“Enjoyable”

I had to stay here due to a conference. Better than expected due to excellent staff. Internet is spotty; we were told that this was because of the casino. Loved Margaretaville, which was way more fun than I thought it would be. I got a free upgrade to a roomy suite. This was a nice surprise. Airport shuttle with a courtly driver was only $7.00. My bill for three nights was less than $300.00, including the shuttle.

Room Tip: Be nice to the check in staff

Green Features: I tired to talk the maid into not taking the towels, which did not need daily washing, but she said that she would get into trouble if she didn't change them.

This hotel had a really good location. The pool was extremely crowded but it was really nice. The rooms were clean but I was not a fan of the frosted glass bathrooms. We had a perfect window view of the 4th of July fireworks so it was worth the extra cost.

Okay we had a Studio room (5151) comp that still required us to pay the dreaded $35 resort fee.

The room was large and looked good at first until we looked around.

No fridge? This room has NOT been upgraded. Not even close.
Lets see still had an old Philips Tube TV that had a whopping 9 channels.

The couch was so worn that it pretty much had no plush left to it. The bathroom cabinets really are badly worn even though the counter tops don't look bad.
Have to say nice feeling towels and large at that.

Going to bed that first night proved interesting. Friend I was traveling with climbed into bed and looked up at the ceiling to see a large strip of packing tape running up the wall onto the ceiling with human hair attached to it.
Not sure I want to know what went on in this room before us.

It was really nice to be woken up at 5 am with a very loud scrapping noise that lasted until well after we got up. It turned out that this room is next to the service elevator.

Getting up in the morning and getting ready proved interesting as started to find tape attached to the couch, chair, desk, wall etc. Now we are sure we don't want to know what went on in here.

We left a nice note on the head board of the bed with an arrow pointing up. The room was cleaned upon our return.

The one thing we did notice is one of the restaurants has been closed until further notice and the Buffet is only open Thursday to Sunday we were told. I would say things are slow in Vegas.
Went to see KA at MGM and I bet if there were 400 people in a 2000 seat theater one would be lucky.
Also note that starting April 1 MGM is starting a $10 a day parking rate and all hotels are expected to follow.
This new money grab with the resort fee makes some rooms cost more than the room itself.

The internet was very slow and only has a 5 mb download rate.

Checking out and mentioning the problems to the front desk fell on deaf ears. Cox cable has been working on the cable for a week we were told.

In the end we got what we paid for and that wasn't much.

Room Tip: avoid a corner room

We got in on a Monday evening, the check-in line wasn't so bad for my husband and I but the few folks around us were complaining. Maybe I've just been used to longer lines.

Erin at check-in was amazing, she took care of us and put us up in a smoking room on a higher floor since I am a smoker.

However, as great as she was, I instantly regretted that decision. We didn't have much of a view - basically saw the two opposing walls of the building, and some palm trees in the middle. Now I know, we're in Vegas, so no one really cares about the view from the room because you can see it on the strip, so we didn't really think much of it.

The problem on the 26th floor is, and I say this with no disrespect to anyone, but the smell of weed on that floor is beyond nauseating. Don't get me wrong, we'll smoke a joint once in a while but to constantly smell it while we're walking to and from our room is disgusting. It lingered in the walls and carpet. We ran into hotel management (super cool guy who walked us to the strip) and he explained that basically although it is illegal, they have no grounds to bust into anyone's room accusing them of doing anything so they kinda have to let it be.

Honestly, it made us both never wanna smoke again lol

The walls of the rooms are also paper thin. We were in town for a convention so needed to head to bed fairly early, and heard our next door neighbors yell at the top of their lungs all night, it got louder as they drank and they even tried to open the door between our rooms. I heard it jingle and the moron next door actually yelled out "it doesnt open!" .. a firm punch on the door made her stop but it's pretty pathetic that one has to even resort to doing that. I know it's not the hotel's fault but if they have non-adjacent rooms, maybe aim for one of those instead.

The casino is decent and the restaurants also. The buffet is good too. We only had breakfast there so I can't tell how the other meals are, but people seemed to line up daily so it couldn't be bad.

The best part of this hotel is location. This is prime location. There is a monorail stop at the hotel making it easy to go anywhere on the strip, and you're just a few steps away from the High Roller located between the Linq and the Flamingo hotels. A must for anyone visiting the first time.

Our trip cost us for 4 days: 1500$ Canadian for two including flight and hotel.
The value was there, I would probably stay again but forget about the smoking room, the elevators take you down quickly enough to go outside for a smoke.

Maybe next time!

Room Tip: Non-smoking floor, non-adjacent rooms.

My wife and I just spent 3 days and 2 nights at the Flamingo. We enjoyed our stay and would go back in a heartbeat. The room was large, the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. For the money (beware of the typical Vegas "bait and switch" on the "resort fee") this was a great deal. The two drawbacks were a very small bath, and a small registration area. This isn't a new building and this configuration is typical for older hotels.

Room Tip: the "happy hour" at Carlos & Charlie's is terrific! 2 for 1 margaritas is tough t...

We got a terrific price on a studio suite that we understood was not recently remodeled but found when we arrived that it was probably 35 years since a remodel. Staff was very helpful in putting us in a newer suite (on a very busy week) for a $50 a day upgrade. We were surprised to see how out of date this suite was with a marble top that was so scarred and marked up, a Denon DVD/stereo system that didn't work at all, a sound machine that had all the lettering off buttons so you couldn't use. Carpet was patched and frayed near the bed. Resort fee was $32 a day on top of room fee.
On the positive side, location in the center of the Strip was awesome, staff really worked with us, room was clean and comfortable bed. Next time however, we will probably pay more and stay elsewhere.

Overall, decent experience. I liked the combination of convention and gaming experience. I would have liked to have been informed of the most economical transportation available from airport to Flamingo. Only told about the limo -- found out that taxis are easily available and cost far less (taxi costs about $22; limo costs $70).
