Had my first bed bug experience at this hotel.
Dec 2, 2012 : I checked in. Was given a room in the "Venetian Tower", floor 10, Room 338. . The room is set up with 2 large beds and a living area, with a desk and a couch.
Dec 4, 2012 around 11pm PST : while doing emails on my laptop in the living area. I had on the hotel bathrobe, which had been laying on my bed prior to me wearing this. While typing, out of the corner of my eye, something was crawling on my bathrobe.
I caught the bug under a glass. The hotel manager sent pest control up who confirmed it was indeed a bed bug.
Additionally, security came up to my room to take a statement. And housekeeping came to collect my belongings.
It disturbed me to realize the hotel had a "bed bug process" to deal with the situation, clearly indicating it's not the first time they had this issue.
I was transferred to another room, where I spent a sleepless night completely worried about this new room having the bugs. And also worrying about accidentally bringing them home with me.
The next day, I checked out (1 day early) b/c so skeeved out. After haggling with the hotel manager a few hours (on/off), we agreed on a cash payment to me ($1,500). I did not have to sign any waiver forms, per my refusal to do so.
Will mention that the hotel staff dealing with me for this bed bug issue was professional, nice. But still, does not make up for the fact there were bed bugs.
I will never return to this property again.
If need a Vegas hotel to sleep at, avoid The Venetian. They have bed bugs.
