I just returned from Las Vegas and stayed at the Golden Nugget. All I can say is this is by far the best hotel I have stayed at for the price in Las Vegas. The rooms are great as is the service and location. They have the best lunch buffet at only $10.99, with excellent food. The local casinos such as the Fremont have $3 black jack tables and the beverage servers bring beers frequently. Downtown is the only place to stay in my opinion.

Hotel was nice - I'd compare it to a Hilton. I stayed in the North Tower. Bathroom was small but nice. Everything was clean and I felt safe in the hotel as a solo female traveler (although off Tremont St, I definitely would not feel safe wondering around downtown). I had a great rate ($65/night) and for a 2-night business trip, it was fine. Hotel restaurants were fine - I did not try room service. Internet access was pricey.

Very nice hotel, and the pool is super, the Buffet is ok the best is breckfast and lunch, diner is no that good, the room are very nice.

Our mixed family group (4 rooms) from CA and NY had a great time at the Golden Nugget. We had 2 economy rooms (spacious/nice bathroom/older decor) and 2 gold club rooms (modern, vessel sinks, TV in bathroom mirror, VIP check in with no lines, unlimited bottles of water and snacks, fresh coffee and newspapers in the morning plus a coupon booklet). Very comfy king bed with feather pillows and duvets.

We didn't win but others in the group couldn't lose at slots or black jack...so was a good trip casino wise. (Try the Elvis slots!) Great location with easy access to the Fremont St. activities and casinos. Great for young (lots of free entertainment) and older (close to other casinos, easier walks than on the strip). The Grotto restaurant was divine! Out of 6 of us, not one complaint and lots of compliments! Cannot say the same about the Cafe, would not eat there again..only 3 out of 8 enjoyed their meals (and they ate sandwiches.) Actually tried the breakfast buffet which was Ok especially with a 2 for 1 coupon. Easy free valet (call down ahead and the car will be waiting for you.) Cool pool with slide through shark tank!
