had my doubts but i was very satisfied with my recent stay at the D 12-10/12-14.had requested high floor and was not facing freemont st(due to experience last year at four queens) got just that 30thfloor great view of city and mountians and noise from freemont st was not bad.another plus is that you control a/c or heat or just fan for white noise.room was good size king bed small sofa that had a pull out bed a table w/2 chairs a desk with safe and even a small fridge Bonus.tv was nice size with several channels.bathroom was good size.room was very clean with no smell of smoke.
overall i was very impressed with this newly remodeled hotel and my favorite hotels so far in my now four stays in las vegas.staff was friendly check in was fast, elevators were fast.cheap prices now but more popular it gets that will change.
location is great right on freemont st.mickey d's in hotel for quick cheap bite.

Room Tip: try for high floor not facing freemont street for a little more quiet night

We stayed for 2 nights in November 2012. We had stayed at the Fitz about 5 years ago. The rooms were completely redone. The long bar was great with music rocking at all times. Some thought it was loud but it helped drown out the non stop slot machine noise. The flair bartenders and dancers were a great touch. The location is amazing. You walk out the front door and there is a stage with great bands right there. Downtown is like a big party. We bar crawled from one end up to the plaza. What a great time!

This is the first time we ever stayed downtown. We always stay in the center of the Strip. We stayed for two nights the first week in October, 2012. We wanted to check it out since we're from the Detroit area, and it was promoted here on tv and billboards for a while prior to reopening. We stayed on the 28th floor in a refurbished room that was lovely with a beautiful view. We had all the amenities. Our only disappointment was no Detroit decor as we were led to believe. Only Detroit reference was the American Coney Island, which didn't open until a fews days after we checked out. We reserved one night only, but had such a blast on Fremont Street, we stayed another night. We would definitely stay at The D again. We paid $69 for Thursday and $109 for Friday. Still a bargain. It was so much more fun than on the Strip, even though we're seniors.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask if the room has been refurbished. The higher up the better for quiet.

Stayed at The D, formally Fitzgerald Hotel & Casino, for 6 days in early Nov 2012. If you give bad ratings for cigarette carpet burns and smoke smelling rooms then this hotel is for you since the carpets and wall paint were new in my room 1503. They had a Keurig coffee maker that uses the small K-cups with two Fiji pt bottles. Wireless is by Lasvegas.net with rates 1hr: $5, 14hr:$10, 72hr:$28, and 1 week:$40. The air conditioner and housekeeping were excellent. They are still remodeling and the café and buffet on the second floor were both were down until they are finished. The high dollar restaurant was open and the hot dog shop. The casino has a long bar, which gets packed with people on weekend. The table games have loud music popular to the young dancing girls around the tables. The D seems to be aiming for the 21-35 age groups with the music while the other casinos seem to be marketing the 50-70 age groups. The check in area is about the same and someone finally won the car in the penny slot area. The remodeling work was limited to the 2nd floor and many have been made in the casino. There is a Fremont Street escalator going up to the second floor balcony, but there was no escalators going down and the four room elevators serviced everyone that wants to leave the 2nd floor making traffic heavy though the casino. They will probably fix this short-coming of getting trapped on the second floor after remodeling. The electric, water, and elevators were down in the rooms for about 20 minutes for some reason. After the remodeling is finished The D should be newer and better. The D is close to Walgreens and the larger gift shops and next to the Four Queens and catty corner to the Fremont. It is called “The D” because the owner named it after himself.

Room Tip: The loud music comes from the street stage between the D and the 4 Queens Casino right next to McDon...

We have been staying at this hotel yearly for the past 4 of 5 years, since it was Fitzgeralds. The hotel has always been clean and the service good. However, since becoming The D, the new look certainly adds to the cleanliness of this hotel.
The Courtyard has one of the best breatfast around and the prices cannot be beat.

Room Tip: It's always nice to be able to look out on Freemont.

I visited the Hotel last week, while I was not staying at the Hotel, I did want to check it out being a Former Detroiter, and I was disappointed by the lack of Detroit Memorabilia, I would have thought that they would have incorporated some of the Great sports Teams of Detroit, The Motor City Theme, The Fist of Joe Louis, the only thing they seemed to transplant from Detroit,is the American Coney Island.
Why Call yourself the "D" Las Vegas? when you did notr go to any great lengths to bring the Nostalgia of Detroit to your Hotel?

On a better note, there is a Restaurant that is called Detroit Motor City Coney Island is located in Down Town Henderson, they are authentic Detroit, with National Coney Island Chili,Better Made Chips,Sanders Hot Fudge and Faygo Pop,and lots of Detroit Memorabilia.

We have been going to the D (formally Fitzgerald s) for about 7 years. Was very glad to see the up grades and casino improvements, However the music in the gaming area is just way to loud. Sitting at the tables I could not hear what the dealer was saying or even the person right next to me. That is how loud the music is. We will also be finding another hotel in the down town area to spend our money.
