“Las Vegas Hilton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2010

This Hilton is off the strip which can be nice for some of us who have been to Vegas so many times and cannot count. Nice to have rooms with a beautiful view of the golf course, and they were quiet not full of partying . This Hotel is well established it is easy to navigate inside and the casino is not so big you get lost. They have some excellent high end restaurants. I recommend the Chinese, but the Steakhouse and Benihana's is great also. The service people are friendly and helpful. We had a special deal, but I have stayed their many times before. The musical "Nunsence" was performing it was well done and funny a must see.

I really enjoy the Las Vegas Hilton because it is a little off the strip. The hotels on the strip always seem so chaotic and intense to me, I like to get a little peace when I return to the place I'm staying. The monorail, however, stops right at the hotel, so its easy to get around if you want to go to the strip hotels. The Hilton staff is very pleasant and accommodating, the restaurants and bars are good, with plenty of choices. My only complaint was that I didn't win at the slots!

We had stayed at this hotel in the past and the rooms were wonderful, but that was about 5 years ago. The value was great. The rooms are under renovation and we were given one of the older ones. We complained and were given another room. It was also once of the older ones, but better than the first. Don't reserve online until all the rooms have been renovated, otherwise you take a chance on gettting one of the older rooms. Call and make sure you get one of the newly renovated rooms. I don't think I will ever stay at this property again. It is worth it to just book one of the properties on the strip with a higher rating. We used to recommend this hotel as a better value, but that has changed and we will never again recommend this property. Maybe after they complete the renovations it will be better, but it is too late for me.

Huge place that is accessible to the convention center. Gaming area is smaller than other strip area casinos. Everything was adequate here for attending a conference. However, I would not choose this location for a recreational Las Vegas trip.

I have been a loyal and returning guest to the Las Vegas Hilton. I
have stayed here 4 separate times in the calendar year 2010. I have
even visited the casino and continued to give this hotel my business
even on a one day trip to Las Vegas where I did not stay overnight. My
wife and I have enjoyed our visits. Unfortunately, on the latest
(currently still at the hotel) trip here - December 17 to December 19,
I have been extremely disappointed.

Upgrade problem:

I flew in from the east coast on Friday evening - December 17. I was
greeted warmly at the front desk, and was recognized as a Diamond
member. Additionally I was told I had been upgraded for being a
Diamond VIP. I highly doubt this was the case. In fact, on previous
visits as a Gold VIP, I was actually upgraded to better rooms. I was
even specific at the front desk to which time of room I wanted - and I
wasn't asking for a suite. I simply wanted the updated bathrooms (and
referenced the room I stayed in before earlier in the year). Instead,
I received an ordinary 'Classic Room' without an updated bathroom.
This was the least of my concern, as room cleanliness was even worse.
See below.

Room cleanliness:

I am surprised that the Hilton thought this room was ready for
check-in. The toilet wasn't 100% clean, my sheets had several stains
on them along with several holes. I found hairs in the sink and inside
the sheets of the bed. The shower curtain liner was extremely old and
emitted a disgusting musty odor. So, even though I was tired, I
actually packed up my belongings and returned to the front desk.

Room Swap:

The front desk listened to my concerns and did give me a new room - a
resort room. The front desk had to point out the fact that since I
didn't pay for a resort room, that the bottled water and safe were not
free. I had thought all along I was allowed bottled water by being
Gold VIP or higher? In fact, each time this year I had bottled water
free of charge. As far as the room goes, even though it's called a
'Resort Room', it's no better than a regular 'Classic Room'. It's the
same thing with the exception of having extra amenities included in
the price - water, etc.

I spoke with Van, a front desk supervisor on Saturday, December 18. He
listened to my concerns but didn't do much more. He offered another
room swap, but considering I was only in town for one additional
evening, what did that actually accomplish?

My expectations fell far short on this particular trip. While I was
not treated rudely, I also felt that there was no sincerity in my
discussions with the front desk. Also, I would have thought by
returning to this hotel multiple times in one calendar year would
actually mean something. Apparently both my wife and I were wrong
about that.

In summary, I will speak to the front desk when I check out today
about my experience. I also plan on calling the hotel to speak to the
highest possible manager I can reach. They should know about my
experience and why a loyal Hilton member (both to the entire chain of
hotels and to this particular hotel) will highly consider staying in a
different hotel. There are plenty of options in Las Vegas.

And one more thing: Apparently the hotel was having power issues. Some of the elevators were not in use because of this. Lines were growing really long to use them, and they are slow in the first place. I had to walk down the stairs to check out because I didn't have time to wait around. I was on the 25th floor. The final straw was the fact that they removed the Star Trek machines from Space Quest casino.

I come to Las vegas almost every year and stayed in several different Hotels at the Strip. The Las Vegas Hilton, were I already stayed several times has the best price-value relationship I encountered in Las Vegas, Only one block from the Strip - that means in walking distance, also connected with the monorail this partially new renovated Hotel is my best choice in LV.

I took advantage of an Escape to Vegas package for a three day jaunt to the Vegas area. I've stayed at this Hilton property prior, and really had a pleasurable experience taking advantage of the Resort Level floor, but I had failed to upgrade on this last trip and now regret it.

I was provided a room on the East Tower and have found some unpleasantries uncommon with the Hilton name. I've included pictures of the room depicting its layout, plus some housekeeping and maintenance issues in the bathroom. This would include rust noted on the tub drain, missing anchor bolts on the toilet and the area behind the sink which was not cleaned by the housekeeper. The sit down bench had some stains noted on it, and the carpet looked tattered.

It's a shame to note these items, especially after getting an excellent room rate, but this Hilton property has some room for improvement.
