“Faded but OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

We stayed at the Monte Carlo for one night in December 2012, after we couldn't extend out stay at another hotel.

Check in was quite efficient and clearly geared towards dealing with large numbers, with the line resembling check in at an airport. For that, it was was quick and had us in our rooms quickly (even if no one wanted to show us where the elevators were).

The Monte Carlo is very competitively priced, at least for accommodation, but has seen better days. Rooms are smallish and are looking quite tired, particularly in the bathrooms. There is no wifi internet (really!) but the wire into the wall provided quite good speeds. Bad luck if you're on a tablet, of course.

Absurdly, the Monte Carlo charges a 'resort fee' despite there being nothing resembling a resort service included. Please, just add it as part of the bill and be done!

We didn't try the restaurants out, being buffeted-out at that stage, but just grabbed a snack in the food court. Again, it was just OK.

Location is fair with reasonable access the strip and monorail connections to hotels you'd rather be in.

Overall, OK for a night or two to crash in, but don't go expecting anything fancy.

took a vacation with the family. stayed in a suite on the 30th floor. as everyone else says, location is great. everything else is decidedly average, especially with the plethora of other choices immediately surrounding, and the newer ones (Cosmopolitan, Aria, Vdara) right next to it. The room was clean and well furnished, but definitely showing its age in style and decor. For the price though, I think you can get something more modern and a bit nicer.

Stayed In Nov for 3 nights for my first trip to Vegas. Got a good price on Hotwire which made it worthwhile. Room was nice, comfortable beds. Big bathroom with nice marble tiled floors. My biggest issue is the $ 20.00/night resort fee which includes water, coffee and internet. I've always had coffee in any room I've ever stayed in. As for the internet, couldn't find a wireless codesp called front desk. Told they only have a wired connection but had free wireless in lobby. Tried my ipad in lobby, no wireless still. Told no there is no wireless in lobby, Starbucks has it in their lounge. So wondering what my $20.00 resort fee actually got me except a sour taste in my mouth. All in a all I still recommend if you are traveling on a budget.

We had 7 nights at the monte carlo, we chose a standard room and were put on the 17th floor with a strip view. The room was fantastic, the decor may be slightly outdated but it was a huge room, nice and clean, and had everything we could have asked for. The staff were extremely friendly and even reserved a higher floor room for us just because I enquired about one upon arrival, we didn't feel the need to change rooms but having the option to do so was nice. Downstairs they have a very nice casino, a variety of places to buy some food and drink a few places to do a bit of shopping, we really couldn't have asked for more.

Stayed at the Monte Carlo in April for my wedding. My first time in Vegas so I decided not to. Real the bank. I think we made a good choice. Great restaurants, shopping, bars, etc. The casino is fun and not as stressful as other hotels. Just keep the drinks coming! I would stay there again. Also, be sure to pay for pool cabanas or umbrellas by the pool. So relaxing and so worth it!

We did 3 nights at the Monte Carlo as cheerleaders for 3 sons & 2 daughters-in-law who ran the LasVegas Rock n Roll Marathon the second day of our stay. I suppose the casino is comparable to others of the vintage of MC; however, this brief commentary is about our guest room on the 11th floor . . . a great view! Prefacing the bad is the good: the public contact and telephone answering folk were superb (perhaps excepting the housekeeping folk who understood very little of the English language).
Our guest room seemed maavelous when entering on marble flooring in the "entry" and bathroom. BUT . . . the toilet seat was hazardously loose, the shower/tub wall was greatly, but inappropriately highlighted with mildew and the tub drain virtually didn't -- don't cha just love standing in several inches of scrufty water by the end of your shower. The bath room door hinges screeching reminiscent of a haunted house -- so much for stealth mode for middle of the night trips. The mattresses surely were worn out (I realize degree of firmness is a preference) and a used Q-tip was lying on carpet next to bed. I don't recall seeing or hearing a vacuum cleaner in the hotel during the 3 days of our stay. Initially, we were really impressed getting a phone call in the evening from "security" telling us our guest room door was not secure, but then it happened the second evening even though the door was closed and dead bolt engaged both occasions. hmmm. During the first wake-up in our room, a very congenial, efficient hotel "engineer" was at the door to fix the drain, toilet seat and door hinges! voila!! (If only housekeeping didn't leave quality control for the guests.)
Well . . . we had a great time with our "kids". Our expectations of living large at the Monte Carlo were not met!
All-in-all the hotel served its purpose and we realize casino hotel rooms are merely a way-point to the casino for most(?) patrons. Our son had no problem with their room. Other son & wife stayed at Harrahs (near finish line for marathon) for less $ and had no discrepancies

You get the most bangs for your bucks at this place compare to the other casinos: Center of the strip, not too expensive and yet the rooms are clean and the casino itself is very organized and clean. Good happy hour deals at certain restaurants. This is the place I always stay when I visit Vegas.
