“Good Value in Vegas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

I like this hotel in Vegas because of its size and location. It's much smaller than most Vegas strip hotels which make it easy to get in and out of. The restaurants are also good. The only negative is that there is always a long line in the lobby to check in or out. We also saw Blue Man Group, which was awesome.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for the 32nd floor, very nice and great amenities. Or upgrade to a Monaco...

We have a wonderful time! Service in every area was top notch! We done as much in our hotel as could be done in 3 days, dining, casino, shopping, bar, pool area and coffee! Can't wait to come back to Monte Carlo!

Loved this hotel! Beautiful, great slots, great beds, great pool! The pool was easy to access from lobby, didn't have to walk through entire hotel to get to it. Great service and variety of eating choices. Friendly staff.

My husband and I recently visited Las Vegas - 20 years since our last visit. We knew, of course, that things had changed. Still a shock! We booked our Southwest Vacation through a travel agent, and chose The Monte Carlo on recommendation of several friends that had stayed there. The Monte Carlo is what we decided to call the "New Las Vegas". All the hotels in the area are huge (although the Monte is smaller by comparison) and restaurants are extremely over-priced. However, it is a very nice hotel, and there are several nice ones around it. For the plus side: Although check-in isn't until 3:00 p.m., and we arrived before that, we were able to check in early. When traveling from Iowa, where it was 20 degrees, to the warmth of Las Vegas, it was nice to get into our room immediately and change into shorts/sandals. The Hard Rock Cafe and M&M's World are literally across the street! We love both. The room was "average" - we have actually stayed in nicer rooms at a Marriott. But it was clean and we didn't spend a lot of time in it, so it was fine. We liked the food court - McDonald's is a relatively easy/cheap breakfast, and we liked Diablo's Cantina. The other restaurants there were very over-priced, but as we found out, much of the food in Vegas is. The bell staff was awesome and we were able to rent a car at the desk in the hotel. Also, free parking in the parking garage (although we didn't need it). We discovered the tram, which will take you, for free, to the Aria and all the way to the Bellagio. That was a huge plus! Now for the minuses: No wi-fi in the room, only wired internet access. We didn't bring a laptop (how many people travel with a laptop on vacation to Vegas), so that was of no benefit to us. Each time we were going to chat with the concierge to ask a question, or get information, there was a long waiting line. Housekeeping did not put coffee cups in our room the second day. The view was terrible. We saw the back side of the New York, New York and heard screaming constantly from people on their roller coaster. All in all, we would probably stay here again. However, if you stay here, when you check in, make sure you tell them to keep your credit card open......they closed ours immediately upon check in, so we were not able to charge anything using our room key. We went to the pool, and because we didn't have cash on us, and couldn't use our room card as our "charge card", had to make a trip back up to the room to get cash for drinks. Not convenient. For the most part, the staff seemed friendly, and we had a great time in Vegas!

The Monte Carlo is a very good choice for staying on the strip. The room was comfortable and the staff is very welcoming. Having the monorail at this hotel was a big plus. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great place to stay and easy to navigate. Good gaming, restaurants and a very friendly staff. The location is good and it is easy to access many of the other casinos by bus, tram and by walking. The only negative I would say about the location is that there is no straight walk, you must go up and down to reach other casinos but its worth it.

Our first time in LV, we had not realised that every hotel was like a small town or to get to anywhere you have to walk through the casino, we were only staying in LV to get to the part of California we were visiting, so two nights was all we wanted.

However cafe staff were very helpful and obliging but he whole place just aims to free you from your money! Exorbitant charge for ATM. No wifi, no real Internet access - come on this is the 21 st century! housekeeping was sloppy, no coffee the first night only one bottle of water the second though we had paid extra for these amenities, Wired Internet access was available but not possible to use with an IPad. beds not properly made Just the covers pulled up and tucked
In sheets not straightened out
Choice of eating places adequate but again pricey. Maybe we are just not Vegas savvy.

Green Features: Don't think they had any, except towel re use, no recycling facilities obvious
