“Nice Stay but long wait to check in”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

This was our first time at Trasure Island and we were dismayed to have to stand in line for an hour to just check in. (I have travelled a great deal and never encountered this before.) The staff who check you in are very nice but not enough of them to handle the crowds. We thought maybe it was the day, but in the five days we were there it was always the same if you checked in beween 11-2. Our room was great on the 32nd floor and we had an amazing view of the strip. The Siren show was not worth the wait and felt that for parents with small children that it was inappropriate. My partner felt that the old pirate show was so far better. Overall the restaurants were average and in some cases a little too expensive for the food that was pretty average.

We stayed here over Valentines weekend 2013- and we had a blast. The hotel is beautiful. I think everynight at two different times they have a pirate boat show which was fun to watch, but you do get wet! We also went to a Cirque De Souil show in the hotel theater which was absolutely AMAZING! You have to see it. There were nice places to eat inside, like Senor Frogs, Kaluahville, a buffet, a seafood house, a diner, a cafe, and a pizzaria, along with many bars, starbucks and Krispy Kremes. Our room was very clean and spacious, and house keeping cleaned it well every day. The casino is small compared to other hotels, but it is still very nice. Right around the corner from shopping malls, and right in the center of the strip, making it easy to move around to the other hotels. Front desk check in and out was fast and smooth and they give you little drink coupons when you check it which is cool. We went down to the pool our last day and it was gorgeous, and you can eat at the out door restaurant and get drinks. We will definitly be back to this hotel, we got a great hotel and airfare deal at expedia.com and we spent about 1000 for hotel and airfare for 4 or 5 days here.

We have stayed at Treasure Island a number of times over the past few years, some of our stays have been frustrating, this time it we had a really good visit. We were invited guests, so did not have to wait in the long check in lines. Our room was on the 34th floor with a strip view, right above the pirate ships. If you have a room here and want to go to bed before 11:30, the show will keep you up. Otherwise the hotel is very quiet, clean and the bed linens are awesome. We never had any issues with service in the hotel or casino. The pool was very crowded with lots of chairs holding towels, but not many with people on them.

You can waive the resort fee here, which we did. One day we decide we needed internet so we decided to pay the $20 for 24 hours of wireless access. But it seems the $20 for 24 is per device, not per room. Be careful if you waive the resort fee and only use internet. They did not tell us this before hand so took the additional charge off our room when we complained, but still a dirty trick.

Id rate this hotel much higher if it weren't for having to wait for over an hour in a queue at check in. Not a good first impression, especially when six of the ten check-in kiosks were unattended and yet when eventually served I was told that this level of delay is normal for the latter parts of the week. That says to me that management know very well when its busy but they cant be bothered rostering on more staff. Cheaper for them to make you wait! Not good enough TI.

Rooms are small and dark which is a shame given some nice views from this hotel. That said they were also comfortable and clean and generally pleasurable to stay in..... once you get there!

We stayed for six nights at Treasure Island (TI) in March 2013, hubby, wife, two sons ages 13 and 10. We went for a Spring Break Trip, second visit there ,first time without the kids, really didn't gamble only a few slot machines here and there.

TI is perfectly located in the middle of the strip. There is a free tram to The Mirage next door and it does save some walking. Our flight arrived about 3:00 pm and there was no wait at the check in line at all. Simple, easy, and off to our rooms. We asked for a strip view and got it. Our room at TI was on the 19th floor and a great view of the strip and to the right could also see the mountains. Our room was good, two double beds, big bathroom, clean, no issues with the room other than no coffeemaker which is often noted on TripAdvisor reviews. The cleaning ladies were at our room about 10:00 each morning which was perfect for us as that was about the time we were up, dressed and ready to go out for the day. The beds, pillows, and bedding are all very comfortable, we heard very little noise and our room was very dark at night, we all slept great!

Restaurants at TI:
We ate at the buffet once and it was good for the price. I think we paid $19.99 for 12 and older and $12.95 for our younger one. Good selection of food, most of it they make for you on the spot. BBQ ribs, chicken, Salads, Pasta Station, Chinese/Sushi Station, lots of fruit, soups, etc. Our son has Celiac and cannot have Gluten so a chef came out and walked him thru the buffent, that was great! You can add unlimited champaign for $4 which I did of course!

We ate at the cafe there a few times and found it to be only average. Breakfast for the four of us was $75 and the food prepared with too much oil but filled us up for a busy day.

Went to the on-site Starbucks every morning, good storng coffee and refreshing juice and fruits. Generally a line and busy but if you have to have coffee. . . .

The Pool at TI was great for us! The weather was 70 - 80 degrees but the pool is very nicely heated. The times we went were early in the morning or early in the afternoon and we had very few other people there. We do go a few times early evening and found the crowd more lively, it didn't really bother us and was fun to watch everyone. Hot tub is large and hot, great to nurse our aching feet and legs!

Transportation:
We took a cab from the airport, it was a 15 minute drive or less and the total fare with tip was $25. We also rented a car for one full day to get off the Strip. TI has a Dollar Rental on-site, again, very quick, easy, total for mid-size vehicle with the insurance was $85. We also paid for mono-rail passes and this was well worth it! It goes up and down the strip and very clearly states what stop it is, what is there, and you can get on and off very easily. There are ticket stations every few blocks that you can use cash $8 for 24 hour pass or credit card. We also took a cab back to the airport, again $25 with tip.

The Daily Resort Fee of $28 ($25 plus $3 tax) was annoying, but mostly places in Vegas have this type of fee. Wi-Fi was slow and we had sketchy cell service but from Iowa so not sure our carrier is readily active in the West.

Will review our other Vegas Destinations with tips on a seperate review. Wanted to keep this mostly to TI.

Overall, we had a very good stay at TI. Of course it is not the Bellagio or Wynn which look amazing, but TI has clean rooms, nice pool, helpful staff. We just enjoyed hanging out as a family without the routines of home, t.v., video games, etc., so our stay was what we made it and we made it a great time with great memories!

Hope this review is helpful for your stay in Vegas!

We should start by saying our last 2 visits to Treasure Island were excellent, so we were a bit thrown by our recent stay. Due to a split visit over a week, we had the unpleasant experience of having to wait in the check in line up for over an hour both times. First check-in we were told (no apology) that we had hit a big Groupon weekend, hence that wait. No explanation and no apology for the 2nd.

Normally TI is spotless, but the corridor to our room was dotted with bags of garbage and the carpets were filthy. It reminded us of the remnants of a frat party. Our room was acceptably clean but the bathroom was not to the standard we've come to expect at TI. EXTREMELY comfortable bed.

Funny story: pillows missing so ordered some from housekeeping.Minutes later a woman barges into our room with my near-naked husband half asleep in bed, as she changes the pillows with him in it! Awkward!

The slots downstairs were packed and I had the unfortunate experience of 3 machines breaking down in one night. Drink glasses littered everywhere as well as overflowing ashtrays. The air quality is one of the poorest on the Strip. We now gamble elsewhere.

All in all, we've come to realize TI's location (wicked Strip view!) and price can't be beat. The buffet is the best we've had. So, perhaps we'll be giving it another go next year and hope this year was an anomaly.

Room Tip: Ask for high Strip view! King bed. If possible, try not to be overlooking pool if thumping base both...

I must say after reading the reviews about Treasure Island I was a little afraid about booking a room. I was totally happy when I arrived in Las Vegas and saw the location of the TI, it is on the strip in a prime location with lots of activites for all.
When I walked into the hotel I was amazed at how many people were trying to check in (250+)the hotel staff was very professional and the young lady that checked us in was the best... I informed her that this was my husbands first visit and she gave us a room on the 28th floor were the view was just amazing.
The room was very clean and the pillows were the greatest. Me and the hubby will be back again next year. If you are looking for a great hotel on the stip that's affordable... this is the place.
