“MGM North Tower, big, right on the strip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

We stayed on the North Tower, on the17th floor. The room and bath were spacious, bed was very comfortable, linens were nice. We had a great view of the mountains. It was not noisy, but I did hear the people in the room next to us a couple of times and people outside in the hallway coming back to their rooms in the early morning hours. The hotel has a lazy river, but the pool is nothing spectacular, small, just pretty normal. Lots of drinking in the pool and couples embracing. The pool was not very clean but they had plenty of towels and chairs. Not impressed with this part of the hotel. The hotel is very large, it takes a lot of walking inside your hotel to get anywhere! The Grand arena is on the back of the hotel, after the restaurants. But it offers a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, deli, starbucks, pizza. Right next to the MGM is a store where you can buy water, soft drinks, wine, beer, etc. Also, the ABC store is very close by. We ate at the Emeril restaurant and the deli. Not impressed with Emeril. The deli next to the Starbucks was fast and very good. I like the location of the Hotel, close to Excalibur, almost right at the end of the strip, go northbound on the DEUCE 24 hour bus, and you will be able to see it all.

Room Tip: Choose North Tower, or top floors

Statedyed here on our honeymoon. Booked via a third party & upgraded to a suit, requesting a room with a strip view. On arrival we checked in (which took 30mins) and arrived in our room - we had a view of a roof, ventilation & could just about see the top of Mandalay Bay hotel. Called guest relations who didn't really seem to care & said they didn't guarantee views, these had to be paid for & had no record of our request. Unhelpful.
The room was fine in itself, spacious and very comfortable. However doesn't have very good soundproofing.
The hotel stinks of smoke, as a non smoker this is noticeable burn isn't the end of the world.
Waitress service in the casino isn't great.
On our final day we were woken early morning by drilling on the floor below, this lasted for an hour. Once it had stopped a very loud phone onversation between workmen & the front desk commenced outside our room, it seemed something had gone wrong (hence why the drilling stopped) & the workmen needed to gain access to the room next door. We complained to the front desk about this & received no apology, simply a "thank you for making us aware."
Advice, stag elsewhere, there's some amazing, breathtaking hotels on the strip.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere

Stayed here for our Co-ed bachelor/bachelorette part with our entire wedding party. Though pricey, the hotel was a great choice for this event. Our party arrived at 4 separate times over 2 days with 7 different rooms and were given rooms very near to each other. I thoroughly enjoyed the black out shade in our room after some very late nights and we had a great view of New York, New York when the shade was open. We had a lot of luck at the Black Jack tables and frequented the breakfast buffet several times. The other bars and restaurants at the hotel were good too. The rooms were GREAT! Extremely clean and comfortable, with very sleek and sexy decor. I was surprised at the level of service we received considering how busy the hotel was in late August.

The room was great. We stayed in an Executive King Suite on the 10th floor (non smoking), room 205. We were facing the airport but the view wasn't a big deal to us. The room was very clean and had lots of space. It was about half way from the elevators so we didn't have far to walk. Dual sinks & showers, free safe, and comfy sofa to relax on.

We are excited to know you enjoyed your stay at MGM Grand. It is great to see that you found your accommodations and amenities favorable. With the modernization of our hotel room décors, and the addition of numerous outlets, it is no wonder MGM Grand is considered the Entertainment Authority on the Las Vegas Strip. MGM made our first trip to Vegas memorable. It was a large, clean, entertaining hotel. It is so big, I really don't think we saw it all. The view from our room on the 23rd floor was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a wonderful view to wake up to. The REALLY bad part about the hotel was when we had to leave and return to home.

Room Tip: 23rd floor

I am not a gambler...so if you are, take this review with that knowledge. The room was very, very comfortable, nice decor, very nice bedding, great bathroom. It was a non smoking room, and the room do not smell like it had been smoked in. ( I have previously booked non smoking rooms that smell like smoke) To get ANYWHERE, you must pass through the casino. I did not like this, but I was at this hotel for 1 day. Everyone at the property was very pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced room. I would recommend for a limited stay unless you're interested in gambling.

Room Tip: If you're not interested in casino and all the strip...try The MGM signature....it was wonderful...

I recently stayed 5 nights at the MGM Grand, a 20 year old hotel that looks almost brand new. The location is an easy 5-10 minutes drive from McCarran International Airport. Checking looked like it was going to take a while as there had to be 50 or so guests in front of me waiting to check in. It only took about ten minutes as they had 8-10 agents handling the guests patiently waiting. The bell desk and valet were also very efficient.

We had two connection ting rooms overlooking the airport which was a bonus as we enjoyed watching the Helicopters and Airplanes departing and arriving all day long with a spectacular mountain backdrop. The rooms were very spacious and well maintained. They had huge windows, comfortable beds, plentiful towels and an good supply of amenities and plenty of hot water and good A/C.

" The Strip" is only a few seconds drive away once you leave the valet parking area. The Strip itself depending on traffic can take upwards of 30 minutes to get from end to end. It is a very nice drive in the evening but traffic can be a little crazy.

The desert is also only a few minutes drive if you want to experience the awesome scenery beyond the city limits.

The restaurants were all good, a few I will review separately.

Overall the MGM Grand is a good choice and the service all around was great.

Room Tip: Early afternoon check in I think would get you the best choice of rooms.
