“Off the strip but Really Nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2006

We stayed at The Orleans late June 2006. We found this incredible special thru Travelzoo for 404.00 total for both which included: 3 nites plus RT airfare from Seattle. We usually stay on the strip and The Orleans always seems to be on the "specials" lists for cheap lodging so I was a little apprehensive. When we arrived I was delighted to find this huge, grand hotel casino. We loved it from the minute we arrived. It is a five minute or less drive to the strip, but is anything really within walking distance on the strip anyway :). The restaurants are great. We went to TGI Fridays one nite and the bartender put on a show, flipping and juggling bottles like the contests you see on TV, it was a blast. They also have the inexpensive food specials like we use to hear about in old Las Vegas (1.99 steak $ eggs-good too). The rooms were really big and CLEAN and really tastefully decorated, nicer that several we have had on the Strip. The pool was great too.The only negative I can think of was that the parking seemed so far from the rooms, but there could have been a shorter way and we just didn't find it. From check in to check out we were impressed and we will definately be back. The value for this place was incredible and all of their employees were super nice and helpful too

Comfy hotel with nice variety of restaurants and things to do (bowling, movies) -- but their free shuttle to the strip puts the place over the top. I would recommend The Orleans to anybody who has already had "the Strip experience" and now wants to spend less money on their Las Vegas vacation. We will definitely stay there again.

  • Liked — Enough variety at the property that we didn' t have to leave if we didn't want to
  • Disliked — Kids from the basketball tournament racing up and down the hall
  • Tips/Secrets — Their Italian restaurant, Sazio, is quiet and has delicious food!

Stayed at the Orleans for my second time the last week of July, 2006. The stay was exceptional, as was last time. This hotel is one of the best in Las Vegas, especially if you're a family and you're looking for something off the strip. The only negative thing about the hotel, was its buffet, nothing special, but I guess I can say that about most of the hotel buffets.

Shows to see:
Carrot top- worth the money
KA- If you like performance art - get the cheapest seats, they'll be fine. This was my first Cirque show, so I can't compare it to the others.
Comedy club at Tropicana

Shows to avoid:
George Wallace- if you must go, get the cheapest tickets and try to get a booth, otherwise, you'll be uncomfortable.
Imax at Luxor(Pilot movie)- not worth the money
For the guys (Seamless club) across from the Orleans- it's a ripoff, don't let the cab drivers talk you into this one.

I have stayed at the Orleans three times in the last year. I will go again, because you can't beat the quality for the price. The rooms are large and comfortable and the maid service is first rate. The food in the Courtyard Cafe and the Prime Rib Loft is a good deal for the money. Seatlle's Best coffee is truly average which makes it overpriced. The drinks are plentiful when you gamble, but make sure you tip the drink servers. I think everyone should tip the shuttle bus driver also.

My biggest disappointment at The Orleans was the new TGIF restaurant. It may have been the worst meal I have ever had, along with truly horrible service.

The place to eat while at The Orleans is McMillan's Irish pub next door to the casino. The food is excellent with a warm and friendly atmosphere. My wife and I ate most of our meals there and were never disappointed.

The Orleans is one of the best buys in Las Vegas.

  • Liked — The comfortable beds and the spacious room size with good maid service
  • Disliked — The Internet connection is too expensive and the TV channel selection is too limited.
  • Tips/Secrets — Eat at McMillans next door.

Just returned from a trip touring Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Sequoia NP and LA and stayed at the Orleans at the beginning and end of our trip.

We really loved this hotel, with its very clean, large rooms and little quirky window in the shower.

Another reviewer says that the air conditioning broke down on the 29th July - we were there then but didn't notice anything wrong - perhaps the unit in their room was not working.

The restaurants, particularly the Courtyard Cafe, was excellent and the portions in Terrible Mikes were so huge, we had to have one between the two of us!!

The shuttle buses to the strip came along at very regular intervals so there was no problem about getting into the heart of Vegas.

The pool is huge and very clean with lifeguards in attendance.

The only negative comment is that we would have liked a fridge in the room, as the heat was horrendous!

We didn't gamble, so can't comment on that side of things, but would definitely recommend the Orleans.

I stayed at the Orleans for a weekend in July. We had two adults, 2 teenage boys and 2 10 year old girls in our party, so we booked two rooms. Our experience was great.

The girls swam everyday in the huge pool, while we adults sat poolside and enjoyed beverages from the poolside bar. The girls had hot dogs which were reasonably priced at the poolside snack bar.

Meanwhile, the teenage boys spent time in the huge arcade and also saw a movie in the in-house movie theatre. All of the kids bowled a few games in the in-house bowling alley, which is as big as any bowling alley we've ever been, and extremely well maintained. They bowled on a Saturday night and we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a lane.

We ate most of our meals in the Courtyard Cafe just due to convenience, but the food was excellent. We did eat dinner in the French Market Buffet one night, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. They did have a mongolian barbecue where they cooked your food fresh, and that was good, but the rest of the food was typical buffet food that was adequate, but not great. We didn't try TGI Fridays or any of the other restaurants, but they certainly have a lot to choose from.

And I don't want to forget to mention the rooms, which were huge and immaculate. The kids especially loved the beds which definitely had above average mattresses.

All this for $99 a night. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Las Vegas.

We have stayed at the Orleans twice now and really enjoy how the rooms are quiet, clean, and spacious. Plus, it is cheap...$35.00 for a king room with sitting area. On the down side it's not on the strip but we usually have a car, so that's not an issue. The clientele, well, let's be kind, it's not the Bellagio you are staying at, so, expect regular people.
