“Cool hotel but smoky and far from the center of the strip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

NYNY is a cool hotel - nice rooms, neat lobby, plenty of restaurants and things to do. It was very smoky, though, even in the hallway outside our non-smoking room. It is also quite a walk to the other end of the strip. We liked the Venetian better for it's location and smoke free environment.

Vagas has been a dream for years so this short break should have been special. NYNY is run down and in need of a make over. The room rates are low but I think the service and facilities should be higher.

Wow!!! I cannot recommend this hotel enough! We had a fabulous stay in NYNY in March 12. It's location is perfect, the room was huge and very comfortable!! There is something for everyone in the Hotel and the service was second to none! We also headed to
LA and San Fran but Vegas and NYNY topped the lot!! Get yourself there!!!

Room Tip: Tip the clerk at the front desk!!

NYNY used to be a mainstay for us. Things have been steadily going downhill our last few trips and hoping for it to get better was obviously a mistake.

First of all. This hotel is EXTREMELY noisy! The clientele is loud, obnoxious, and crass. Afterall they are likely paying $40.00 a night. So while we get a comped suite, our neighbors are the polar opposite. Good luck trying to sleep. Second, the beds are perhaps the worst beds we have ever slept on. One would think their "suites" would be better outfitted. Nope. Oh I almost forgot. The roller-coaster. If hearing screaming every 3 mins from your room until 12am is your forte you will love the NY NY.

Lastly the casino is tight, tight, tight. Slots payout nothing. Table limits are high for a hotel that charges $40.00 a night for their rooms.

I would have given an extra star for the theme, but sadly they stripped the theme about 2 years ago and replaced it with a club scene. I guess 22 year old college kids spend more than someone who makes 120k a year.

Look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

We booked with NYNY not knowing the pool was torn out. We wanted to go to Vegas for the fun of it but also wanted a day or two of sitting around the pool relaxing. We were told at check in that there was no pool, but to compensate for that they gave us a voucher for 2 free drinks. BUT there was still the 18.00 a day resort fee. Sorry but in my opinion a "resort" means ammenities other than really spotty WiFi...the 18.00 resort fee includes WiFi and their fitness center. We knew about the resort fee going in, but didnt know about the pool renos. They should have waived the fees during this time or offered some sort of other compensation other than "two free drinks". We were advised that we could use the pool at the Excalibur or MGM in place of their pool. Tried the pool at the Excalibur but when we got there, one of their pools was down as well , and they only had their small one up and running and it was packed with kids...no thanks. Did not feel like walking all over the strip to get into a pool to "relax"...just doesnt make sense. Other than that, the room was very clean...perfect location (they put us in a room that was situated so we didnt have any rooms on either side of us). Was worried after reading some of the reviews on here that the room would be old and worn but ours was quite lovely. Its an older hotel so you have to expect some wear and tear. The cleaning staff was awesome. Very friendly and always smiling. And our attendant took great care of us. Restaurants are very expensive but so is most of Vegas. You have to expect that when you go to eat. We did love the feel of this hotel but the pool not being there and the resort fee still being charge in full after this put a bad taste in our mouth about staying there again. We go to Vegas once or twice a year and always try a new hotel, yet still trying to find "our" hotel in the process. If this didnt happen, NYNY could have been "our" hotel but upon leaving this time, we were already discussing where else we were going to stay next time.

We stayed at NY NY as part of a package. It was a good deal and a good landing place for our short vacation in Las Vegas. The room was basic but clean. We would stay there again.

I reserved a Madison Ave. double queen room for 3 nights. It is a very large room, 450sq. ft. The beds were OK, a bit hard for me. The room was very clean but "tired". They need to spend some money updating the rooms, very dark room. We had a view of the rooftop
and roller coaster. The roller coaster is loud and runs late at night. No coffee pot, no refrigerator and it is a long walk to get food and drinks. They do provide an iron and ironing board and hair dryer. They also included a $35 food credit with the room.
The food and drinks in the hotel are good but pricey. We arrived around 8:30p.m. with no problems at check-in. There is no one to help you with luggage. There is a daily resort fee added to the price. It includes Wi-Fi, however, I could not get good reception in the room, had to go out into the hall. I saw other people having this problem of poor reception.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the roller coaster.
