After reading all the reviews about how the staff is a major asset on this property, perhaps I was expecting a "howdy, good day from everyone". It couldn't be further from the truth. I found also all employees to be indifferent and down right just blah. The friendliest persons were the security gaurds at the elevators.
Even the bartenders loked miserable at the alligator and mardigras bars. And talk about water down booze!!! I had 4 margarittas and an Amstel in a little over an hour and zip, nothing. I know they short pour the liquor and/or water down the bottles for sure. This is not my 1st rodeo! Room was good and bed was super comfy. $4.99 for internet was reasonable for 24 hours.
They no longer acccept players card at the buffet for a dollar off any more :-( as I found out. Room service was efficient and meet some good peolpe from other States while staying there.
I guess overall, looking back, not a bad place, but staff could be trained to be a little more cordial?

We just spent 4 nights at The Orleans. While we certainly didn't hit it big at the casino, we would stay there again. We had a king deluxe room, and it was wonderful! The sitting area gave us a great view of the mountains. The bed was comfy, the tv large and new, and the spacious room was great. Thermostat on the wall was great, and allowed you to have the fan run all night, great for my husband who needs the white noise to sleep well. The bathroom was nice, with a full size ironing board, and a window in the shower. Staff was all friendly, with great security going to the rooms. We never made it to the theater, or bowling alley, but enjoyed the shuttle to the strip, even though it seemed a couple of times like a free bus ride for some folks that did not seem like they were staying at either the gold coast or the orleans, The cocktail waitresses were very nice, and kept the drinks rolling while you gambled. The buffet was great, as was the coasta cantina express! Huge portions there, great value for the money. your fast food options are great, but a little pricey compared to the normal prices. Rented from the advantage car rental, got a great little nissan versa, very helpful counter service. We had a great time, and looked forward to coming back to our cozy room at the end of each day. Give the orleans a try, great value, and SOOOOO nice to not be in the middle of the crazy strip. relaxing comfortable accommodations well worth the money!

Great place to stay, eat and play. We reviewed this casino hotel 3 1/2 years ago and have been back 3 times. We love this place, we have stayed 5 other casinos (only once each) over the years but stayed here over 10 times.
Rooms are big, comfortabe and very quiet. We had king size bed with strip view ( nice view of the strip because it is 1 mile off strip).
we went bowling, watched a movie and a hockey game all at the orleans.
Food is good too. they have 10 restaraunts from fancy to middle of the road to the food court.
Fuddruckers, Sbarros, baskin robbins, subway, courtyard cafe, big al's oryster bar, tgi fridays, a cafe, a mexican place, coffee shop and 2 steakhouses.
great value, a little slower pace than the strip.
Locals love this place, a great atmosphere in the sportsbook. Betting on horse races and ballgames. This is a happening place for the middle of the road traveler

Just returned from Las Vegas December 22, 2012 , although I stayed at the RIO I spent my dining budget between the Orleans and the GOLD COAST. Went to the Orleans 3 times to est had B/L/D all very GOOD . If you are from the SOUTH AS I am you will appreciate the ORLEANS . The buffet was as good as any I have spent 2-3 more money on , had the BEST selection of HOT vegatables such as beans greens . The food was fresh , flavorful , and HOT.
