Being my first time in Vegas, I really didn't know what to expect from the rooms, so I was super surprised for it to be so flash and spacious. I felt like I was in a 5-star hotel (in my books anyway).
We drove from Anaheim and returned the hire car to Avis at MGM. It was a bit difficult locating the parking entrance (at night and raining!) and even more so searching for the return car parking spots. Eventually after finding the return parking spot, the check-in process took super longer than expected. This was because my credit card kept being rejected even though it worked in the previous hotels I stayed in during my 6 week trip to the States. The staff member who assisted me with check-in looked like he was getting fed up and hey, so was I (after driving for 8 hours)! Not my fault it's getting rejected. Other staff members however were a bit more friendlier.
I was shocked too by the resort fee, so it essentially meant I was paying for WI-FI but I think that's with other hotels too? Other than that, our Petite King room was excellent. Our booking actually stated 1 king bed, but we ended up getting 2 queen beds which we didn't mind.
There was also the usual TV, but no coffee maker or tea which was another shock (aren't these standard?).
Bathroom wise it was fantastic as it was spacious with a huge mirror. The shampoo/conditioner, body gel and lotion were beautifully fragrant with green tea and jasmine - the best I've come across from hotels I've stayed in.
I was told there were real lions located at this hotel, but we didn't see any during our stay here. After some research, it appears the construction going on during our stay was for a new sports pub where the lion habitat once was.
MGM is close to McCarran International airport so the taxi ride in the morning for our departure wasn't too expensive (about USD$15) for the two us compared to the shuttle buses at $8/person and the taxi ride is direct service to airport.
We walked everywhere during our stay in Vegas, so location to other attractions was no issue for us. The furthest we walked was Wynn/Encore at one end and the Las Vegas Welcome sign at the other end.
Overall, a great stay and experience and would recommend to friends.
