was celebrating my 50th birthday--no champagne, no free drink and rarely a happy birthday. Although I was not expecting special treatment, I will say that I went out to dinner with my sister 3 of my 8 days and at each place, I got a song, a dessert with a candle or something to show it was a special occasion. A personal touch would have been nice...and would have helped with their "VIP" slogans. (that was a little nit-picky, I know, but still...)
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who asked and I will book for each future trip.
Get a high floor strip view--you will enjoy waking up to the view each morning!
