“Sweet 16”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

My husband wanted to have a good experience watching the basketball games during the Sweet 16. LVH is known around town as being one of the best places to watch the games. We arrived about 1/2 hour before game time to find the sportbook packed. Since we had booked a resort level room we proceeded to the resort club lounge. It was a great experience as there were two TV's; one for each game, all the beer, wine and beverages you could drink for free and cheese and cracker snacks.
The room was spacious and included a refrigerator and safe. As old as the hotel is the room did not appear too worn. The room had a strip view without the strip price.

Room Tip: Go for the Club Resort room; it is worth the few extra dollars. The lounge is open from 6am to 8pm...

got 7 nights via Priceline bidding;
Priceline threw in $7.14/night bonus bucks;
in room "Go Green" threw in $8/night six of seven nights;
total cost after all taxes/fees = 6x$24.04 + 1x$34.04 = $178.28 for 7 nights!
(this property has no resort fees, too!)
not bad for guest who did no gambling!
Go Green allows one to opt out each day of maid service
in exchange for voucher = $8 food or $10 gambling, while still
being able to exchange towels & get toiletries from maids in hall;
(one is saving maid tip each Go Green day)
Go Green does not apply on check-in or check-out day;
First night in rm #2008, badly stained rug, requested & got
switched to #2739 for six nights, no issues, big, clean, & modern;
monorail station front of building; #108 bus stop 300 ft. in front of building;
cheap eats at Sportsbook Cafe next to sportsbook back end of casino;
to get around area nearly free, I bought bike via local craigslist for $60
& the sold it night before departure for $35. (=$25 six-day bike "rental");
McDonald's with free wireless ~1 mile west next to Circus Circus; or take
monorail 1-stop north to Saraha Station & McDonald's ~300 ft. north;
monorail passes 10%-off if purchased online in advance (7-day pass = $50.40, timer starts with first use); maids friendly, front desk service can
vary depending on friendliness of individual -- so if request rebuffed, keep
trying at different times! only weakness = location, a bit isolated if walking;

Room Tip: #2008 has very stained rug; #2739 in real good condition;

The rooms right now are very inexpensive but they are not worth a lot. A weird, mildewy smell greeted us when we walked from the casino to the elevators. When the elevator door opened, a mouse ran out and we could hear others scratching around in the ceiling. When the elevator door shuts, you feel like you are in a coffin. Loud clankaty clank sounds. Scary if you are uncomfortable in small elevators that are rickety. When the door opened on the 24th floor, we breathed a sigh of relief, dropped to our knees, and kissed the stinky hallway carpet which smelled like butt. Our room had a bed that was not quite made at 330. We had waited a long time to check in and so called housekeeping. They did not make up the room until 630. We ventured into the "resort room" which is a nice upgrade for guests to include. There is no resort fee at this hotel but you must pay for Internet. The resort room had free beer, wine, and cheese at night, and free coffee and muffins in the morning. The pool was enjoyable and a DJ played music from 4 to 7. I asked for a request, but he said that my song was a little "dated" for the audience. I looked around and saw all ages and races around the pool. The DJ decided that we all wanted a lot of rap music. Meh. The biggest nightmare here is self parking. There is absolutely no parking garage security. No guys on bikes or cameras anywhere. Roving gang members were peeking into car windows and trying doors to see if they would open. My wife and I ran for our lives from the garage back into the hotel. I tried to let someone in security know, but could not find a single security person at all anywhere in the hotel. Kinda scary. Hard to resist the low prices they are offering right now (April 2013) though.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 24th floor and enjoy the "resort room"

I really had not heard a lot about the LVH, but ut is a really nice hotel. The rooms are very spacious. The bed is very soft and comfortable. The only down side is that the pool closed at 7Pm and the internet is $9.99 per day. I would stay

Room Tip: We stayed in the North Tower on the 26th floor it was a nice view of the city lights. The hotel sit...

I was a bit worried after looking at previous reviews, but we took a chance and stayed here. The price was great. The check-in fast and we got to check in early (10:00AM), that was soooo nice. The monorail was very convenient. The slots were loose enough to keep us playing. The sports book was comfy and fun. The pool was very good. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The only complaint was the elevators in the evenings - they did not have them all running so the wait could take a while - during the day you could get right on. Overall, we're not super picky and sure this place is a bit dated - if you're looking for plush and opulence this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a pleasant stay at a nice price, go for it.

Stayed at the LVH for several days while attending a trade show. This hotel is off the busy main strip, but you can take the monorail to the action if that is what you crave. As the hotel was next to the convention center, we were situated right where we wanted to be. We were pleased that there were not hordes of people at the pool and the spa. We have stayed on the strip, and have found that an oasis like this is worth its weight in gold. The hotel may appear to some as a bit frayed at the edges, but we found the room to be spacious and well appointed. We liked the combination of the new and old Las Vegas architecture. We have stayed at several of the theme hotels, and found this establishment to be superior. The room was clean, bed comfortable. The staff were efficient and friendly. The restaurants and buffet were quite good and reasonably priced. We would stay there again, and intend to when we return to Vegas next year.
Try the buffet- both the breakfast and dinner was very good. The staff at the buffet were lovely and engaging. The monorail is $5.00, a better bargain is the day pass if you are going to explore.
All hotels charge extra to use the spa and exercise room, be aware this is a standard add on for not only Las Vegas but other major tourist cities.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a fabulous view of the mountains and the rest of Las Vegas.

We thought we got a smokin' deal, 3 nights and 4 days for $150.00. The staff was very nice, no problem with them. the trouble was everything else. Had some trouble with the air conditioning not turning on, but within a half hour, they were there to fix it. The shower pressure was terrible. The drain did not drain very good. The carpet had BIG stains everywhere. The bottles of water in the room were $4.00 each, the coffee was also $4.00 a cup. There were dirty glasses and dishes all up and down the hallway for the entire time we were there. We talked to some people who got the same deal we got and they took an upgrade, pretty much got the same kind of room as us stained carpet and all.

Room Tip: The spa was not working.
