“GOOD VALUE BUT NOISY DOWNSTAIRS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

We stayed at The Orleans for $51/night, which was great value for a large and beautiful room just off the strip -- which was where we wanted to be. It's a great value, but like most hotels in Vegas with a casino, it's an assault of noise when you enter, because the casino is right there. Even the restaurants are part of the casino noise, so we ordered room service for $2 each, and the quiet was well worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near elevator if you have difficulty walking, as I did.

The rooms are large and very nice for the price. Nothing fancy, but they are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are dated and could be tight for two people who need to preen.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The buffets are extremely affordable, $7.99 for breakfast is a steal. Their oyster house was above average, and the late night cafe's $5.99 steak and eggs was very good.

Ask for VIP seating at the comedy show, you get plush seats in the front row. Well worth the $12 to see up and coming comics.

Make sure to get the "B-Connected Card". Its free, and you get $$ off everything you buy at the hotel.

It was really nice to have a big movie theatre and bowling alley at the hotel. The gym was very nice; new ellipticals and treadmills and dumbells that went to 90lbs.

The complimentary shuttle ran to Bills (across from Bellagio and Bally's) every 10-15 mins and was very nice.

Negatives: Extremely smokey on the casino floor. Pillows in the rooms were not great.

Overall, I'd stay again, but the volume of smoke on the floor really needs to be looked at by the folks at the Orleans.

I had to stay at the orleans for a friends wedding and found this hotel overwhelming in size. There were many choices for food. The maid service was less than desired. Our room was "cleaned" on a daily basis which was basically was the maids making the bed and that was it. There was garbage left on a daily basis whenever we came back to our room. We also found that housekeeping didn't respect the do not disturb rule and disturbed us. One day (we had the sign on our door)and house keeping knocked and we said no and they came in anyway. This isn't a bad hotel it just isn't somewhere id want tp stay again.

Stayed here for over a week in the summer. I chose the Orleans because of the incredible rates when compared with other LV hotels. Even for an off-strip hotel, the rates were quite good. There is a complimentary shuttle bus that runs frequently (I never had to wait more than 15 minutes) and takes you to BIll's Gambling Hall which is right in the middle of the strip. This was very convenient as it went both ways.

The rooms were fine if a bit worn out. The carpet was stained. No flat screen TV - just a standard color TV with cable. I also had a tough time keeping the room at the temperature I wanted. The fan and the heating system only seemed to work for a short time so at night it would get chilly until the heat kicked up. Washrooms were adequate. I have to say the room was quite spacious which was nice.

Service was hit or miss. On the one hand, housekeeping was fantastic. My room would be made up within two hours of my leaving. I'd leave in the morning or early afternoon, get breakfast/coffee for a couple of hours and when I came back it was almost always serviced. If I called the office for help, I'd always get my questions answered in a polite and accurate way. A staff member who came up to check the heating issue mentioned earlier was very nice as well and did what he could. On the other hand, I also encountered an impolite, snappy blonde girl at the front desk who wasn't particularly helpful or professional when I inquired about extending my stay. Came back 10 minutes later especially to avoid her and got everything taken care of by another staff member. A couple of the bartenders and one guy at the Sportsbook here were crotchety and unpleasant. Though mainly the staff was okay. There is a food court with Subway, Sbarro, etc. which was good when you needed it and a very good sushi restaurant as well.

For me, the best feature of this hotel was the free wi-fi at the Java Vegas cafe. It did cost $6.00 per night (part of your resort fee) but I enjoyed taking my laptop downstairs and surfing whenever I needed to check e-mail, browse etc.

All things considered, I probably would stay at the Orleans again because of their great room rates, the free wi-fi at Java Vegas and the convenience of the shuttle bus service to the strip. A couple of isolated bad customer service incidents are probably unavoidable in Vegas these days (unfortunate but true) although these incidents and the somewhat worn out rooms keep the Orleans in the category of just a decent hotel with great value.

Room and service were great, convenient parking made it easy to go elsewhere for entertainment. Not a one-stop resort, but great place to use as base. Casino ventilation needs upgrade, but room & hallways were fine.

Nice option for families; avoiding the nonsense of the strip, Has bowling and Movie theater (VERY Nice) Latest slots, lots of table games, VERY big on the Asian table games.

If youve read any of my reviews you know I HATE "Resort Fees" which are added surcharges. Though its only 6.00 a day you do not really get anything for it- discount coupons of minimal value. Internet is still extra

Rooms are fairly decent, usually at a very good price. If you have a car or want to cab it, the strip is close by. In fact im writing this from Caesars looking out the window at Orleans in distance.

Many food outlets for all price points and 24 hour fast food: Subway, Sbarro, baskin robbins, Fudpuckers- offers exotic burgers and TGIF. With the movie theaters and pool kids will have a grand time while you gamble away their inheritance....... ;-)

A decent property worth the visit

Room Tip: Away from elevators that are busy
