“not bad for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

The hotel is a little on the aged side, but still comfortable and accessible.
The better if you are in a car and then the strip access is not a problem. Otherwise there are shuttle fares to the strip every 15-30 minutes.

We had two totally different experiences at the Rio the two times we were in Las Vegas in January. The first night we were on the 4th floor in the Impanema Tower. It was a nice small suite. The second time we stayed there we were upgraded to the Masquerade Tower. Our corner suite on the 8th floor was pure luxury. It had two bathrooms, a dining area, sitting area with huge flatscreen TV, and a huge bedroom with another huge flatscreen TV. The master bathroom was larger than most hotel rooms we have been in--a jacuzzi with a "waterfall Faucet", a separate shower, two lighted dressing tables, etc.

Room Tip: Ask if you can stay in Masquerade Tower...

Stayed at the Rio Las Vegas Feb. 9-12th. Airport shuttle drops you off at the back of the resort not near the erservations desk. That was the only drawback to the hole trip. You have to walk a bit to get to the reservations desk. Once there, check in took less than 5 minutes and the desk staff was very courteous. Our room was great in with a great view of the strip . Large open suite with a huge restroom. Hotel staff was freindy and the Carnival Buffet and Seafood Buffet allong with the All American grill were all awesome. Had a great trip and the Rio went above and beyond !!!

My wife and I stayed at the Rio Hotel and Casino recently. The room was clean, roomy, and comfortable. Housekeeping was prompt and efficient. All Rio employees we encountered were courteous, and helpful. The food prices in this resort are ridiculous, as is the case anywhere close to the strip. we rented a car for less than $100 for 4 days, and still saved $100's by having the freedom to drive to the cheaper, but just as good, restaurants off the strip. Unless you are mesmorized by famous TV chef's, you can get excellent quality food for half the price along Boulder Highway, the Fremont Street area, or anywhere off strip.
We spent a day at the Fremont Street Experience, having never been there in our many trips to Vegas. Wow, what a great time! It's really a high tech marvel. There's a constant show overhead on the tunnel-like roof with millions of LED lights. Live music, looser gambling odds, cheaper restaurants and bars...you can't go wrong. We've decided to stay at the Golden Nugget on Fremont next time we come to Las Vegas. It's every bit as nice as the strip casino resorts and is usually cheaper.

Just stayed 4 nights at the Rio Suites. I booked it thru Allegiant Air as a package with a flight from Bellingham and a car rental. It was good overall value for what was offered. The flights were reasonaby smooth, the Rio Suites are from the 90's I presume, which didn't bother me in the least. The rooms were large, clean, comfortable and I liked the floor to ceiling windows. Our room was in the Ipanema tower on the 14th floor and looked out towards the mountains and away from the Strip. Parking was free, which I considered to be an extra bonus. Yes, it is quite a walk from the parcade to the room, depending on where your room is located. The pool area was closed because it was quite cool (about 55 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and colder at night). The location is the only drawback in my opinion, because it is too far to walk to the Las Vegas Strip. Shuttle bus, or taxi, are your only options. The Voodoo resto on the 50th floor (although I don't think there are 50 floors in the main building of the hotel) is spectecular with it's outdoor patio, it is also very expensive. To use the fitness center and spa they charge $25 per usage. Overall we had a good experience at this hotel, and would return.

Room Tip: We liked the Ipanema Tower. Our room was spacious and fairly modern with black out curtains. The roo...

Rio may not be on the strip, but it makes up for it. Rooms are large and spacious, club voodoo is amazing, and hotel employees are helpful and kind. Called housekeeping for towels and items, it was at our room less then 10 minutes. I will stay here everytime I go to Vegas now.

I stayed at this hotel in Vegas, as the convention i attended, was held there. The hotel has a capacity for 2500 guests and it seemed pretty full. My experience was a very pleasant one - the staff were pleasant and helpful, the facilities were excellent and the hotel systems worked well with such a large group of people. As an example, I phoned Reception on the Thursday night, as I was checking out on the Friday and wanted to know how it worked. Turned out that all iI had to do was call Reception the next day and advise that I was checking out. Took me no more than 45 seconds! Reception advised that 1100 people were checking out the same day! The room was large and the bed comfortable.
There were the endless array of gambling machines and tables - I didn't gamble, but watched people lose their cash, get more, lose it again etc.
All in all a great place to stay in Vegas - off The Strip but a bus left on the half hour and carried hotel guests backand forth to The Strip
