“Somewhat disappointing stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

The room size was adequate, the bed was decently comfortable, water pressure was wonderful, the pool area was nice, and the gaming floor was nice. The location of the hotel on the strip is pretty good, too. But, there were negatives.

When we checked in, we were not given the king bed room with a strip view we'd reserved because the hotel said it was taken. We were given the option to change to a kind bed room with a strip view the next day. We were told to check between 1-5 p.m. to change rooms. We were also told that we had to check into that room between those hours otherwise we'd lose that room option. The next day, we checked around 3 p.m. to see if our new room was available and we were told "no, the other guests haven't checked out yet." (We confirmed that check out was supposed to be at 11 a.m., but the hotel gave us no other explanation.) So, we had to stay around the resort to wait on our room. Not getting into rooms at a decent time seems to be a problem with this resort as our friends weren't able to check into their room until 7 p.m. on their day of arrival. Also, none of the rooms (the two we stayed in and the 3 our friends occupied) seemed to cool off. They were very warm even with the AC turned down.

Overall, we'd stay here again only if we got a really good deal. (And we'd cross our fingers that we'd get into the room we reserved the first night and at a decent time.)

I should've done more research before booking this hotel on our USA trip. I had had high expectations for Las Vegas and our stay at the Monte Carlo but they fell very short due to our hotel experience.

Our check in experience was no hassle, we were greeted by friendly reception staff. However the hotel is very outdated and needs an upgrade and perhaps a really good clean. Upon check in we were given a room on the 23rd level. The room was not up to par at all, there were questionable stains on the furniture and on the bed facing the window the sheets were old, grey and had holes in them! I am not even sure how housekeeping had decided these were good enough to be placed on the bed in the first place. I did call up reception who were happy enough to let us change rooms after I complained and we were moved to level 30.

The casino itself had an awful domestic cleansing smell which I assume is used to mask the smoking smell. The carpets are stained and uneven so be careful when walking to avoid tripping. We did not use the pool, it seemed to be empty on the days we were here.

Housekeeping also came really early in the mornings around 9am, and would consequently not return till later in the afternoon when we were back in our rooms to rest before the evening and so cleaning was done while we were in our rooms.

For the price you pay I would honestly suggest forking out the extra cash and staying more towards the middle of the strip at the other casinos its actually not too expensive at all to stay in Vegas save yourself the hassle and go with the slightly more expensive ones. This hotel also has no wifi access which I did not understand considering it is 2013 and we are paying a resort fee to stay here. The only good thing about this hotel was the citycenter tram which took you across to the Bellagio. You couldnt catch this tram enough to get away from this hotel!

We had a nice room looking at the mountains. Clean and comfy. A little dated and hall carpet outside room really needed a cleaning. Has a nice pool area and lots of shade. No outside drinks or food allowed even though the food court is just steps in the door. Would be nice if you could bring that out as it helps with the budget. Several choices at food court which is nice change from buffets although I really like buffet. Their buffet is nice with several choices.
We have stayed at several hotels on the strip but were really happy with the Monte Carlo. Would recommend. I only rated the spa because the gym was in there. It worked well for us but we were there by 7am and a few time it got a little busy.

I've stayed here 6 times and have never had a bad experience. I've stayed in the regular rooms and the suites and would recommend both. The service is excellent and very friendly staff. The only downside is the resort fee but Monte Carlo's is less than most in Las Vegas.

The hotel lobby and pool are very nice, the rooms need updating as they don't even have a mini bar or refrigerator, it was also difficult to find a plug and the room we stayed in had the door which can connect to the room next to us, but it seemed very inconvenient as we could hear everything next door. Even if it was just a conversation, it sounded too loud.

We have stayed at the Monte Carlo more times than I care to remember and we keep going back for the location, casino and the staff.
While the rooms are nice (Monaco Suite) some are starting to look a little worn. While some updated have been done overall some refurbishing is needed.

The location is ideal for the strip and the tram to city center and Bellagio is a bonus. The restaurants are ok. We always visit the Pub and the café. In all the visits we have never done the buffet. Not our thing.

The staff is always helpful and pleasant. From check in the housekeeping to servers and casino staff. They are all welcoming and nice. The valet staff is especially pleasant and always helpful.

Overall, I think the Monte Carlo is a very good value and of course if you stay with them a do some gambling, the super discount or free offers keep coming. We always take advantage of those for our trips because although we have family in Vegas, we stay on the strip for the fun.

If you have not tried the Monte Carlo, give it a shot. We have stayed at several other properties on the strip but keep coming back to the Monte Carlo for the value.

Room Tip: Usually upgrades to the Monaco Suite are reasonably priced. They are very convenient to the elevator...

Last minute trip to enjoy the Labor Day weekend. At check in, the staff was pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and the hotel was quiet. The casino is where I wanted to be and the tables were nice to me. Restaurants were decent and the service was great! Its in a nice location on the strip making it convenient to explore. The room rate was relatively affordable considering it was a holiday. We will be back!
