Wow. We have probably stayed at Sam's town 25 times over the last 10 years. I am surprised I have not already written a review.

What is Sam's town? It is a locals casino, with lots of slot machines and video poker.not a lot of table games, but they have $3 minimum bets. The hotel rooms are best compared to a Courtyard or Hampton Inn.

What is Sam's town not? It is not on the Strip. It is not near the Strip. If this is your first visit to Las Vegas, do not consider Sam's town. You will be disappointed. You will need a car. Unlike strip hotels, there will not be a line of taxis to shuttle you around town. Sam's town is so far from anything else, a taxi would be cost prohibitive in any event.

Other reviews have provided a lot of information about the hotel and casino. I thought I would provide our reason for visiting this hotel 25+ times.

We like the low limit gambling options. At least low limit compare to strip hotels. The rooms are clean and functional. As many people say, why would you stay in your room when you go to Las Vegas? Sam's town has recently upgraded some rooms to their "premium" category. Premium means there is a mini refrigerator and coffee maker in the room, and they have put doors over the space for hanging clothes, creating a closet. As others have mentioned, all of the staff are friendly. There arereasonably priced food options on property. We do not need expensive, upscale dining.

One quick note if you are a poker player. Sam's town used to be one of the most popular poker rooms in Las Vegas. Really. But I am going back 10 years. For example, I once played craps with Phil Ivey after he left the poker room. The poker room still operates today but is a shadow of its former her self. In our most recent visit, we stayed for three days and there was never more than one table going at a time. interestingly, the one table never played no limit holdem.

Overall, we like Sam's town because we have been to Vegas numerous times and do not meet the hustle and bustle of the Strip. If you are going to Vegas primarily to gamble and reasonably priced accommodations, Sam's town is a good auction.

Had a third floor courtyard view room. Was very clean and nice. Their courtyard during the holidays are beautifully lit with lights and they have an evening laser/music show every so often that is holiday-themed too. Several dining options from Buffet to McDonalds to fast-food Chinese and Dunkin Doughnuts. There is a movie theater - did not go to - and a bowling alley of many, many lanes. We did go bowling and was fun! Used the buy one lane of bowling, get one free coupon given upon check-in and also used the buy one margarita and get one free too - was delicious, however the bar in the courtyard was excluded which was semi-annoying. Only real complaint was the "resort fee" which I'd read was $9.99 per day - still too much - ended up with tax to be over $14 per day!! And then to pre-print out a boarding pass, one has to sign up on their one computer for 30 minutes minimum at $6.95. I only needed about 5 minutes to print two boarding passes! I assume the "resort fee" is for the wireless internet available (too bad I did not have a portable printer) and for parking, pool (not useable in winter), etc. but almost $15 is too much. Otherwise place is great. You will need a car if staying here because very far from strip (they do have an occasional shuttle), but we had rented a car as we were doing some other sightseeing, so that was not an issue for us. Would stay there again even if grumbling about the resort fee.

Room Tip: To see the inner courtyard, request floors 3 and higher or will be just about treetop height. If roo...

Great place to stay, eat and gamble. The employees are fabulous and fun, never ran into anyone that was having a bad day! There are quite a few food options including a nice buffet. I ate at their steak house, Billy Bob's and they had a prime rib special that was well worth the 12.99 price! They have every game to play in their casino from bingo to a friendly poker room. Had great fun and even saw a movie at the Century Theatres. I will be returning soon!

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a view of the atrium - great light show at night.

This hotel is quite comfortable. While it is not near the major action of Las Vegas it is pretty easy to get around. Buffet has a decent selection and something to suit most tastes. Very comfortable large rooms that were kept very clean.

Very convenient for playing lots of bingo all day till 11pm

Machines seemed pretty tight.

Buffet was very good but they need to get people through the cashier more efficiently...always a long line with waiting and empty tables.

Room had a baby powder smell I didn't like so the maid stopped spraying it when she cleaned.

Overall a very enjoyable stay. Glass elevators scare me!!

Room Tip: get a room close to the elevator

Extremely nice folks work here. Great room with all amenities. Don't forget they have a multi-screen movie complex and good buffet. This was my first time at Sam's Town....have stayed at many Boyd properties including all the strip hotels. Really comfortable and homey and my wife and I had a really relaxing time. Like many commented, the light and sound show is very enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone looking for clean, quiet and good value for your dollars. We will definitely come back and stay again. Thanks Sam's Town for a great first-time experience!!!!

We were passing through Vegas and decided to try someplace off the strip. This was a very nice. stay. Rooms were clean and quiet. Several good food options within the casino. There is a nice garden area in the atrium with a regular show (free). We were there in December so the show and decorations were a Christmas theme. We got a room that included buffet breakfast, which was very nice, with several options. We'd definitely stay here again.
