“Overall good experience in Downtown Vegas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I prefer staying downtown while visiting Las Vegas. The Four Queens is located in the center of Fremont Street so you are within 2 blocks of everything. Free parking. Magnolias is a pretty good restaurant and if you have a players card you can usually find a 2 for 1 deal for most meals. Price of food at Magnolias is very reasonable, even without a comp. Rooms are nice, somewhat renovated but still dated. The loud music on Fremont Street could be a problem if you are hoping to sleep before 2 a.m. But if you go to Vegas to sleep I would not suggest staying downtown. I will stay here again. New Year's Eve downtown is much more enjoyable than the Strip, in my opinion.

Room Tip: All rooms are about the same. Clean and loud until the early hours.

If your room faces the bright lights, it may be difficult to sleep.

Try to ask for a room that faces a quieter side of the street.

Ask the front desk for dining recommendations, I remember enjoying a discounted steak for US$9.99 at their restaurant, some deals are only meant for hotel guests.

I've stayed at the Queens many times as I like the feel of old Vegas. I would have to say the Queens is getting old and needs a total makeover of its rooms Lots of things didn't work in the room but I'm not a complainer so I just brushed it off. Bed was ok and they had hot water so I got through the weekend. Location is great and the staff was friendly.

Room Tip: They are all about the same in my opinion.

Husband and i booked our 5 night stay at 4 queens for last week 3 months ago and requested a freemont street view. Arrived late to hotel at 1am front desk gal pretty cold, put us in room 235, make sure you never get this room has to be worst one in whole hotel!! All you see when you look out is parking garage and building pipes! felt like i was in prison! Immediately returned to front desk she said hotel was full but we would be moved in morning! Which we were by 11am to room 416! perfect for us right on freemont under the canopy! we loved that room! Great view of all the action! We dont retire till the am when were in vegas so the noise was well over by the time we hit the sheets! Was probably the the ones making noise! They did have earplugs in room, didnt use them though! im sure our neighbors did!! get a coupon book at check-in for some good meal deals! rooms a little dated but so is the rest of the property, but thats why we like to stay on Freemont love the old feel of Vegas! Cleaning staff did a great job and always had a greeting when passing in the hallway! had coffee in room which was a plus, wish there was a small fridge though. Magnolias is a good place to eat food always good, service hit and miss though, We did wehad a good time playing poker at the casino bars and had good bartender service! Remember to tip well, they work hard!

It's 1:50 am and noise from the street music is so loud there is no was I can sleep. Will never stay here again. On a long trip and need sleep for tomorrow...not gonna happen. On 12th floor of the north tower so didn't expect street noise. Rock band is so loud it is beating through my body. Don't know why we were given no warning.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I would never have chosen the Four Queens, Hotwire did that for me; but boy am I glad they did. The five nights we stayed in mid December started on a Monday, the hotel was nearly empty during the week and we were given a room on the 19th floor of the South Tower facing West toward the Golden Nugget, it had a million dollar view, for a super cheap $21 room rate.

The room and the hotel ARE dated...and that is precisely the point of a vintage Las Vegas stay. With the exception of updated casino machine games, and flat screens in the rooms, the Queens remains a hotel frozen in time... a time that fans of the movie "Casino" long for... the seventies, when the hotels (including the Four Queens) were built with loans from the Midwest States Teamsters Pension Fund... and all that went with it (wink wink).

The hotel is unique among the places on Freemont Street in that it does seem so frozen in time. Especially in the Restaurant Magnolia's, which has one of the most unique over look views of a low ceilinged casino anywhere... let's face it, most casino's don't have low ceilings.

The slot machines were loose enough to keep us playing for a week, and we had a wonderful anniversary weekend in a hotel that was almost empty.

The hotel is not the 'new' Las Vegas.... it has small rooms, and yes, it does smell like smoke, which is better than the artificial caustic pineapple smell in the Las Vegas Club, at least for me.

The staff at the Queens is friendly enough, but don't expect to be fawned upon unless you loose an awful lot of money.

I never stay at the same hotel in Las Vegas twice... there are too many to sample... but I totally WOULD stay at the Four Queens again, should I make it through ALL the hotels in Vegas.

I would Recommend this hotel for anyone who is a fan of classic Las Vegas movies... or anyone wanting a GENUINE VINTAGE Las Vegas experience.

Or anyone wanting great value, in an excellent setting.

Room Tip: The South Tower is quiet enough to sleep during the party outside... so long as the party doesn'...

We recently stayed at the Four Queens, taking advantage of an Expedia deal. We asked for a room that would be quiet and otherwise we got a basic room that was to be expected for the price in an older hotel.

It had been 12 years since we'd last been to Vegas and I was glad we chose downtown. The "crowd" between downtown and the strip was distinctly different....downtown is much more lower key, casual and slower paced. It was nice to wander outdoors up and down trafficless Freemont Street. We found the bus system is the most convenient way to get to the strip and back and the transit drivers quite helpful.....we bought a three day pass at appx $16.00 pp. Some of the prices at either the North or South Outlet mall, also easily accessible by bus, were incredible - 50%, even 70% off of quality brands.

One thing that was a little surprising was the great number of street hawkers and beggars all actively hustling for money - both on the strip and downtown. It got annoying after awhile and seemed worse than in Mexico.

The front desk advised there was no wifi available for ipads even for a fee.....laptops using specific browsers only.

Otherwise no complaints!
