“Decent gaming, is centrally located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Visited this property during our recent stay on Fremont St. mainly because the last time here, it was known as Fitzgeralds and it has since been remodeled. it is now more open, has decent gaming, is centrally located on the Fremont Street experience and we noticed a lot of foot traffic going into the casino which is layed out nicely with the long bar in the middle with slots and table games basically surrounding it. We wondered if The D (stands for downtown) was now mostly geared towards a younger crowd as the music was always loud inside but we saw older people playing games so maybe it was just the time we went. It looked clean and spacious. there is an escalator both inside and out that goes to a second floor that features vintage slot machines which was interesting and there is a fast food restaurant (McDonalds) just inside the main entrance door which also is very busy. only noticed one set of restrooms by the inside escalator. Staff was very courteous during our time there with plenty of waitresses around. We did not have rooms here so one might want to check the reviews otherwise, we found The D to be a rather nice place to visit and a very possible location to stay on our next trip if they can offer a better deal.

I booked two rooms at this hotel. Reservations and check in were no problem. Fast, easy and friendly service. The rooms appear to be updated. Looks like new bedding and paint. Furniture still looks dated. First room was clean and tidy. No problems. Second room could've been more desirable.Crack in the TV. Hair on the pillowcases, hair all over the bathroom floor and no toiletries were left in the bathroom. Maybe the maid was in a hurry? Elevators are awful. They only have four and you are only allowed to use the one that is designated for your floor. Faster and efficient? No. The wait is terrible and the elevators are very small. On the upside the Casino was nice. Lots of newer games to choose from., Disappointed in the long bar. I've always heard great things about the flair bartenders. There was no flair in sight the night we were there. Maybe its reserved for the younger people at the end of the bar. Would I stay here again? Probably not.

We had an evening event near the heart of Fremont Street area and decided to stay overnight at the newly remodeled "D". and it was a good choice. Our king room was a nice size, comfy bed, and the price was good. A couple of things on the downside - AC/heat had a constant fan noise - not really loud, but with the remodel it should have been upgraded and quiet. As with other downtown hotels, no in-room coffee. The elevators are computer controlled but they take too long to arrive for a new system and it was a bit annoying. I would recommend asking for a quiet room as we did - away from the Saturday night music and noise out on Fremont St.Experience. We made this request and our room was very quiet - no noise at all. The $20 resort fee was expected and it still was a good rate.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, away from the noise and music on Fremont Street.

Was disappointed. We arrived and had to walk through the smoke filled casino. The rooms were sparse with furniture from the 70's. The bed was good though. The pipes in the bathroom were making a horrid noise all night then had no hot water. Asked to move us to another room and got the run around. Changed rooms the following day. The rooms are loud even on the 27th floor. The elevators are a joke and then they have the nerve to charge a resort fee. I hate being nickle and dimed. Save the headache and stay at the Golden Nugget

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel and if you have to get a room that doesn't face freeemont

We appreciate the review from your recent stay and it's unfortunate to hear you were not satisfied with your experience. Our apologies for the lack of hot water, and we'll be working to ensure that is not an issue in the future. The elevator system is brand new and we're smoothing out the kinks still. Although we do charge a resort fee, we've also dropped our room rates even further to offset the additional charge. Thank you for the feedback and we'll be using your comments to further improve the guest experience.

First impressions are important and Lauren Nakata exemplified that! Upon Checking-In, Lauren was very friendly and helpful with my questions and had me walking towards the guest elevators in two minutes!
These are no ordinary elevators. These are computer-controlled where you enter the desired floor and the screen tells you which of the four elevators to enter. The selected elevator indicates which floor(s) it intends to stop on.
The halls towards my room was well lit and uncluttered. Even designated as a "non-smoking" room, I was pleasantly surprised that the air was very clean upon entry. The bathroom was clean, with most amenities.
The two queen-sized beds were firm, but soft and very comfortable! The view was quite impressive and not just looking into the adjacent hotel.
I can't wait until my stay next year!

My boyfriend and I traveled last week to Las Vegas. We stayed here at The D Hotel.. The casino was nice and the bar was great. The only complaint we had was the shower.. The water pressure was low and the temperature kept changing from cold to scorching hot.

We just got back from our November 2014 - 4 night stay and it was great. We would definitely stay there again. Nice rooms with good beds. We upgraded to Suite with Fridge for only $10 a night more. The elevators are a little weird but there was usually some one there to explain how they work for the first time. You have to punch in your floor number on the panel and it will tell you which one of 4 elevators A, B, C or D to wait for. If you get on the wrong one or don't press in your floor number you will go for a ride to someone else's floor and have to go back down to the lobby. Simple once you do it once. Freemont Street is the best! Tons of stuff to see and do and everything is close. We will never stay on the new strip again. We just took a cab to New York New York and walked the new strip for a day. What a great time! PS. You may want to ask for a room around the 6th floor or higher if noise bothers you. There are bands playing all night.

Room Tip: You may want to ask for a room around the 6th floor or higher if noise bothers you when trying to sl...

Thank you for the review and we're glad to hear you had a terrific time downtown! For future reference, if the music is too loud from Fremont Street, we are always happy to move guests to a room away from the music, per availability. We appreciate the feedback and hope you'll join us again soon!
