We just returned from a whirlwind trip to Denver, San Diego, and Las Vegas, ending up at the Las Vegas Hilton the last night to see Barry's Ultimate Hits show. What a disappointment! Not that Barry wasn't great as usual, he looked and sounded wonderful (I've always had a crush on him!)....but it didn't start until 8:15 and we were walking out at 9:30! For $200 per ticket, I expected more! We were in the 3rd row and had great seats, but the concert was not up to his usual high standards. We have seen 3 Music and Passion shows at the LV Hilton and they were so much better! I don't know if it's the Hilton limiting his show to that length because of the economy and wanting the people back gambling or what, but we were really disappointed! If that is the case, I would recommend Barry exit the Hilton when he can and sing somewhere else where his fans won't be disappointed! I heard others on the way out saying how disappointed they were as well. I really expected to hear him sing some of the hits he is really known for, such as "Old Songs", "Ready to Take a Chance Again", "Looks Like We Made It", "Could It Be Magic", "All The Time", "One Voice", "Here Comes The Night", etc. Don't get me wrong, he sung some hits, "Copacabana", "Mandy", "Even Now"....but way too much from the album "The Mayflower", which, unless you are a HUGE Manilow fan (like me), you wouldn't even know those songs (and they certainly aren't my favorites, although I know Barry thinks that's one of his best). To me, those aren't hits, much less "Ultimate Hits"! This did not flow like all of the prior concerts I have seen, nor was it is usually well put together show. It had no zip to it and I left feeling disappointed, unlike his many concerts I have attended in the past, where I'm walking on air! In fact, I have posed a question to the BarryNet as to whether his concerts in Sacramento, San Diego, Hollywood Bowl, Chicago, and the rest are going to be similar to the Hilton show or are they REALLY going to be ULTIMATE HITS?! And are the shows going to be a couple of hours long? If not, I won't be attending, as I don't have money to throw away! Recommendation: If you are going, get the cheap seats, until he improves on his show! Come on, Barry, we expect more from you!! You're the master of putting shows together! What happened?? From a disappointed and devoted fan :-(

The show is called Ultimate Manilow-The Hits. Please be aware that nearly 1/2 the show is music from his Mayflower album. I don't know about you, but I'm not aware of any hits from that album. For the prices that you will pay to attend the show, you better really like that album. If I had known this before I purchased tickets, I never would have purchased the tickets.

We took the monorail back to the strip and many people were similarly disappointed with the show. Let the buyer beware!

Barry Manilow has an outstanding voice and it has remained great throughout his carreer. It is nice to hear a performer sing on key and enjoy his work. Since he has numerous hits, we expected a variety of old with new songs. Unfortunately, the night we saw his show he was getting over laryngitis again. Because of this, his backup singers sang a lot more and the show lasted only 58 minutes with no Encore. That was unfortunate considering the cost of the tickets. Barry Manilow has been doing this show for over five years at the Hilton and it must be getting old for him and the band. If you go, just expect an average show that will be short and sweet.

Barry Manilow show was fabulous! Yeah the glow stick was corny, but it's a lot safer than holding up a lighter!
The show was about 1 1/2 hours and he sang the best of his hits. Of course, the encore was copa-cabana! And what a great way to end the show!
Barry's voice is still beautiful, the notes were dead on!
You'd enjoy this show even if you didn't grow up in the 70's!!'
We bought our tickets directly from the Hilton the day of the show. We didn't opt for the $165 stage seats, instead we paid $105 and were a few rows from the back, which turned out to be great seats! We were center stage, and the arena was so small (fits 1400) that most every seat is a great seat!
Enjoy the show, it's certainly worth it!

Perhaps I was expecting too much having seen the 'Music and Passion' DVD, which lasts for about two hours, but the performance was over and done with in about 1 hour 20 minutes. I suppose that's Vegas for you, they want you back on those slots before you get too tired. Barry sang very well, despite an obviously dry throat, and the atmosphere was great. We paid quite a bit for good seats, but in all truth you really don't need to; you can get the atmosphere and sound for much less in some of the less expensive seats, and with the short length of the show you won't come away feeling a little short-changed. The security was a bit OTT as well, which didn't add to the experience. Don't be dissuaded from going, it's a great show, but just don't pay too much for a seat.
