Ok so my fiance and I planned to get married at the Flamingo hotel in las vegas. We brought along about 8 people. Let me just say that my fiance and I always stay in 3 star resorts so we know what to expect and we werent expecting caviar and mints on our pillows my any means. First off flight delayed 3 hours not the hotels fault of course but when we landed in vegas and checked into our resort I asked the lady at the front desk if we could be upgraded to a Go room. She told me they didnt have any available. Then she told us we were to be charged $300.00 per person per night as a deposit. I had never heard of this so I questioned her and she said EVERYBODY has to pay it. Meanwhile my fiances brother has just finished checking in and we asked him about the deposit, he said he didnt have to pay one and it was already included when he booked the trip. We had booked the trip at the same time and through the same airline. When I asked the front desk lady about it she just shrugged it off and then told me she could change it to $100.00. And then the front desk lady next to her offered a couple a free upgrade to a Go room which was supposabily not available when I asked. Needless to say after about a half and hour at the front desk we paid the deposit of 100.00 and went to our room. Now the room for not being a GO room was fine. The air worked, bed was comfy you could tell it was old but still a good room nonetheless. The bathroom was also fairly big so that was a plus as well. So the Flamingo is in a great location, the casino is pretty small but easy to navigate so that was all good. Our second day we went to the courthouse got our marriage license which was a breeze and lounged by the pool. Be aware that the pool does fill up and so do the chairs so either get there early or sniper around for anybody that looks like they are leaving. But the pool area itself is very nice and tropical themed. major plus on the pool. Let it be known that for the most part the staff and the restaurants were quite rude. The next day was the day of the wedding. Met at the chapel, got married by the water falls it was beautiful! The wedding coordinators were great and everything went off without a hitch (sorry for the pun) Cant say enough good things about the wedding coordinators or the minister both were exceptional at their jobs. After the wedding the 10 of us went to the paradise buffet to eat and were told we had to pay an 11% gratuity for groups of 8 or more. No big deal we paid the money, but when we were to be seated the hostess told us she had to split us up into 5 and 5 because they didnt have tables that large. My fiance and my family demanded that they get their gratuity back since we werent sitting together we werent a group of 10 anymore. After an argument with the hostess the manager did come and seat us together, but come on folks this is a wedding party for crying out loud!!! The food was good the buffet in the morning was excellent! Not as pricey if you go during the week which I would recommend to anybody if possible. Also my sister and brother in law NEVER once got their rooms cleaned and they were never in their rooms the whole day. For 3 days not one single person cleaned their room and the same happened to my mother. When the called and asked for clean towels they were brought up to the room promply (how nice of housekeeping!) The next day we left. Things to see: the Bellagio fountains, check out the MGM grand looked like a super hotel and the lion exhibit was great, walk or take the monorail to a few other hotels they are great to see and the free show are awesome. Overall I wouldnt stay at the Flamingo hotel again. The staff were rude and unconcerned with the overall well being of their customers and the rooms. There were a few perks, the pool, the food, the wedding coordinators (if it hadnt been for them the whole trip and wedding would have been a major bust) Vegas is a cool city, but my now husband and I got much better treatment at the Flamingo resort in cancun which was only a 2 star resort. Overall dont waste your money here there are other hotels in vegas that you could get more bang for your buck!

Location is the best thing about this hotel, but honestly, it's not enough of a reason for us to stay here again. I traveled with my now-husband (we got married in Vegas) and some of our family, most of which stayed at the hotel. The first part about this check in was horrible: the clerk asked for a credit card of course for incidentals, but since as normal people not trying to be in debt forever we do not have a regular generic credit card, we only had a debit card. Well, if you give them a regular credit card, they just get an authorization on it. If you give them a debit card, however, they immediately debit $500 from your account, and when you check out, it could take several weeks to put the money back on your card!! If it weren't for my wonderful mother-in-law, I'd have been staying on the streets of Vegas! We had this trip paid in advance for over a month, had recommended several people stay there with us, so the fact that there was no way around this was very disappointing. On the eve of my wedding day, I was in tears and completely embarrassed at the front of the 20 minutes check-in line. Once we got into our rooms, my mom found that her room had a massive gross sticky stain between the beds and the bathroom was very moldy. The same went for my mother-in-law's room. Since they were only staying for two nights, they were able to get the general manager to upgrade mine and my husband's room for the remainder of our lengthier stay. That was probably the nicest they were, but even that was a feat because the clerk at the front desk was not going to hold an upgraded room for us, even though I was literally slipping into my wedding gown and trying to get down to meet the limo at the entrance of the hotel, so I really was in no state to change rooms right there on the spot. Thankfully, my mom was able to get them to hold the upgraded mini-suite for us. The rooms in general need to be BADLY upgraded, especially the restrooms (even in the mini-suites). I'm sure if you pay extra for the overdone GO rooms it might be a nice hotel, but overall, not so much. The first day we got there, someone on our floor had their room service lunch leftovers sitting outside of their room, and no one from housekeeping bothered to clean it up until the next morning. That's just old food sitting in the hallway all afternoon and night! Additionally, though they have a fitness center, they charge you an extra $10-$20 a day to use it. What a joke! The shows at the hotel were great (X Burlesque and George Wallace), but you can go to them without staying at the Flamingo. Trust me, next time, we're staying in a nicer hotel on the south side of the strip, like MGM or Luxor.

We originally were booked to stay at Circus Circus, but decided that The Flamingo was a better location, and seemed to have a much better pool! We therefore changed our booking a few weeks before going. We were so glad we did. The Flamingo has a great location so that no matter how tired you are, you can step right out of the hotel and be on the strip, in the middle of everything!

The room was large, with two double beds, and plenty of space. It was not pristine, but for the money it was clean enough, and easy to sleep in! We booked a non-smoking room, but to be honest it really did smell smoky when we arrived! We unpacked and tried to put it out of our minds but the smell was still there! We reported it straight away and was offered another room, instead we chose to have the room sprayed and this solved the problem. At the end of the day, we wanted to get out and explore, and not worry about a room we were to spend little time in anyway! The staff were helpful and would have moved us if needed! The tiles in the bathroom could do with re-grouting and the bathroom was a little tired, but then it still served the purpose well, and the maid cleaned every day and left clean towels. This is really all you need in Vegas...because you don't go there to stay in your room!

The pool was lovely, but extremely crowded. This was the only thing we struggled with, as we are a couple that likes to find a nice spot and chill. And we don't smoke so struggled even more when we were lying so close to people who were smoking all day! There are so many beds around the pool and they were a little too close together for our liking, but we did find a spot and enjoyed a little time in the sun. If you want peace and quiet around a pool then this is not the place to go, the music is blasting, and it is like being at a pool party all day, but then you are in Vegas so just have a beer and go with it!

The truth is this, The Flamingo is great value with a fantastic location, and it suited us well. As always, if we had lots of money to spare we are sure we would love to try somewhere like The Venetian, New York New York, or Caesars Palace, but they cost more and the location is no better. The Flamingo is cheap and cheerful and we enjoyed it!

Just a couple of extra tips, The Casino Royale down the road from the Flamingo has bottles of beer for 99 cents! The Imperial Palace next door to the Flamingo has great machines and a great atmosphere! The McDonalds all do a $ menu, which is fab, and on the whole Vegas is a great place to visit! There are not many places where you can stroll around at 10 in the morning, with a cocktail in your hand, playing on the slots. This place is fab at any time of the day, and really is a 24hour place so you never feel as if you are missing out on anything, and you can dress up or dress down depending on your mood! The New York, New York hotel is gorgeous!

Couple of down sides, everyone smokes inside and outside, it can be difficult to adjust when you first get there. And there are long lines of people on the street handing out cards with details of girls that can be delivered to your door, they hand them out to you whether you are male/female/in a couple or whatever! People drop them on the floor and this makes the place look dirty, its a shame for such a nice place!

There are more good things than bad, Vegas is great!

We stayed on the 16th floor in a "go" room. It was spacious, clean and had a wonderful view of the garden area. I especially liked the setee in front of the window for relaxing and taking in the view. The bathroom was roomy and very modern, although I did not like the raised bowl sink. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable.

We had reserved a king bed, but when we checked in they had us down for 2 queens, plus a room on the 22nd floor. I asked to stay in the lowest room possible and showed the clerk my confirmation for a king bed. It was about 10 a.m. Not only did the clerk quickly find a go room with a king bed on the lowest floor possible, she found a room that was ready in 45 minutes, so we did not have to check our luggage and come back later.

A good experience and we would stay there again.

Look...too many people have the illusion that you should get a gorgeous hotel at homeless prices. Nice try. You get what you pay for.
At the Flamingo you pay very modest prices for a better than modest location. Flamingo is indeed the geocentric middle of the strip. Don't expect the fancy towels in the rooms, or a flat-screen tv in the standard rooms. The GO rooms don't seem to be worth the extra money.
For the money, and for the location, stay here for sure.
