Ok so my fiance and I planned to get married at the Flamingo hotel in las vegas. We brought along about 8 people. Let me just say that my fiance and I always stay in 3 star resorts so we know what to expect and we werent expecting caviar and mints on our pillows my any means. First off flight delayed 3 hours not the hotels fault of course but when we landed in vegas and checked into our resort I asked the lady at the front desk if we could be upgraded to a Go room. She told me they didnt have any available. Then she told us we were to be charged $300.00 per person per night as a deposit. I had never heard of this so I questioned her and she said EVERYBODY has to pay it. Meanwhile my fiances brother has just finished checking in and we asked him about the deposit, he said he didnt have to pay one and it was already included when he booked the trip. We had booked the trip at the same time and through the same airline. When I asked the front desk lady about it she just shrugged it off and then told me she could change it to $100.00. And then the front desk lady next to her offered a couple a free upgrade to a Go room which was supposabily not available when I asked. Needless to say after about a half and hour at the front desk we paid the deposit of 100.00 and went to our room. Now the room for not being a GO room was fine. The air worked, bed was comfy you could tell it was old but still a good room nonetheless. The bathroom was also fairly big so that was a plus as well. So the Flamingo is in a great location, the casino is pretty small but easy to navigate so that was all good. Our second day we went to the courthouse got our marriage license which was a breeze and lounged by the pool. Be aware that the pool does fill up and so do the chairs so either get there early or sniper around for anybody that looks like they are leaving. But the pool area itself is very nice and tropical themed. major plus on the pool. Let it be known that for the most part the staff and the restaurants were quite rude. The next day was the day of the wedding. Met at the chapel, got married by the water falls it was beautiful! The wedding coordinators were great and everything went off without a hitch (sorry for the pun) Cant say enough good things about the wedding coordinators or the minister both were exceptional at their jobs. After the wedding the 10 of us went to the paradise buffet to eat and were told we had to pay an 11% gratuity for groups of 8 or more. No big deal we paid the money, but when we were to be seated the hostess told us she had to split us up into 5 and 5 because they didnt have tables that large. My fiance and my family demanded that they get their gratuity back since we werent sitting together we werent a group of 10 anymore. After an argument with the hostess the manager did come and seat us together, but come on folks this is a wedding party for crying out loud!!! The food was good the buffet in the morning was excellent! Not as pricey if you go during the week which I would recommend to anybody if possible. Also my sister and brother in law NEVER once got their rooms cleaned and they were never in their rooms the whole day. For 3 days not one single person cleaned their room and the same happened to my mother. When the called and asked for clean towels they were brought up to the room promply (how nice of housekeeping!) The next day we left. Things to see: the Bellagio fountains, check out the MGM grand looked like a super hotel and the lion exhibit was great, walk or take the monorail to a few other hotels they are great to see and the free show are awesome. Overall I wouldnt stay at the Flamingo hotel again. The staff were rude and unconcerned with the overall well being of their customers and the rooms. There were a few perks, the pool, the food, the wedding coordinators (if it hadnt been for them the whole trip and wedding would have been a major bust) Vegas is a cool city, but my now husband and I got much better treatment at the Flamingo resort in cancun which was only a 2 star resort. Overall dont waste your money here there are other hotels in vegas that you could get more bang for your buck!
