“Too Much Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

Excellent hotel offering a wide range of amenities. Great selection of restaurants and eateries. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Be sure to take advantage of the Mlife membership. It applies to a number of other Hotels and eating establishments. You'll be surprised how much it pays off when you check out. Overall the MGM and Mlife are good value.

Room Tip: Be sure to check the temperature before you go to sleep. It is also helpful to put down the black bl...

What a fantastic place to Wine, Dine and enjoy. Service was great and the options within MGM were "Grand". Room was large, Bed was smooth and comfortable and cleaned to perfection. Couldn't have asked for anything better for a 6 day stay...

Dear Wallyfs:

Thanks for the superb review! At MGM Grand, we know that despite hosting the hottest sporting and entertainment events, housing a wide array of gaming and betting venues, and boasting some of the finest restaurants and culinary offerings on the Las Vegas Strip, it’s our uncompromising commitment to quality service that keeps our guests coming back. It is also what separates us from our competitors.

So, thank you for spending a week with us. We look forward to seeing you again!

Sincerely,

MGM was a great value for the money. Our room was small, however up to date and nice. Air condition was not able to keep the room as cool as we would have liked, and a couple times the shower lost hot water. The hotel had an amazing pool and day club called Wet Republic. We also enjoyed the nightlife at Hakkasan.

Dear Christopher T:

We would welcome you back anytime, Christopher! Although I regret that your accommodations fell just short of ideal, I’m glad to see you enjoyed both our outdoor and indoor club venues. Wet Republic continues to serve as a great way to not only beat the heat, but create a little of your own, while Hakkasan has debuted to rave revues from industry veterans and thrill seekers everywhere. Both are a great place to see and be seen on the Las Vegas Strip.

We appreciate the kind words, and hope a return visit is not far off!

Sincerely,

Lori Pastor

The six of us (three couples) stayed for four nights last week. It was a good stay overall. I asked for a “complimentary” upgrade when checking in but after talking to my friends, I realized it wasn’t really an upgrade. The lady at the front desk said that we were “upgraded” to staying in the Grand Hotel wing which had been recently renovated. It turned out to be a normal room with no view.

Granted, we appreciated the newly renovated modern features such as a media hub built into the TV stand that connects your electronic devices easily (no more crawling under the desk to plug in your phone). The safe was hidden inside the nightstand drawer and super slick looking. My favourite feature was the automated blackout shades system.

The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The bathroom layout was nice and spacious and the shower never ran out of hot water and had good water pressure. Everything one could ask for in a room.

There is a $28 daily resort fee which I wasn’t too fond of but included in the fee is high speed wifi access on as many devices as you want. The wifi connection was great. I used it all the time with no issues and the download speed was decent (I downloaded a few apps on my iPhone and the speed was comparable to my wifi at home)

The MGM Grand Hotel is the largest hotel on the Strip so be prepared for some walking even just getting around the hotel. It is seriously massive! There are two Starbucks inside the hotel, numerous restaurant choices (my favourite is Shibuya) and quick service dining also.

A couple of things to point out:

• The walls/doors are thin and you can hear talking or sounds from the other side. At times you may even think that someone is turning on the sink in your bathroom when really, it was the room next door.

• The hotel is very busy since it has the popular Hakkasan club with the awesome DJ line-ups and the Grand Garden Arena where large events are held. The Rolling Stones were playing the weekend we were there and traffic getting into the hotel was atrocious. The police had shut down several lanes of traffic right outside the hotel and MGM staff was controlling traffic by only letting a few vehicles through at a time.

• Housekeeping comes pretty late (around 3pm) which I assume is to accommodate the people who are still sleeping after a late night of partying.

• There is no deadbolt lock on the door which I assume is so that management can access a room if they need to without causing damage to the door.

• The AC in the resort is ridiculous. It is freezing cold in the hotel room corridors. The room is also quite cool also but you can easily adjust the thermostat.

Third stay at the MGM in the past 2 years. Most Las Vegas hotel rooms are all identical, but the MGM seems to be working hard to be different. This time, stayed in one of the mini suites in the Grand Tower. I was impressed. There is a living room with an L shaped sofa, lounge chair, bar area, and desk in the living room area. The flat screen tv swivels around so you can view it from the living room, or from the bed. There are electric screens over the large windows to provide privacy (white) or blackout (black). The bed is cushy soft and so are the pillows. And the bathroom is beautiful and functional, in marble and chrome (there's a Jacuzzi tub plenty big enough for two). I choose the MGM for it's swimming pools, but the rooms are a plus. And, the Monorail stops at the MGM, so it's easy to get anywhere.

Room Tip: If it's not too much more, splurge and get a mini suite or suite.

We have visited this hotel a few times before on previous stays in other Vegas hotels, and have always liked the look of the place. Having now spent nine nights here our opinions have just been confirmed. There's so many plus points about this hotel which you can read all about online, but the level of friendliness and service throughout was excellent. Great rooms, lovely comfy bed, fantastic pool area, and lots of dining options in the hotel to suit all budgets.

Would be more than happy to stay at the MGM next time we visit Vegas, and it should be one for your shortlist too.

Room Tip: Grand Tower rooms have a nice central location.

I've stayed at MGM many times and while the remodeled rooms are nice, restaurants are good, casino fine, they don't have, or won't invest in, the infrastructure necessary to handle so many guests. Couple cases in point. Pool at 11:00 a.m. on friday, not a single chair available. People were sitting on sidewalks, or anywhere else they could find open space. The baggage check is nightmare, with lengthy lines checking bags and even worse system picking up bags. On pickup, they had one guy handling all customers. He would go into back room for long time and come out with one customers bag on his luggage cart, instead of, obviously, picking up bags for multiple customers. Waited 45 minutes to get my one bag, nearly missed flight. Worse, he was only one working. When i asked the 3 people at desk, whose jobs apparently are limited to taking customers ticket and handing it to worker, why they had one person handling luggage for a 4,000 room hotel they just gave blank stare. MGM just too big and unable to handle so many. Will not stay there again.

Room Tip: high up is always better, but even their standard rooms are fine.

Green Features: drinking fountains in a desert town would be much more environmentally friendly than requiring all to purchase bottled water
